In Hamilton they use 289-632-1006 with no caller ID. I asked point blank twice if they were selling a good or a service and the guy said no they just want to perform an energy audit so we can get a government rebate.
Very annoying and evasive on the phone.

Called me again today - was working from home, so answered. Got the 'dead air' of an autodialer and it didn't connect when I said Hello so I hung up. And did a bit more research. There is a posting on Wikipedia addressing this ? the site states it is unclear as to whether or not it is advertising.
There was a Federal Ministry of Natural Resources energy home retrofit grant program, that Ontario dropped out of in 2011; the program ended in June 2012 and the webpages have been Archived. There were prequalified vendors, but home owners applied for the grant directly NOT through the vendors! The program is no longer active any company telemarketing and claiming to be part of this program is committing fraud. Wikipedia includes the weblinks to the Federal program website; clearly labelled 'archived'. I've updated my email to the RCMP anti-fraud unit (info@antifraudcentre.ca).

Anyone with a phone listing will get some sort of call from a Telemarketing Centre using a computer robo-dialer. They will appear to know your name and address, but always require you to confirm it - even though they called you. That's for the 'fake appointment' and if someone shows up its likely a scam too.
This is a red flag for SCAMMER. Do a Search on "CBC Marketplace: To Catch a Telemarketer". Most are off-shore call centres who are not subject to CRTC regulations, don't care, and LIE. They are often retained by organized crime to call number after number. Their aim is to find any valid numbers, so they can try to scam you. ANY calls that require your name, address, home ownership status, income level - are ALL SCAMS. They are trying to get your personal data so they can create Fake IDs used for fraud and illegal migration - including the Duct Cleaning Services. See the RCMP's Top Scams website.
I checked this company out a few years back with the Ontario Ministry of Energy, Public Inquiries Centre. The company no longer exists. Energy savings programs run by provincial or federal governments do NOT need to call YOU. Don't call back; don't be rude - just hang up and report to info@antfraudcentre.ca. If you show you have a 'live number', you'll just get more scam calls as they sell/share/rent their lists.

They call repeatedly, daily from 905-581-8841/240-318-1614 already I have received 4 calls today and it just after 1PM. each time I answer , the line appears to be dead so I called the number and got an answer from this weird automated voice that identified herself as Anna then proceeded to tell me about their promotion for Ontario eco friendly rebates. I then told the her that I wasn't interested in their program and asked to be removed from their phone list. she said ok and hang up. we will wait and see if they call again.

Some low life job people called and let it go to my answering machine. 905-581-8841 has been noted as a phone number from low life kind of job people and do not pick it up.

same B.S. as usual. Phone rings just as I walk in the door, lady with thick accent identifies herself as Ontario Something-or-other and starts playing 20 questions. I simply bark "what are you selling today" at her, she speaks a few words assuring me they are not selling anything, and ..... dead silence! I guess you deal with these folks by barking at them! lol

These calls just keep coming.
I found out the carrier for this number is Iristel. Their number is (416) 800-0266. Maybe if we all call them asking them to revoke this number .

I am thoroughly "Pissed off" with these phone calls and the people responsible.
I reflect on ALL the comments in this forum, and I agree with and share the frustration of this annoying experience with 905-581- 8841.
I hope one day I will get the privilege to speak to someone on the other end, so I can explain that I have everything I need and I Do Not wish to save any money.
My first spouse, walked away with half of the savings.
My second spouse took the rest.
My third love is the most wonderful human being and I think she'll stay.
After this is explained to the telemarketer,I trust he or she will hang up on you.
Let's hope we'll talk receiver to receiver.

This number called four times today and did not leave a message. When I got home I answered and there was a woman saying this is not a telemarketing call and she was calling from Ontario Eco Energy. She asked for the homeowners who are away, then she asked if I were the homeowner.I said no and she asked for them again and was once again informed that they were away and asked if I could help her.She rudely hung up on me.Number is now blocked on my phone 1(905)581-8841.

This number has called me a minimum of 4 times a day to a maximum of 7 times for the last 5 days. I work shift work and this is really (insert swear word here) annoying!

Panasonic has a block number built in the phone. Works great worth every cent. When they call rings once they hear a fax number tone hurts the ears too bad lol.

Just got this call. Representing Ontario Eco Energy. They get around the no call list by saying it's a "free" energy assessment. But will give recommendations and bargains to achieve a better assessment...duct cleaning, cheap energy supplying contracts, new windows, roofing...etc. A veiled telemarketer...also India accents and the background noise shows a very busy call center. The computer switching is from 905 area but the actual calls originate from off-shore.

I get a call from this number on a daily basis .. They never leave a message. I finally called the number back and for the answering machine which said please leave a message for "Ontario" ???? Getting fed up with these calls.

Called 3 days in a row and when I called back voicemail name was for Ontario.
Charles in Hamilton 2013-10-24 20:57:42 Unknown
Two calls in same day (10am, 4pm). Both times there was no one on the line when I answered. I would guess that the telmarketer's auto-dial is too far ahead of their people.

I received FIVE calls from this number in a two-minute period! I sleep during the day and turn. off the ringer, but the incessant vibration if the cell phone on the night table woke me up. One of the calls went to voicemail, which was only a hang-up click. The same number called 5x's yesterday as well....2x's in a one-minute interval in the morning and 3x's during one minute in the afternoon.

I'm the first to admit that the CRTC has issues with competency, but before being registered on the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) I was receiving about three telemarketing calls a day. Now I get three-ish a week.
I suspect that you can probably say the same thing.
AboveAverageIQ 2013-10-21 22:04:54 Unknown
The National Do Not Call List (DNCL) does not stop every telemarketing call. Some telemarketing companies risk the fine. Most, however, are outside the country. (I disagree with the above poster that the DNCL applies to American telemarketers.)
What you people have to try to remember is that telemarketing -- sometimes called "advertising"! -- is not against the law!
Before registering with the DNCL I was getting an average of three telemarketing calls per day. After registering I get maybe three per week. An extra bonus of registering with the DNCL I now have the ability to register a complaint every single time I get an unwanted phone call.
I'm the first to admit that the CRTC is incompetent, but occasionally they do manage to get one of these guys in court.
Hamilton ON 2013-10-19 17:34:17 Unknown
I just got a call from these telemarketers...I am on the DNC list as well...I called the toll free number listed above instead of the 905 number that called me, and after listening to everything and wanting to make my complaint to an actual live person, I was transferred to the voicemail of "Ontario", same voice mail you get when calling the 905 number...of course didnt leave a messsge....so I will now file a complaint with the CRTC, but really doubt they do anything except sell the DNC lists.

The call came in at 11:50 AM, on 16 October. Since my answering machine cuts in they don't leave a message,
What a bunch of Chicken Sxxxs.
The Do Not Call List is just a big fat waste of time. The CRTC couldn't care less about the ordinary
guy/girl in this country.
I happen to be in Southern Ontario, outside the GTA.

Thought this would help. Perhaps if enough people call them and send them emails something may change.
