I forgot to mention that F.S.M.'s bogus address in their emailed verification letter was "1823 E. 17th Street, Suite 203, Santa Ana, CA 92705." This address is actually real. It's an address for the "Hillview Building". We called the Hillview Building, but the number was disconnected. We researched the BBB before contacting the Federal Trade Commission and the Santa Ana Police Dept. We found no company website for First Source Management with this address. We're pretty certain nothing will be done about this bogus debt collector, but at least now we know. Be careful out there!

There is a FSM Group but as you can see from their BBB report they have some credibility problems. Predatory business practices, threatening, and intimidating is a sure sign of scammers. Validation letters should only be through the USPS. Glad you avoided this scam. http://www.bbb.org/southern-nevada/business-r ... -vegas-nv-71140 there's more to FSM http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/FSM-Group-Aka-US-Fast-Cash/nationwide/FSM-Groupaka-USFast-Cash-Calling-me-to-say-that-I-am-beign-charged-for-fraud-by-disception-187171

A male from F.S.M. (First Source Management) called my cell phone today. Their information showed up as "withheld". I answered. This person stated that F.S.M. was about to send me a summons because I'd missed several court dates. He then gave me a number to call (909-295-8192). I called and "Don Smith" told me that I owed over $4,000 for an old Capital One credit card. He stated that he tried contacting me several times (Never). He even knew the last four of my social, my parent's names, and my current address.

Don stated that he could make a deal with me if I acted today. He could drop the amount down to just under $1,000, if I agreed to pay $50 this Friday. Don stated that as long as I agreed to give him my credit card number up front today, they could hold my card info until this Friday.

My girlfriend asked to speak with Don. She asked for a validation letter and got into an argument with Don in order to receive a letter to verify who they were. Throughout this process, Don would place my girlfriend on hold while he "talked everything over with the attorney." Don eventually handed the phone to his supervisor, "Patrick Bryant." Patrick told my girlfriend that in order to send the verification letter, he would need a bank card number to hold until Friday. My girlfriend told him "No." After arguing, eventually, Patrick gave in and sent me an email with a "verification letter."

My girlfriend checked out the email Patrick had sent me. There was no logo in the letterhead. The telephone number (562-356-9016) on the bogus letter wasn?t even close to matching the number who called me earlier. The letterhead on the ?validation letter? looked as though my 6 year old son could have typed it. She then Googled the address and phone number separately. She found no company website for F.S.M.

I noticed on the emailed ?letter? from Patrick Bryant that the dates and amounts for my old Capital One credit card were incorrect. I then went to www.annualcreditreport.com and downloaded my free credit report. My girlfriend and I called Capital One together (we got the Capital One number from the credit report). We asked Capital One several questions about F.S.M.  and nothing was correct according to the representative. We then reported all of this to the Federal Trade Commission as well as the Police Department of the phone number (909-295-8192).
