Had this call at noon. In the name part of my caller ID unit the
number 9056675646 showed up instead of Unknown name. This has never
happened before! Below I've pasted this portion to view;
9056675646 1-905-667-5646 Thu 3/19/09 12:21 PM 3 rings.
I dialed *57 and the call was traced!

Then I get a call shortly after this from IQOR;
OUT OF AREA 1-877-503-2115 Thu 3/19/09 12:48 PM 8 rings.
I dialed *57 and the call was traced!

I didn't answer any of these calls.
But now I'm wondering if IQOR has something to do with
the first call today? Maybe so!

About 10.30 am today  August 26 I got a phone call from the number 1 905-667-5646. The person on the phone indicated that he was phoning on behalf of Bell Canada and said I had been chosen to receive a free cell phone. The reception was very poor and I could barely here what he was saying. I would like Bell Canada's comment on this. I said no thank you. I am not interested and hung up. I got his number when calling *69 and I immediately phoned back and just got a busy signal.

I'm on the government's list, that I do not want any marketing calls, but apparently it is not working all the time (especially not from the U.S.A.)

has called several times in the last week, this morning started cat 8:06 am, This is really irritating as we have shift workers in our home and these companies call all hours day and night. My biggest complaint is if you get my voice mail LEAVE A MESSAGE, that is why I pay for voice mail.. If our government can't get them to quit calling and invading our privacy, then these companies should have enough good manners and class to leave a message on why they had the need to call you,

Offering a 'free' phone.
I only managed to keep him on the phone for just under 3 minutes.  I shouldn't have commented on how expensive I thought 'free' was going to be.  But I don't have time for this crap.

Jeff,
You are correct that Rogers carries their service through the cable system.

But (you knew that was coming right?) Rogers and every ISP in Canada (Telus too), connects to the internet through what is known as the Backbone, aka, SuperNet, aka Bell NEXIA.  So, no matter who you give money to each month, eventually, Bell will get their hands on some of it.

Unless you want to send your 1's and 0's via smoke-signal or carrier pidgon, Bell will be involved...  Resistance is futile...

Gotta go...  the black helicopter (with the Bell logo) is outside again...

Asian girl called Feb 16 offering a deal for a cell phone.I asked her to call back in a couple of days so I could talk to the wife about it. She called last night (Feb 18) and went through the information again. I told her I was interisted in it and started running over my information with her until we got to the credit card information and social insurance number she said she needed. Thats when the wife started waving her hands feaverishly. I told the woman I was not comfortable giving that information to someone I don't know on the phone. After much discussion she told me how bad she felt that I didn't trust her enough to give her the information (like we are best friends now).I told her she would have to call back tomorrow after I check with Bell Canada to make sure this is the proper procedure.
Today I spoke to a person at Bell's main office in Toronto and was told they don't request that information on the phone and this must have been a scam. I have contaced phonebusters and the two credit check organizations to have my credit red flagged in case they try to get credit with the information they do have. It will be interesting to see if she calls back tonight. She claimed her name is Allaygibbs.

i was on the phone with a "Dave Johnson" from Bramladesh who told me his employee number was "confidential" and that when i asked to speak to his supervisor he hung up on me.  Apparently he's a "student from U.S." And he also said I was "wasting his time"  Also, why does 9056675646 come up as a number not in service.

A very helpful friendly, even charismatic dude with a strong indian accent (difficult to understand, but I managed) offered me a "free cell phone" if I sign up for $25/month. He didn't know if I was on Rogers or Bell (both, actually). I asked about a blackberry handset which he said would be available for just a one time fee of $25. That's the BB Pearl 8130. For only $15/month I could have unlimited email. I was thinking about taking this offer.... It got a little confusing when I asked about web-surfing... I'm still not clear on that, but I think he said $10/month for ulimited... but then he seemed to say it would be another $25. I dunno. It was quite convincing. Frankly, I did indeed take up Bell on a similar offer about 8 months ago. I guess the difference is that when the (real) Bell offered me the BB 8 months ago, they only charged it to my existing Bell account. This guy asked me for a SIN. I immediately responded that that simply wouldn't be possible. He asked for a Credit card and he assured me that he would charge nothing to it until the hand set was delivered. He was very, very polite, friendly and reassuring. I liked listening to his soothing voice. I said that I would like to take him up on his offer, but that I would have to call him back since he called me and that therefore I didn't really  know who he was. He said he would speak to the manager and I was on hold for a minute. He came back and expalined in (too much) detail that since it was a large call senter, there was just no way I could call him back. By now, I was sorry that the offer wasn't genuine but I was still wondering if I was just being paranoid. But after reading all of this, I'm about 99% sure that I am indeed not too paranoid.

It's funny, I typed this number into google not expected to get much..it seems I'm not the only one they've tried to scam. These people have been calling me every few nights claiming to be from Bell Canada offering a Solo cell phone with some unbelievable deal. First of all, I knew they were full of it when a 905 number came up and they tried to say they were from a different department of  Bell. So I told them not interested. They called back again and I let them go through their speech and then when they asked for my SIN number or credit card number called them on their scam. I got the guys name which was Jason Jay (original right?) and his badge number 1042 and then told them I wasn't interested. So tonight, once again they called. He knew who I was and told me it was Jason Jay calling again and I said I already told you twice I wasn't interested! He tried convincing me AGAIN that it wasn't a scam and asked to speak to my husband. I hung up on him and called Bell Canada. They searched is badge number (he didn't even give me the correct amount of numbers or letters) and obviously nothing came up. They then searched the number they called from and found it was a landline first of all, and it was a HOME line not even a business. Bottom line if you get a call from these people DO NOT give out your info and I would suggest calling your local police for the Fraud line and reporting them. Hopefully if enough people do they can be caught before some poor sucker falls for it. They really aren't too bright..phone companies can be a pain in the a*** but they don't continuously call harassing you to take their product.

Had these calls last year, but then they stopped--until now. Googed it then, and rechecked today. Thanks for making me feel right in not answering the phone. Only one of my phones has ID check. Should get one for the other phone too. Making  bad name for Bell-you would think Bell would be active in stopping this scam.

When we signed up for the do not call list the calls actually increased!  Panasonic has a nice phone set out for $59 that allows you to call block any number not identifying themselves as well as these types of numbers.  You can block up to 50 numbers as well as all private number, long distance numbers.  When a number blocked calls it will ring once then give them a busy signal so eventually they will purge your number from their call list but at least you don't have to deal with them.

This number called today at 3:35 PM.  I didn't recognize it so didn't answer then did a search then went back to apply the call block.  The next time they call they simply will get a busy signal.  Now for the price of these new fangled phones it is well worth it for you to take complete control of your phone service.  The best part is the only thing you need from Bell aside of basic line is call display.  So you save on your Bell service as well.

After offering a cell phone deal, the caller, who had difficulties with English, wanted to "confirm" my birthdate (flattered me about my youthful voice) and then proceeded to ask for my SIN.  ??? Alarm bells!

Get the new Panasonic cordless phone Model Number KX-TGA64TC or similar model because it has a Call Block feature that when you get a call and you do not want that number to bother you again you just save it to Call Block. The phone will ring ounce and the display will show Caller Blocked when you go to your Callers List you will see that number and it works with Visual Call Waiting as well. Best of all it is FREE no monthly fee to Bell or other phone provider. You can also add in any number you wish and remove it at any time plus there is no limit on how many numbers that you can block I have 25 and counting. I think it is great and because the phone rings ounce the calling party has no ideal what happened when they get disconnected, great way to mess with people. Hope this was helpful!

Kris called from Bell - offered great deal on cell phone & service and also high speed internet. High speed has been unavailable in my area (except for satellite at a high cost) so this was great news. But when he asked for my S.I.N. #, the deal was off and I hung up. The manager also came on the line to speak to me (questioned my claim of unavailability). Awhile later the manager called back - caller I.D. 336-206-7564 to question my address as he is unable to locate on the 411 listings (duh, do you think that might be why high speed is unavailable?). Again I hung up.
