Called today 6/27/12 claiming they were the service providedfor BMW of Canada and received my information from them regarding my BMW. Uh, I live in US. Then wanted mileage and I asked didn't they have information from BMW. Said I might have driven 200 miles since then. They said I had 50,000 mile on last report. Oh Oh. Since I knew mileage is less than 30,000 I knew this was a scam. I asked if it was a solicitation for an extended warranty and they said no. They were just calling for BMW to explain my options as they were the "underwriter" for BMW. What a crock. I guess I asked too many questions because they then hung up. Caller ID showed "Dealer Services" and 732-918-9299

I finally put my cell phone number on the Do Not Call list and the calls stopped.
I have three cellular phone numbers but only got calls on one. Is it a mere coincidence that this is the only cell phone number that was given to Maryland State agency? This was the toll facility where I have an E-Z pass. My wife's name was also listed on the form I completed. Both of us get mail from car warranty crooks and I got the calls from the same thieves plus the credit card scammers.
Perhaps the O'Malley Administration made a fast buck selling these names to their crooked friends.
Bill Clinton is close to Info USA so the idea does seem credible.

pre-recorded comment about lowering interest rates on credit cards.
Jerks 2011-06-06 21:06:53 Unknown
Same as above. Message identified them as 'cardholder services' and then i pressed 1 to talk to the person. I've gotten a call from them before and told them to put me on the national do not call list. I spoke with a lady named 'Laura' who called the company 'consumer services.' I told her i had recieved a call from them before and would like to be put on the do not call list. She hung up immediately without another word.

Pressed one because I am tired of these better act now scams. I dont have a credit card so it was really obvious to me that this was garbage. A man calling himself Jim answered saying he was consumer services. I said I though they were trying to defraud me and he screamed " I absolutely detest what you are saying. Just hang up if your not interested, and don't press one you a**hole!"
I could care less except I know there are gullible folks in this world getting screwed by these scam "artists". Help out and press one and enjoy ruining a waste of skin's day.

I sleep days and twice they have called.. I tried to get them to stop listing to a bunch of pre-recorded numbers and pressing buttons but never talked to anyone and only went in circles.. I think we should all get one of those magic jack things or skype and just call them all the time..... How do these people live with themselves and how is this not harrasing...?

How bad do I want to see if this guy has the nerve to say these things if I am able to contact him? I would like to set up a dial station from random terminals across the area and see how he likes being interupted at work (by work I mean a real job). He is a coward and a loser.
Anonymous FIA Card Services Employee 2011-06-06 21:06:53 Unknown
About the illegal part of telemarketing or collection calls is the companies that use predictive dialers. The only way this is illegal is if you first list your mobile number on the National Do Not Call Registry.
As for this number being FIA Card Services, it is not. FIA is a prominent issuer of credit cards that include, Merrill Lynch, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, only to name a few. We have a department that handles institutions that try and dub themselves as FIA Card Services so I will be filing an investigation with them.
Many companies try to claim that they can lower your interest rate for you if you are willing to give them all your information, including social security number, billing address, home phone, and credit card number. Also they will want to charge you usually a fee that varies between $700 and a $1000. You do not need a company to lower your interest rate. A credit card company is no more willing to work with them then they are you. If you want to know if you qualify for a lower interest rate all you have to do is call and speak to a credit analyst. Most often if they cannot get you a lower rate they can get you some type of promotion, 0% on a balance transfer for 12 months or 0% on all gas purchases for 6 months.
I want to stress the importance that you do not ever need to use a company of this nature and I want to reassure you that this company has no affiliation with FIA or any credit card issuer.

Called my cell while I was at work. No message. I always look up numbers I don't recognize. Very annoying.
cougar 2011-06-06 21:06:53 Unknown
Why does anybody ever answer these phone calls? If you don't recognize a number, don't answer your phone. Not even a scammer will spend money to use a resource that is unproductive, so if nobody answers, the phone calls will eventually stop. Just don't answer. Don't call back. Delete the messages. Go on with your happy lives and ignore them. In this case, ignoring the problem really will make it go away. I mean, can you imagine a company, con artist, or scam, paying money for a phone system that never yields any results? Of course not! I am pretty sure that these calls are ultimately generated by the phone service providers so that their customers use more minutes, bringing the companies greater profit and justifying a greater use of bandwidth.
Art 2011-06-06 21:06:53 Unknown
The automated message stated the call was from "Card Services" and told me they could lower my interest rates by pushing the #1. I did (to see what info I could glean) and was asked if I'd like to lower my interest rates. I said, "Sure!" Then asked how much credit card debt I had, "$5,000" and how many cards I held, "3". Obviously, I wasn't a big enough fish for the guy, because he hung up without saying another word.
Next time I'll now better. I'll be over $20,000 in debt and have 6 cards and almost going under - drowning in high percentage interest rates.

Rec'd call this morning. I politely told the lady I wanted to be removed from their calling list, as I am on the National Do Not Call Registry, and she promptly hung up without saying another word. Somehow, I doubt I've been taken off their list.

Thank you all for the info. I never answered this call and they had taken advantage of this by repeatedly calling and calling. After reading some of the comments, I called back after receiving another call today and now hopefully I am off their calling list!

THANK YOU TONY! You really do kick a** these people have been bugging me for weeks but I didn't actually know who they were. They used the old 234567891 # on me too among others. I will be pursuing the options that you mentioned though. Thanks!

I did a little research yesterday, copy this link and paste for a little more info http://www.city-data.com/forum/business-finan ... total-scam.html. I mistook the number for a business that I have been working with. Once I realized my error, I pressed "2" to request to be removed from the call list. A man answered and I asked to be removed from the call list. The man replied "Yeah, I really don't think that is going to happen." I told him that I was calling my lawyer if I continue to be called, and he said "Where is your lawyer, put him on the phone, oh wait, you're not with him, you can't, you don't have a lawyer you f**king B**tch." He then hung up the phone. I did contact my lawyer with the number, and I am continuing to research.
