The person who called me from this number said they were doing a survey.  I played along for a while, until one question I didn't feel comfortable about answering.  They said "they'd call back at a later time".  I said, go ahead...I'm not going to answer the question.  The dude then proceeded to call me again and again and again, harassing me after 9pm!  Nice business, this one.  Do yourself a favour...ignore the call.

Survey
Called yesterday and a after a delay in answering, a woman with an accent said they were conducting a survey.  I hung up on her and added added the number to my Panasonic phone's call block list. Called again totay and the call was blocked by my phone.  LOVE My Panasonic Phone!

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

Got a call from 905-667-0897.  Man with non Canadian accent said that he was from Windows Service. I had not placed a call to windows service and as a computer expert with many years of experience do not need to make computer related service calls. I also know that this is scam recently in use to gain online access to a person's computer for identity theft purposes.

Just received a call saying they were from Windows and wanted access to the computer.  When asked, they couldn't tell me the company that they represented.  We told them we would take care of any computer security issues.  I told them to hold on, my spouse would talk to them.  While holding my thumb over the speaker, I could hear them in the background prompting others to allow them access to their computer.

Called my cell phone, was just a recording about lowering my interest rates.  I didn't listen to the whole message; I hung up after a few seconds.  They've called me 3 or 4 times in the last couple of weeks from different numbers.
Here is verbatim a voice mail they left me when calling from 9052050849.

For those of you who are getting calls claiming to be from Microsoft tech support, trying to get access to your computer, it's best if you pretend you don't understand what they're asking you to do.

I had a call from this number from a man with a very strong accent.  He told me he was from Windows Support and told me to log on to my computer so that we could delete viruses they had supposedly detected.  I told him to call back and he was insistent we do it right away.  Of course I didn't agree adn he never called back - what a scam!

Read this thread, this is what happened to me today. Again! I reported the last one as well. This person kept guessing my card details. When I asked which credit card he wanted to help me with, he stumbled for a few seconds, didn't know how to answer! I asked him a bunch of times the name of the company, and here is what he spelled for me: Lindquist Tax Accounting. They are a fraudulant company and if you call your credit card company, they DO NOT work with them! This is a scam. Ask the person for all the details you can get, and report it to your local police! I have done this and we all need to keep reporting them!

Do NOT give any real banking, name, address, credit card numbers or anything to these people. They will scam you!

I too had a delay when first picked up and then was told my computer is sending warnings to them. I told him to call back and leave his details on the answering service and he quickly hung up. He sounded East Indian.

Mickey, there's no way anyone could ever know if your computer has a problem or not remotely without you giving permission (like that fake caller says).
The real error reports that Windows sends from time to time (when applications fail and close unexpectedly) are treated according to Microsoft's privacy policy that explicitly says that "no personally identifiable information is collected".

In short: It IS a FAKE call, ignore or play a joke on them.

got several calls from this number,,,usually i play along for a little while to try and find out what they are trying to do,,but they (as there are several different men) tell me they are calling from a company that was hired by Microsoft to contact people who are downloading viruses when going on-line or recieving e-mails. Tonight he said he was calling from 2487-tech support from the computer maitenance dept., he wanted me to go onto my computer so he could show me how to fix it. Not being stupid,,I did not do this and told him give me the instructons and I would do it later..if he could provide me with a number to call back, he gave me a phone number of 1-347-468-9508 but outright refused to give me any more info on what to do. He gave me the name Jack Wilson to ask for when I call back.

Previously, I spoke with one man who after I advised that I would not do as he asked, he laughed because he knew I wasn't falling for it and asked if we could be "friends" - that I sounded nice...etc,,,then when I told him I was hanging up he said he would just call me back  - he did - every 2 minutes for 45  minutes. I finally made a call to a friend so he'd get a busy signal for awhile.

I have an idea for your prank. Rig your house up to appear like it's haunted. Get some friends to help you. When the guy comes in, warn him that your house is haunted but don't be too afraid, the entity might not hurt you. Then the fun begins!!!
