Because you never know when you or someone important to you will require blood products. Until there are synthetics this is the way it works.
Besides, it's shouldn't be about their profit. It should be about what each of us can do for one another.

We always gave blood until NY Blood Services stopped using their name on Caller ID. They never leave voicemail. They also call from many different numbers.
We stopped answering callers we don't know about 2 years ago when 90% of our incoming calls were telemarketers. This isn't  an area code located in my state so we certainly wouldn't have picked up. Caller ID shows Dialer.
I called NY Blood Services about a year ago and let them know they're loosing donors by not using proper Caller ID or leaving voicemail. The woman was very rude and hung up on me.
This is a bad way to conduct a vital business.

Not a collection agency.  We don't owe anything and I got that call this morning. Telemarketer or scam probably.

I'm ignoring it. Why give blood so they can profit?

Received a call at 7:49pm on a Sunday evening seeking a blood donation.  Please do not call me.  My number is unlisted for a reason, and that does include calls for solicitation.  I will give my blood at my own choosing.  Your call does not make me want to give blood but quite the opposite!!!!!

Blood Bank.  Very annoying.  They call at least once a week.

This number keeps calling my phone at work as I am the secretary who always picks up every phone call - its it a company phone line for customers - every time they call and hear my verbal greeting for a customer - they hang up. they call everyday and no one ever has the decency to say "hey its NYBC - were looking for donors" - they just hang up midway through me speaking.  Its getting irritating and im going to call them back and complain .

Got  call from this number.  When I called back, there was no one there. SO.   Is the blood center using a scam as is every other agency lately.  If you are legit, leave a message.

Same thing just happened to me. I did donate recently through a work sponsored blood drive so it would make sense that they have my work number.

It is the NY Blood center. Yes, its a NJ area code, but they have location's in NJ, NY, and I think CT also. Odd thing is, they call me (at work) and when I pick up, there is no one on the other end.

The NY Blood Center makes sense - they have been hounding me lately for my O+ blood, and this number called me this morning (I let it go to voicemail, no message left).  Even though they are affiliated with "New York Blood Services," they do have offices in NJ as well.

Keep getting calls daily from them...hardly ever leave a message...might be collection agency as my medical bills are behind on payment but only 1 message from a guy with a heavy Indian accent that you can't understand...might have mentioned a file # and to call him back.
