I too received this "Mackman Group" sweepstakes check.  I have not tried to cash it but it does seem like a scam.  The number listed is 1-905-782-0248 and the check is in the amount of 998.85.  I have tried calling the number several times and I get a recording every time stating that the agent I am trying to reach is unavailable.

I called and emailed the bank on the check.  They sent me back an email stating it a fraudulent check.

I GOT ONE TOO! I tried to call and all the phone did was ring as well...the phone number on my letter was 1-905-728-4842, the check was for $998.85 and I had to call/fax and PAY a tax and processing fee BEFORE I claim my prize...SMELLS LIKE A MAJOR SCAM!! If something sound too good to be true.....plus, I NEVER enter sweepstakes, so HOW did they find me?? And when I googled "Mackman Group, Vancouver, BC, it led me to THIS site, where, apparently, people are having the same experience! Gonna have an attorney friend look at it just to see what's up and to try and stop this nonsense!!

I also received a letter with a check with the title "Sweepstakes Claim Notification". The letter is from the Mackman Group, 5190 Meadowvale Rd, Vancouver BC. The letter states that I am required to pay a "tax and processing fee" before my lump sum winning can be sent to me. It also says that payment will be made directly to my "tax agent" with a stipulation that I fax tax payment receipt to the fax number above (which is not listed on the letter - I suppose that is how they get you to call).

Seems like they are trying to get me to take action that they can prove:
1. I called them,
2. I cashed a check that obligates me to the terms of the tax payment agreement,
3. They are entitled to the tax and processing fee (who knows what this amount is - my guess is that it is much greater than the initial check and reward).

I would like to know if anyone finds additional information on this company.

also another CLUE in the closing paragraph of the letter it states "fax receipt to number above" if this was a legitimate company wouldn't u think they would be smart enough to put the fax number on the letterhead?

My brother received the EXACT SAME THING!!  I looked up BBB and no records for the "mackman group" , Googled it and got lots of info, but still wasn't assured, so one step further I looked up the bank, found the number to call and verify funds.... guess what???? NOT AVAILABLE...... EVEN TRIED LOWER AMOUNTS..... NOT AVAILABLE

I just received that same thing!  My letter was from the Mackman Group, 5190 Meadowvale Rd., Bancouver, BC.  When I called she didn't want any personal information on me.  She said when I cashed the check (which was to cover the taxes) if you verify who I was.  I took it to the bank to have someone look at it.  The called a fraud specialist - FAKE!

This number is a Toronto area number. Quantum is not located in the area let alone canada. This is not Legit

Angie , don't email this woman. She is part of it. Ask yourself this, if she has a different number than you do why did she search THIS number. Makes no sense.

I got a letter from the same company and I looked them up online and they had a website, then I called them and she didnt want any personal information for me at all, she sounded ligit and said it was not a scam, didnt even want my return phone number.

My son received a letter with this ph # on it to call to claim a money prize award, there was also a check in the envelope as a up front payment on the toal prize. When we call this # we are supposed to talk to candice roonan, claims agent, but all the phone does is ring, no one ever answered and there was no voice mail. Is anyone else had this happen and is it a legit company-Quantum Business management.
