My mother got a letter and check. That said I had won 55,000 dollars.

Scammers often use  well-known and/or widely advertised legitiamte business nems --  like Chase,  Sterling, Fidelity, etc to make their mailings seem believable. Novation Capital is a well-established legitimate business that advertises on TV, etc, Scammers may use the Novation name to make their mailings look legitimate. If you get something from "Novation" and were not expected it, simply call the REAL Novation's toll free number (888-NOVATION) and someone there will tell you if what you received is real.

it seems like a scammer decided to make their scam look reputable by using the Novation Capital name as a front. They are actually a legitimate business.

actually there is a novation capital but the person sending these checks out are not part of novation. they are really making them look bad.

My wife received the same thing.  She deposited the check into the savings acct and was told there would be a 14 day hold to verify funds.  WOW!  I knew it was too good to be true.  She too was told to call back or be withdrawn from the program.  What the hell is going on?

My boyfriend recived a letter and a check as well. I automatically assumed it wasn't real and came on-line to research it and of course it is a scam. I hope no one falls for this!

The number I had was also for the same thing Novation Capital and sterling bank. I just received the letter and check yesterday. Its said I had also won 55,000 dollars. The lady said deposit and call back within two days because if I didnt it would withdraw me from the program. I took the check and letter to the bank and asked them if they could verify and they said it was a scam. What are these people getting from this?

I got a letter from the same business and spoke with the same person, Maggie. Same results as you, when I called Sterling Bank I was told it was  ascam and that the check was no good. When I try to call "Novation Capital" back I dont get an answer anymore. DONT MESS UP YOUR BANK ACCOUNT WITH THIS SCAM!!!!!!!!

LETTER SAYS I WON $55,000.00 IN A LUCKY WINNING DRAWING.THEY SENT A CASHIER CHECK FOR $3,985.00 TO BE DEPOSITED IN MY ACCT. WHEN THE CHECK CLEARS I AM TO CALL THEM BACK AND THEY WILL TELL ME WHERE TO GO TO PAY MY TAXES. AND THEN MY BIG CHECK WILL BE COURIER TO ME. WHEN I CALLED STERLING BANK TO VERIFY IF THE CHECK WAS GOOD I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT ONE OF THEIR CASHIER CHECK # AND THE ADDRESS TO THE BRANCH WAS NOT THEIRS. I SPOKE WITH SERURITY AT THE BANK. WHEN I CALLED NOVATION BACK THE GIRL SAYS THATS IMPOSSIBLE SHE WILL STOP PAY CASHIER CK AND SEND ME A MONEY ORDER IN 5 TO 10 DAYS. I AM TO CALL BACK 7-10-09 TO UPDATE MY FILES.
