Aro dicks scam! 1514-322-1414 or 1-866-794-8897 harassing the innocent!
Jerome 2014-01-28 23:36:00 Unknown
I receive a recorded message from ARO on my landline telephone. I call the number 1 877 250 7070 ext 8073 as given to me in the message. No person answers my call. I just get music even after one hour of waiting with my telephone open and connected to their phone number as stated above.

I too received a voicemail from them last night, saying that they are calling on behalf of *one of the major banks* which I don't want to disclose here so I will call it "the bank"!!!! They got the last name right but first name wrong. But I don't even know that person! It beats me why they are even calling my home number.
When I did call back the number and entered the extension it just says ARO, when I googled it it says collection agency. The thing is I don't even owe any money or unpaid bills, been a customer for over 30 years with "the bank"......anyways, it just said "not home, leave a message" so I just left a really nasty message for them.
I feel like they are just scamming people and using bank names to get you to call them back. If they continue to leave messages like this I'm going to report them.
I've since called "the bank" letting them know they are using their name and calling random people and feel threatened and scared because they know our home number and somehow knows who we bank with.

WOW, someone just called me from here and might I say she was very rude. Looking for the owner of our phone account. Asking really invasive questions. I had thought it was a friend of my mother in law's....who just happen to be a b***h (the woman on the phone, not my mother in law lol). But she didn't know anything about her. This was an extremely odd phone call, so odd I had to *69 it. What is this number? Why the hell was she so rude to me.

I think these ARO Inc calls are truly a scam!
My mother doesn't understand english very well, and handed me the call.
The woman speaking sounded very kind and understanding. She the principal amount was around 2000$ and after 10years it came to 7000$, and that this amount needed to be paided immediately.
My mom was furious and then the woman, Carrie, said she could pay 2500$ by the next day, all will be dropped and the debt to zero. She told me to go to my LOCAL MALL to pick up the invoice. Hahaha...
#1. If this debt was accumulating for 10years, why are we only hearing about it now?
#2. There have never been any type of documentation, letters, bills, etc sent to our home.
#3. Seriously... it has to be paid by the next day? LOOOOOL~
Ridiculous. I wasted so much time on the phone.

Fed up with Aro Inc?! Send them a registered letter stating that you dispute their clients claims that you owe the money and that they should inform them that they should settle it in the courts. No reason to call you after that. Less talk more action. More accurately CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!!!!!! Is anyone interested?
hummmm 2009-12-18 03:49:16 Unknown
So where are you located that you are getting these calls?
Tina 2009-08-31 17:42:42 Unknown
Got live person asking for Jason. told them they have wrong number and they asked if he was not available right now and I told them nobody named Jason lives here, they then asked if this was - my home number - and I said yes. I got the "you're lying" vibe from them. I'm sure I will get more calls before they get a clue.
SEL 2009-07-30 23:49:05 Unknown
ASK WHAT THEY WANT TO TALK TO MY FATHER ABOUT AND THEY TOLD ME PERSONAL MATTER. HE DOESN'T WANT TO TELL ME WHY HE IS CALLING OR HE IS ALSO VERY RUDE BAD MANNER.

So yah we've been dealing with ARO for about a year now and have already paid of a big chunk on our loan. Well then in April we receive a letter from Canada Student Loans stating they are no longer collecting debt through collection agencies including ARO, and that they request your payments be made directly at your local bank to them. WELL we then contact ARO to explain the new arrangements and supposedly everything was a go and that we could pay it straight to the government from our bank and that payments would no longer be coming out of our account via ARO . . . . well that never happened, today they just took money from our bank account (which wasn't even the same amount as our original agreement anyways)) We have been honest and trying to get this debt gone as fast as we can, and they turn around and be jerks like this! heck they even got our tax return which was the biggest return we have ever gotten!!!!!!! So yah, we're completely irate about this whole situation! We think honesty is the key to any relationship and they broke that trust so you can F**K OFF ARO! I wish I would have found this site before we started paying the loan off to them, but oh well we only owe a little bit left so we'll pay it as fast as we can . . . . . P.S. for those of you whom are sticking up for this company, you shouldn't be because many of these people who are getting the calls from them probably do not owe any money . . . and we do and have been paying and still get screwed over.

I had been getting calls from this number and couldn't figure out what they were saying. Finally got a clear message, but the person they are looking for used to be a neighbour of mine over 2 years ago! Obviously they ran a reverse number search and found me beside her and started calling me! I did send an email to the manager at ARO per their website telling him to tell his staff not to call my number and why. Then didn't hear anything from them again for nearly two weeks --- until just a few minutes ago when they've called again, asking for her!

Shut up, if you don't like to read the complaints, go to another site...you big mouth scheister!
CAPS off 2009-05-25 21:10:06 Unknown
To anyone who feels the need to type their thoughts with the CAPS LOCK key on, stop being so angry and grow up. Children do this.
Further, as to some of the arguments being made on the behalf of a collection agency, are you serious? A few things that you've obviously missed in your myopic view of the world...
1. Most poeple in civilised society will be contaced by a collection agency at some point in their lives about something, and the alleged debt owed isn't always accurate, as was the case for me when someone put something in my name.
In a world that increasingly more expensive to live in, and jobs are more and more difficult to come by, no one has a right to judge anyone else's misfortunes. No one.
Anyone can fall on hard times. Even the most loyal billpayers.
Remember: any time you're pointing a finger at someone, you've got three pointing right back at you. So get off of your high horse of ignorance and give your ego a rest.
2. There are laws by which collection representatives must abide, and often don't. They cross the line aplenty.
3. If it weren't for debt, none of these collection agencies would exist, and thus many of those with certain personality types well-suited to harrassment would be out of a job themselves.

For about two years now, I've been getting harassing phone calls and mail from ARO Inc. They think I am an individual named Hughes LeBlanc, who owes money on student loans. I just retired from a 30 year job at a parts distribution center, I've never taken out a student loan and I've got no bloody idea who Hughes LeBlanc is. My phone number has been listed under my name and only my name since 1982. How many times do I have to explain to them I am NOT this individual? Answer: It doesn't matter how many times, because they STILL keep calling! My credit record is spotless and I don't owe anybody a penny. I've never sworn at them but my anger is growing by leaps and bounds. You have no idea what "Sick and Tired" really is, buddy.
Know Your Rights 2008-11-18 15:39:20 Unknown
send them a letter stating that they can only communicate with you via mail or you will contact a lawyer. Tell them you know your rights, and it's harrassment for them to call you more than 3 times in a 7 day period, or to call without a purpose. they will stop calling after that. you can also report that agent to the ministry, ask for their collector's license number.
you should start by complaining to the agency themselves, in writing. here's a guide on how to do it:
http://www.gov.on.ca/mgs/en/ConsProt/STEL02_168949.html
try not to get too emotional or anything, just simply state that you verbally requested all communications in writing, as per your rights stated in the Collection Agencies Act, and that request was denied on the following occasions. You can tell them you're going to complain to the Ministry of Government Services too, that'll scare them.
- - -
I've been dealing with them.
Told them all of this.
Yet they still call me (although they don't leave messages).
Everytime they do this, I take a photo of my phone with the call ID # on it for further proof they are indeed calling me against my wishes.

i keep getting calls for someone i've never heard of. reguardless of how many times i tell them i'm a different person they keep calling. i think if you are a buisness, reguardless of what it is you do, you should get your facts straight before you repeatedly interrupt the life of a good upstanding person. MY phone is in MY name. so why do i keep getting harrassed. also, the people loaning the money should be checking that people are who they say they are and that they are giving correct contact information instead of someone elses!! i've never borrowed money and never been in debt so i don't really know how these things work. what i do know is that if this doesn't stop i'm going to hire a collections agency to collect all the money that has been wasted by these ill informed people calling my phone. may sound sad but the fact of the matter is that i need every penny i have just to survive and cell phone calls are very expensive. get your facts staight and leave kind, honest people such as myself alone!!

I don't understand... yes, collection agencies are aggresive, but they have been given your account because you didn't pay your dues back on time. People can't just borrow money for a service, agreeing to pay it back... and just... not pay it back.
Yes collection agencies are aggresive, and in most cases downright rude, but they exist because of us, we, the people who borrowed money or used a service that costs money, and didn't apy it back

i work at a bank, and they have called here like 5 times this morning
i dont think i owe anything that they'd be calling about, but even if i did there is a maximum number of times they can legally try to contact a person in a 7 day period, i think they have nearly maxed that out this morning.
also, are they allowed to contact your workplace, regardless of what it is for? i dont think so
Debt Free 2008-05-13 17:12:56 Unknown
I dont even believe I should give you a response for your stupidity. I find you quite ignorant to be honest. My question is why are you on here in the first place? Did you receive a call or are you one of those ARO people. I'm thinking more the latter. To put it bluntly, collectors are no better than criminals and they are 100% worse than any debtor is. Collectors have no heart at all. I guess you are in agreement that a woman who steals a loaf of bread to feed her starving family should have her hands cut off like in the old days? People who owe usually dont want to owe anyone. These people are put into this position because their is no help for those who cant get jobs or some of them lose their jobs for some reason. These people have no help! For example,I was laid off 4 times in 12 months....how do you expect to pay a debt when you dont know when your next paycheck is coming and you have no help? This is disgusting when poor get poorer and the rich get richer.
bonusiswhatdebtorsare 2008-03-30 00:26:57 Unknown
Do you ppl realize how lucrative a collection position is. I don't think you do. Some good collectors are making more money than Cops, Nurses, Managers, and I could go on. The reason they are aggressive is because 89% of debtor are just ignorant liars, who I put in the same category as thieves. To simplify things for you, they're more like financial babysitters for you losers who don't pay your bills or bills you put in other peoples names. Run you lame a***s, change your numbers, disrespect yourself enough to not even answer to your own name when someone speaks it ....and make sure you remember to wipe your a** until everthing is gone....just figured since you don't know how to pay bills you wouldn't know how to do the other essentials in life.

TO ALL OF YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT ARO, IT'S TIME TO OWN UP, I'LL BET THAT AT LEAST ONE OF YOU COMPLAINING ON THIS SITE OWES MONEY TO SOMEONE. WE ALL HAVE AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER. PEOPLE ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOBS!!!!! YEAH, ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE DEAD BEAT DEBTORS, BUT REALLY NOW, STOP AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUR SAYING. EVERYONE OF YOU WOULD PROBABLY DIE TO BE A COLLECTOR. THERE'S GOOD MONEY IN IT. AS FOR THE SWEARING AT COLLECTORS, HOW ABOUT YOU GROW UP AND PAY YOUR DEBT INSTEAD OF TAKING IT OUT ON THEM...
IF YOU KEEP GETTING CALLS FROM THEM AND IT'S NOT THE RIGHT NUMBER, CALL BACK AND SAY THAT, I'LL BEAT THE CALLS STOP...YOU DUMBASS'

they are trying to collect on a bill that was paid over 5 years ago. first they did not want to do a payment plan and then when the bill was paid they are trying to collect on interest on the SAME money. What the hell. The bill was paid. They received the money and now they want 5 years worth of interest because "their files show that money is owed". The person who they are hasselling is a senior citizen and they have the nerve to yell and scream at this person for being "a deadbeat and a liar". How does a company like this stay in business. By the way they are also located in Vancouver B.C. and the supervisors there have already had the RCMP called on them for their behaviour and breaches of rights. Don't be shy folks these people have extremely loose ideals and they don't give a s*** who they hassel and think they are above even being civil. As for their interest monies. GO TO HELL!!!!!! They are not getting one red cent.

Perhaps you misunderstood what I had said. I pay tax. Therefore educations for all should be free (Paris, England have free education) and yes, the government has money (my money)and "my money" should help those people get an education instead of paying giant salaries to city and government officials. I find it sad and disgusting that people have no right to a free education here in Canada and most people who get educated spend their whole lives trying to pay it back. You really don't realize how difficult it is to be a student or go to school knowing that you WILL have a huge debt after and perhaps no jobs available in the field you studied for and you end up working at McDonalds for minimum wage with debt collectors after you because you cant afford to pay back because you can barely afford food on your table or a roof over your head. Get the picture. You must be a lucky one who had a mom & dad to pay for you or you came from a rich family. For the average "joe" we have to pay for everything and college and university loans run 20-100k. Canadians should have a free education. No one deserves to be left behind!
