I am deaf, therefore, I have to use a TTY phone. My husband recently passed away, but he used to make & take all my calls for me! Since he passed away, I've HAD to get the TTY phone & I'm still learning on how to use it. This number calls my house AT LEAST 2-3 times per day!!! Some days, they've called up to 7 times!!! They don't go through the TTY though. So I had to look them up in the reverse phone #'s. That's what got me to this page! I don't understand WHY they are calling me?!?!!?  I don't have ANY credit cards, or anything, but they call anyway. I need to use a walker & when my phone (TTY) goes off, I rush to it,, with my walker,(& I'm only 47years old!!!) but by then, they've hung up!!! I tried to call back, but it told me that no such number existed!!! I'm in Canada....I don't know where all of you are from, or if you bank or have that credit card, but I don't have any credit cards!!! I wish they would STOP calling....it's hard on me, literally, to have to rush to the phone just in time to see THEIR number AGAIN that day!!! I have NO CLUE as to why they keep calling! 2-3 times/day & up to 7 times!!! That's ridiculous to be hassled in your own home SO often each day!!! Is there ANY way to stop them from calling???

I received a call from that number tonight. FIrst spoke to a lady with a heavy accent, asking me a whole bunch of questions about our rates and balances to see if I qualified for their program to lower debts. She then transferred me to the financial manager (or something like that) who also had a heavy accent and was named Tony Smith!? Although he gave me the name, phone no, ext, his name and employee id from the get go, I was feeling less and less comfortable answering the questions as it went. I think I probably told to much, every time I expressed my concerns, he was very aggressive at explaining why I did not have to worry and almost made me feel stupid for even considering that it was a scam. I stopped it when he asked me the digits next to the signature block on the back of my card.
Unlike the other blogs I've seen that were similar to this, same company name, Liberty International Financial... when I called the number back, it did say the name of the company but I still don't feel good about the whole thing.  There are a few entries of gents supposedly enjoying next to no credits thanks to plans like this but I am a little suspicious as to whom those gents really are.

Again, just like the others claiming it is not a scam, your grammar for someone named "Alex Murphy" should be perfect.  It is not. "They really exists" do they???

You should be ashamed of yourself.  Get a real job and stop stealing money from honest people.

For the record, it is illegal for anyone to ask the information they are asking for.  Even a call from 'your bank'.  If you call your bank then it is allowed for them to ask you, but that is the only situation.

I gave them my information and now a feel sooo stupid.  My credit card information has been sold by these guys to someone else who then used it for fraud.  I checked with BMO and CIBC and they both confirmed this is a known and ongoing scam.

To everyone... do NOT give them any information.

905-595-4511 The calls are still coming, I advise everyone to call Phone Buster 1-888-495-8501 and open a file with all the info. this is the only way to stop the scam. My call was from William Thompson #11286, I hope you call Trans union and file a report to protect yourself. 1-800-663-9980 they will put a flag on your credit record.

I got the same call yesterday -- John Chambers.
After I asked for the org's info, I told him that the # was on the DNC and I would need to report it, he said that he had figured as much.

I have to wondering if "John Chambers" is this guy's real name.  All the names provided here sound rather generic?!  Surprising considering that the GTA has a pretty high ethic diversity...

I got a call this morning from very heavy accented man. He claimed he could lower my interest rate to 3.5%. I told him to go get f**ked. He then gave me a number to call back at if i didn't beleive him (1 905 595 4511 ext 312) Upon calling another heavy accented man answerd the phone which i had trouble understanding, i told him after a few minutes to put me through to ext 312, which he did, and then the man who had called first anwswered the phone laughing (real professional moron). I finally picked a few choice words to lay on him, and hung up the phone. F***ing scam.

After I hung up on him, he immedialty called back, but this time it showed an area code out of utah even though he said he was calling from canada.  Here is a tip, if you want lower rates on your credit cards call the number on the back of your card and ask for a lower rate.  9 time out of 10 they will give you one.

As far as being able to lower the rate, I believe they transfer the balance to there own company but they charge the interest differently so the 4.5 % winds up costing you hundreds of dollars.

Here's how these people work:  They call you to tell you they can reduce your interest rate.  But the only way they can do it is to get ALL of your credit information.  PLUS there is a fee they charge to do it - anywhere from $600 to $900 which gets charged to your card.  Not sure if the previous posters really looked into the fine print of their "deal" or not.  Usually, these people say they will negotiate with your bank to lower the interest rate.  So, they DO follow through by sending a form letter to the bank, asking them to reduce your rate.  Unfortunatley, the letter is ignored by the bank.  So, if you really want to reduce your interest rate, all you have to do is the same thing!  Call your credit card company, and ask them if there is a way to reduce the rate you are paying on your current card.  Save yourself the $600 charge by these people.  For those who say they DID get reduced interest rates, did you check to see if it was a 6-month promotion by another credit card company, and your balance was transferred to them, and after 6 months your interest rate skyrockets to 21% or even 24%??

I received a phone call from liberty financial fri. night and spoke with a Matthew Jones saying the same thing to me as the rest of u Then I was transferred to a financial officer Jason Woods. Matthew was very persistant and laughed when I was asking him "why r u asking me this information if u have my name and # u should already have this information in front of u" Asking how my name is spelled the long distance # on the back of my card etc. wanting my other credit cards. He said he wasn't allowed to tell me where he got my information from. I said I would think about it because I had called my credit card company last wk. and the best they could do was 12.99% for a fee of 25$ financial liberty says between 3.9%- 6.9%  they want to charge me a one time processing cost of $690!!!!!

I'm not sure about 3.9% but they surely dropped my interest rate to 5.9% from 19%. I talked to the representative for more than one hour.....i was skeptical about that and i wasn't sure about them but still i signed up with them and got the interest rate down. I was surprised to see that it wasn't a scam.

To be frank i wasn't really expecting what i got from my research on liberty financial.. They do exists.. This was the biggest surprise for me.. Cause I thought they were scam..  but still i'm not sure about the process that they are using to drop my interest rate from 24% to 3.9%.. Is this really possible?

*** Yes, the people on this site claiming it is not a scam are in fact the scammers trying to counter the online chatter.

100% it is a scam.  Hint... next time they give you an address in Markham (or anywhere), say "that's interesting... can you let me know what else is in the area... other major streets, etc"  They don't have a clue!

These people are scum.
