I just got a call from this number.  I am currently in a debt management program and have made arrangements with CapitolOne Master Card to pay a smaller amount each month until I get another job. I am paying on time.  There is no need for any collection agency to be calling me.  The lady left a name and number to call...Carolyn at 905-944-4777.  I will not be answering the phone if they call again.  I'm so glad I checked it out and read these messages before I called back.

Everything you have said is almost against the actually federal and provincial laws that not only govern collections in Canada but also PROTECT you. They can call on the dates you stated but they must NOT call more than three times a week if they have already reached you those three times (ie. voicemails or directly speaking to you). If you ask what company they work for they MUST tell you the name of the company they work for, and you can request to be put on the DO NOT CALL LIST and they must immediately do so. I have worked in call agencies, etc. and I am in school to become a corporate lawyer. I have studied the codes and regulations governing these people and I know that they frequently abuse what they feel is there 'power'. They harass people and seldom get reprimanded for their abusive and unlawful behaviour. They deserve to be treated the same way they treat you, and if this is in a rude and abusive manner than you in no way have to participate in talking about your debt with them. As long as you do not admit to the debt that is owed on the phone or through writing they cannot attempt to sue you to collect the money, and you can chose to directly deal with the companies you owe instead.

If collections agencies are going to be ignorant and destructive in the face of regulations put in place to help both  you and them then they will face the consequences, you do not have to deal with that whether you owe money or not. The people who believe you 'owe monies and need to pay what you have occured' and say you should just let these people walk all over you, are absolutely wrong.

If you tell them you have lost your job and cannot pay they are supposed to stop calling you. Look up the Canadian Debt Collection rules, and the things you do not have to do.
I would report them! They are obviously not following any regulations.

These people are the absolute worst collections agency, and you should in no way deal with them.
Recently they have been repetitively calling for my mom (I'm only 19) and they won't leave their name or why they are calling. My little brother thought they knew her one time so he gave them her cell phone number. They then proceeded to ask which 'Sobey's' she worked at which we thought was odd because anyone who knows my mom knows where she works so he got suspicious and hung up. Thats when we looked up this number and saw everything about it. I emailed the company and told them about the women and calling my mother at work, she called and apologized that one of the agents would do that. She said they have the right to contact your employer unless told not to (which is not true I have learned they may only call to confirm employment and are not supposed to talk to you there). She told me she deleted the work # since my moms bosses were getting annoyed with the constant calls. So the calls keep up for 2 weeks and my mom answered and talked with the women but she keeps calling anyways. We aren't even sure if she is contacting the right person she is talking about things like 'American Express Card' which my mom doesn't even have. Today she called and asked me if I would take a number again and this time actually pass it along to my mom, since I 'didn't last time' she got really rude and I hung up on her since I don't need to listen to it and I'm not even the one she is trying to reach. All of the sudden the phone rings again... she yells at me and says aren't you going to take my number? She caught me off guard and I jumbled with my words and said, "I hope this call is being recalled so your supervisors can hear." She proceeded into a 3 minute yelling spree where she called me stupid and said the word was 'recorded.' She then proceeded to tell me she didn't care the work number wasn't supposed to be called, and that she was going to call my mother there because she needed to talk to her. She informed me that her supervisors wouldn't do anything and that she wouldn't get in trouble, screamed more and hung up while I was attempting to get her to listen to me. I attempted to reach the Human Resources number again but she is currently at lunch. I called the Canadian debt collection abuse hotline and I am going to report her. She literally brought me to tears after her yelling for at least 5 minutes while I just stammered and couldn't believe what I was hearing. She has broken almost every rule there is for debt collection that I can find, and I personally hope she gets fired and the company is caught doing whatever it is they are doing, and they get their 'licence' taken away.

well i just got a call from this number, dont know if it was a collection agency from capital one or not cuz my girlfriend answered it and the person calling was asking for andrea williams, but even if they were calling me or my gf about capital one, we never had anything to do with capital one so if it is a collection agency, how can they collect on something that we never had

we have been getting calls from these people every 3 months or so for the past year. the calls come in groups for several weeks and then not again for about 3 or 4 months.  We tell them that the person they are looking for is not here, or not related to us and tell them to remove our number from the file (we have the same surname as the person they are looking for).  I got a call from them this morning, and when I started to say "you people have been calling us...." the woman hung up on me!  I would love to report them to BBB,  but I can never find a company name or any other info on 411.com.  Help would be appreciated.

Not avoiding, but definately ignoring.  I filled out the credit app, but they approved it... everytime I ran the card they increased the limit.  No where on the application did it ask me if I would continue to pay my debt if I lost my job.  They didn't offer job loss insurance.  They should have cancelled the card sooner.  I have no assests against the debt, I've already lost it.  I used the money to buy food.  If they want it back they will have to goto solid waste recycling depot and sift through the s**t they helped create.  Maybe they shouldn't have telemarkers giving easy credit.  They should just write it off.  I've lost my stuff, so should they.  I don't feel bad ... not one bit for bailing on these guys.  Call me all you want, you can't get blood from a stone. Put me in jail... I will eat better.  I owe less than 2000.00  when I get it, maybe you will.  I am paying my taxes, food, cloths for my kids, rent, hydro and phone first.  If there is any money left (not likely) I'll call you.  Maybe you should call the government everyday 4 or 5 times and ask them when they will be bringing jobs back, lowering gas and food prices, ... I know what MC and Visa can do.  Call China, Mexico, and all the other job sucking countries and ask them to pay my bills with the money they are making from my old job.  Thank you 800 note for letting me post the truth.

I had a similar problem with a different collection agency. They would call, hang up, swear, and when I mean call they would call up to 23 times a week!! Once I contacted the Better Business Bureau it all stopped.

There are federal and provincial laws that govern collections in Canada. Depending on the extent of your delinquency, and who is collecting the debt (ie. original creditor vs. collection agency) the regulations are different. First, you cannot believe everything you read, especially on public blogs. If you are concerned that you are being harassed, or that the calls are fraudulent, research your provincial collections act and the provincial attorney general?s office, this is the best place to obtain information and assistance. For ex. In Ontario a collection agency can call you Mon-Sat 7am to 9pm and Sun 1pm to 5pm, this is completely legal. Just because you do not want to receive the call, does not mean the caller is harassing you. Also, due to privacy laws that govern not only collections but the banking industry, the caller can NOT disclose any personal information (ie. creditor name, account number) unless you have verified that you are Jane Doe. If you refuse to verify (which is your right) the caller will have no other choice but to terminate the call. This is for YOUR protection! Most agencies will ask for your Date of Birth and mailing address, or perhaps the last three of your SIN#. Keep in mind that the caller already HAS this information, they are simply trying to protect you. If you want the calls to stop, you must submit a written Cease and Desist request to the agency. However, keep in mind that just because the calls have stopped does not mean that the debt has gone away. You are responsible for any monies you owe, regardless of the reasons. If you are cooperative the agency will try to work with you and clear up the debt. No consumer deserves to be harassed or treated unfairly and if you feel you are being treated this way, you absolutely should report it, however if you are simply ticked off because life has bit you in the butt and you?re behind on your bills, it is not the collectors fault so do not take it out on them.

I got this call today, they were asking for my mom and she is at work, it sounded like it was really urgent and that they knew her so I told them her cell number. They asked if she would answer it and I said no because she is at work at the moment... They then asked which 'Sobey's' she worked at (even though I didn't tell them she worked there) and how many there were in our town. I got kind of creeped out and told them she didn't work in this town and I couldn't remember which one she was at... They hung up and I searched this number and now I'm worried. I just assumed it was someone my mom knew, and I find it incredibly harrassing that they were trying so hard to get ahold of her and they even wanted to call her at work.

Call from 905-249-6582, claimed called from PC Financial MasterCard. my wife gave them my cell phone number. I called back this number and I couldn't reach it. Then I call PC Financial Master Card Customer Service Hot line, PC confirmed THEY NEVER CALL ME!

Very curt "Alex" left message on my voicemail stating, "Allied Consultants, you NEED to call me right now!" and left the contact information with extension on how to reach him. The issue I have here is thatmy husband had apparently spoken with this erosion only a few days prior and made arrangements with him and he was calling again. I (the wife) am not impressed with this "Alex's" lack of respect for what he andmy husband had discussed.

You sound like a shill for Allied Consultants/Collections. Why not show some honesty and identify yourself ? Or is being honest against your terms of employment?

This is not a scam. It is Allied International, a collection agency on behalf of Capital one MC! I would not ignore these calls If I were you, jist screwing your credit even further by avoiding the problem. They are actually very reasonable to work with.

You can lay charges on them but the phone company will be a waste of your time , the phone company doesnt know what your phone calls are about . Changer you Dam number

Before being sarcastic think before you type.There are lots of reasons why people are behind on their bills and can't pay them,like JOB LOSS.We have a family of 5 and are barely surviving of no fault of our own.My husbands work closed after him working there for 14 years.Everyone is allowed an opinion but don't be rude.It is that old saying "You need to walk a mile in someone elses shoes"before typing comments.

These people called and said they were from capital one. they had my address totally wrong. capital one has my correct address. I get my bill every month. when i said that wasn't my address the lady stopped talking and then said ooops sorry i'm not authorized to talk to you.  SEEMS FISHY
