Said they were calling from cogeco. Offered a great deal on phone, tv and Internet. They call 3 or 4 a day. Told him to remove my number I already have these services and will deal directly with cogeco.

It seems to be scams to make money by getting people  to buy info on the Internet, if some-one wants to know who called you!

Got that call today.  Came up 905-595-1559.
Can we track this person?  I don't answer unless I know the number,  and I won't call back until I plug it into Google.

Call rang today. When I Answered, the person at the other end of the line claimed to be a "Sam" from Cogeco Promotions department. (Cogeco is a Cable Television Provider in Southern  Ontario). When I answerd "Hello" a second time they hung up. **These are scammers who present themselves as legitimate businesses, but are not** . Beware!

Same thing as everyone here. Two calls today, dead air when I answer. Called back and got the message that the number was not in service. What's the freakin point? If these morons won't talk when you answer, then why call?

Had a strange call and decided to investigate. A number showed up on my call display, 905-595-1559. I said Hello about 5 times before a guy came on and said he was John from Bell's Promotion Dept. I immediately said, oh no, take me off that list and he promptly hung up. I tried calling the number back but it was busy. What caught me as odd was that he sounded like he was calling from a cell in a car, I could hear a radio in the background. I called Bell, there's no activity on my account, I'm on their no call list, so she ran the number. It's not theirs, and when googled, lots of complaints. It's a fraudulant call and has now been reported. Rest assured, NOT a legit call from Bell.

Called several times today. Claimed they were Bell Canada, then asked who was our internet, tv, phone provider. I said that if they were really from Bell, they should know who our service provider was.  The caller then told me to "Fuc* off' and hung up. This is intolerable.

Also, we are on the "Do Not Call' list so it is illegal for marketing people to call our number yet we get almost daily calls from marketing people or fraud specialists pretending to be marketing people.  We never buy anything from an unsolicted call, we never give our credit card number over the phone, yet people using numbers like the one above just keep calling.  We should improve security on the phone network or people will stop using phones, and Skype or email instead.

Mar.7@2:03pm - this is a spoofed number.  I did a Canada 411 Reverse Lookup for Business; and a general Search - it isn't a REAL business number.  Any of the legitimate phone companies, even if using (illegal from a privacy point of view) a third party partner, would use a REAL number and you'd be able to do a reverse lookup and get the company name.

I happened to be working from home and in the Greater Toronto Area, got the same type of call - computer dialed, dead air, and after I waited about 30 seconds an East Indian female voice came on with very poor English trying to say she was with Rogers (but didn't know WHICH Rogers company or service she was calling from).  I had family working for Rogers - they don't place marketing calls from India/Pakistan call centres, and they don't need to verify your details.  I also heard the bad connection and mushy an multiple male voices in the background - our telcos have much better technology.

Given how many companies this 'new' telemarketer CLAIMS to be representing, I suspect its another scam attempt trying to gather any possible identifying information to use for creating Fake IDs in your name (trying to verify name, address, valid phone #, any account numbers or utilities used, income levels - items banks ask about when creating new accounts).  See the RCMP Top Scams website - scammers try various fake calls or surveys or fake technical support to get anything they can on real (or deceased) people.

The call centre computers call number after number, they talk with a VoIP connection which is very hard to trace, and are usually from a Karachi, Pakistan call centre (do a Search on "CBC Marketplace, To Catch a Telemarketer"; its worth waiting through the commercials).  The caller is doing  paid job, the call centre may be run by or hired by organized crime - and they sell/share/rent lists of valid phone numbers so when they get a 'real number' you get more scam type calls.  Don't press any 'remove from list' buttons or talk to a live agent; don't call back - just hang up.

got this number just called today, the other side said they were calling from Bell. But the background noise  was so messy, like in the street or from a busy market... so strange. I hang up eventually.

Before the caller could even say hello, I heard someone in the background say, I love you.  He said he was from Bell offering me a promotion. His accent was so thick I could barely make that out. We all know Bell offers no promotions -- you just have to look at my bill.

Mushmouth illiterate thing called, boiler room noise in background, could barely understand him.  Blathered on about Bell.  I said if he can't speak English he should not be calling English-speaking citizens, and to get a job as a chai-wallah as that would be the best career option for him.

Received a call 20 minutes ago claiming to be from Cogeco trying to sell us a GREAT bundle package for $78/month to switch our phone, satellite and internet to them. When asked 4 how long, he said 6 months then the price would jump to $100/month. He then asked who our services were currently with and what we were paying 4 each.  If he actually was with Cogeco, he would have known that we are with them for a service already & what the charges were. I played stupid & said I didn't know as my husband pays all the bills. I told him to leave his # & I would have hubby call him back. 3 times he refused to. The red flags went up & I am sure he would have started asking more personal questions had I let the call continue. I simply told him we do not do business with any company who refuses to give us a contact #.  By the way, he did have a very thick Indian accent

If you have a phone that you can set the ringer tone, just save the number then set for "call block".. The number  will show up as a missed call and shows that the ringer was off.
Then when is suits you and if curious you can check for missed calls

Exact same as the last couple posters; all I could understand with the boiler room background noise and his horrible English was the word "Bell", when I told him that I searched the number and it's not a known number associated to Bell, I got silence from him, so I continued to inform him that we're on the DNC list, and that he's been blocked and reported. Another waste of time.

Roger's telemarketing probably from India from a boiler room by an East Indian who spoke with a mouthful of marbles. Why do Roger's use off shore idiots to market their internet, TV, and phone. Above number which won't accept incoming calls is as bogus as one will ever get. When the person was asked to identify himself he gave a Scottish bogus name. All these Indian telemarketers sound the same, talk too fast, and have no idea what they are doing. They use automatic dialers and / or VOIP so that they can't be traced. Sounds like the same voice that has been harassing people for Air Duct Cleaning which is also advertised on this thread.(www.atlas.care.ca which may be a legitimate company?????)

The few times I was able to connect to someone, they respond as if they were long time friends of mine ... after the intro, they say they are from/for/behalf of Bell Canada and want to offer us a deal. I told Bell Canada to NEVER call me again and they assured me I've been removed from their marketing list. LIARS. I added Roger Privacy home service to my phone line to block calls like this from ever bothering me again. Yes it is a paid service but it keeps annoying telemarketers away. If I feel like it I add that number to my outgoing FAX list and simply spam them at all hours day and weekends as they have done to me.
