Again tonight, I have had another  call from them.  Again, the phone  rings and Shaun, no answer.  I called the number back and it  is indeed Ontario Energy Corporation.  I left a "not very friendly" message for them to stop calling me every day.

Just had a call from this number.  Like someone else reported, you jump up, run to get the phone and after several Hellos on my part (silence on the other end), they hang up.  Most annoying.  I don't pay my monthly phone bills to be annoyed by people like this.

somehow it is wrong that they should be able to harass people, for the sake of making money, and it's the people being harassed that need to spend money to fix the situation.

first of all, there is already a law on the books, way back from the days of wireless, that makes it an offence to misrepresent yourself via telecommunications.  if the person transmitting fails to correctly identify themselves, they can be charged.  it's no stretch at all to apply this to callerid - so no more spoofed numbers from non-existent area codes, or "000000000000".  and if phone companies were held criminally liable for knowingly carrying calls with bogus callerid, you can bet they would disconnect those overseas telemarketer nuisances.

once everybody's on a level playing field, you can decide whether to answer that call from "acme duct cleaning".

they should be shot for using a technologically lame robodialler, but beyond that, the company has no business ethics and uses high-pressure sales tactics and misrepresentation.  

no, they do not represent the gas company, nor have they "taken over" the rental division.  no, they do not have the right to enter your property and "inspect" your furnace or water heater.  no, your brand new high-efficiency appliance isn't "old technology" and doesn't need replacing.   no, you do not need them to claim a government energy efficiency credit (that expired 3 years ago).

telemarketing and door-to-door sales, working on commission, are NOT the right way to buy major gas appliances like furnaces and water heaters.

Just called back the number and it says it's Ontario Energy Group. Fed up with these nonsense calls.  I'm starting to forward these calls to another number, so STOP CALLING ME.

9052872503 now googles as MDG Computers Inc in Mississauga, but under the category of heating contractors....go figure.  Never anyone on the other end of the phone.

hmmmmmmm.... just a suggestion why dont you socially awkward pansies call the number back instead of posting on the internetz.

The CRTC can also issue a notice of violation against a telemarketer that sets out a financial penalty for violations of the  Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules. The maximum penalty is $1,500 per violation for an individual and $15,000 per violation for a corporation.

Until there is a penalty for calling Starting with say $100 and increasing on subsequent calls there is no incentive for them not to call. The government should be fired.

Just got a call from this number: No name given on caller ID and no one on the other end. If this is Ontario Energy Group, as my google search indicates, they are not permitted to call me as my number is on the Do Not Call list.

Please make these people stop calling. I rush for the phone and nobody there. I am a very senior and I could without this type of call

This number called my home half a dozen times tonight - every time I pick up I hear noises in the background but no one speaks and then the phone goes dead.  I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THESE CALLS!

How can you stop them from calling?
1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the CRTC.
3. Block them with a call blocker:
*Uniden DECT cordless phone can blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
*Panasonic DECT cordless phone can blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
*JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

I received a call from 905-287-2503 at 2:02pm today and they did not leave a message. I looked up the phone number on Google and it is "Ontario Energy Group" as above. I called them (their automated message says Ontario Energy Group) and spoke to two different woman who said they were trying to contact the homeowner (my tel# - which used to be a land line but is now a cell number - is listed in the phonebook at my old address) so I told them I was not the homeowner and to take my number off of their calling list. We'll see what happens.
