I unfortunately was a victim of this scam.  I was close to losing my job, and fell for this thinking it would be a great way to support myself.  The bank caught the fraud, but only after I'd done a couple of transactions, so now I'm in the middle of working with my bank's fraud/dispute department and contacting a lawyer.  It was foolishness on my part, but that is how these people work, preying on others in this poor economy.  If anyone reads this and can give me any other suggestions of what to do, I would appreciate it.  I've already registered on antifraudintl.org.

Do not remain in contact with Design Distributing Inc.. The IP address had been traced to Moscow, Russia. It is an identity theft scam.

They send you an Independent Contractor Agreement in hopes that you will give them your birth date and social security number in the first paragraph. Don't give out this kind of information on an Independent Contractor Agreement ever! I noted this as a red flag immediately and want to report this to prevent anyone from becoming a victim of an identity theft scam. They are out to play on people's emotions during the recession and people being out of work.

http://who.godaddy.com/WhoIs.aspx?domain=bbb-az.org&prog_id=godaddy

the WHOIS information for the bbb-az.org returns a registration in Moskow, RUSSIA..

the link to their "BBB profile" starts with:

http://bbb-az.org/

if you try to go to this site it will return "Forbidden".

I received this email today also, and checked it out.  They seem to have gone a step further with a fake BBB profile.  It already seemed sketchy to me that they had a direct link to it.. they try too hard to come off as authentic and like other posters have stated, there is no other information about their company on their website.  If it was truly a design company, don't you think they would have a portfolio of works or a client list or something?

Same here. If you click on the BBB link on Designs website it takes you to what appears to be a BBB web page that shows an A+ rating. Then I went directly to BBB website and entered business name and it shows a F rating. BBB even points out that design might have fake BBB info. Pure junk!

I received an email from Jane Garcia, too.

I was just about to sign in for the chat interview when I decided that I better check it out more.

I found this page. THANKS SO MUCH, all of you! Never gave them my Soc or any other senstive info that I use for banking. What tipped me off? The part about western unions and moneygrams.

I just got the email from Jane Garcia.

To me any email that is unsolicited is suspect - sorry that may make me paranoid but then most of us remeber the book - Only the Paranoid Suvive.

Chekced around their website and wow - pure junk.

Added these guys to the spam filter.

So why is the AZ government not doing something about this scam ?  Oh I know why they are busy catching illegals who are earning $10 a day working like slaves while the legals in this country scam the job seekers. Wonderful!

I received the email from Jane Garcia and I too was confused by it.  It was just too weird.  My girlfriend said the email address was a red flag because Jane's email should have been design distributing - not hotmail.  So she Googled Design Distributing, Arizona and this blog showed up explaining everything.  It's really sad to know that people will actually fall for this kind of thing. It's like that TV ad where people go into a fake bank and give up all their identification.  I probably would have too if it hadn't been for my girlfriend's skepticism.  Guess I'll keep her after all.....

Thank goodness I went a step further and googled Design Distributing, Inc. Arizona... and found this!!!!!

I got this from Career Builder.  They even have a Better Business Bureau page with an A+ rating that may be fake.  I called the BBB of Arizona and the info only half matches.  I then emailed them the link to the BBB profile that Mr. Gordon sent me.  They said they'll look at it and verify it.  I have to admit at first I kinda fell for this one. I physically spoke to "James Gordon" on the phone.  I registered on the site and gave my email and phone number.  Am I in trouble?  Anyway, Mr. Gordon called me from a (518) area code.  Checked that and it's in Albany, NY - and it's a LAND LINE.  I spoke to him, and asked him where he was.  Said he was in Phoenix.  Apparently his land line stretches all the way to Phoenix.  This is puzzling.  I hope to get to the bottom of this one soon.

Where do I begin. Got that email this morning and their 'company website' is a joke. I can't believe anyone would not be skeptical of this. The grammar alone was a tip-off much less the lack of any real information about their 'company' on their website. And really, what kind of legitimate business requires you to create a personal bank account to process THEIR funds and they ask you to email them at a HOTMAIL address? Scheisty

When you fill out a job application you give them your name, address, phone number, and social security number - everything the need to steal your identity.

Another poster - a couple of entries before yours - said they charge $$$ to help you find a job.
