We have received a few calls asking for the cell phone number of our maintenance manager. It just so happens, they were given the phone number to "Gunner" with our local police department when they kept demanding. We have backup in case they call back...we have numbers for "Frank" with the FCC, "Jewel" with the jail reception and "Vic" with county vehicle impound. Maybe "Steve" will have better luck scamming them. I love my job!

Asked for the person who takes care of the shop.  Knew it wasn't a legit call, so as usual I tell him we don't have anyone "taking care of the shop".  Wanted to verify info for relay switches that were ordered (total bull).  Told him I would take his number and have someone call him back.  He said, 'ok, you have a pen?' and hung up.
The most irritating thing about these idiotic callers is that you have to put a legitimate caller on hold to answer calls like this!

This is the light bulb scam-The guys are always rude and pretend that they are an electrician working for so-and-so, etc., and try to obtain the name of the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager or his cell phone number. Once they get his/her name, they ship unauthorized parts on a PO that uses the name (if they are lucky enough to get one) as the PO#.  The unsuspecting company is billed an outrageous amount for lights that can be bought at Home Depot for a fraction of the cost. And they jack you around trying to return them. There are several other posts regarding this scam, and if you go to RipOff Report, there are numerous complaints against the company (they usually give various names but same MO).  I talked to one @$$--- and he sounded like he had been smoking crack for 5 days straight. Also use ph. # 909-670-2218 and 909-267-6074. Our company is based in Ca., and we have one supplier from the La Verne area, but most will show company name on caller ID. If you want to have fun with them, give them some random number found on 800 notes as the Maint. Mgr. cell number!

Got a phone call from this guy who wanted to speak to the shop manager. I told him we didn't have one.  He said, well I spoke with someone last week who said he was the manager - but he couldn't remember what his name was and would I help him to remember.  I told him - I know you didn't speak to the "Manager" because I am the only one here and we don't have one and that all I could do is take his name and number and have one of the bosses call him back. He wanted their names. I told him I wanted to keep my job, so NO.  He hung up

Just got a call from 909-670-2290 the guy asked for Service, I asked what kind of service was he calling for.  He said you do decks right, I told him no we do not do decks.  He said someone told him that we clean decks and house, I asked if he was referring to pressure washing, he said yes.  I put him on hold and when I came back I told him that the person that takes care of pressure washing was on the phone, could I have his name and number.  He asked if I had a pen and paper, I replied yes (i thought what a dumb question) then he hung up.  BUTT-HEAD

Guy claimed to be from National Lighting and wanted to send me a catalog. Said they had just did a big job for Bass Pro and "did I ever visit Bass Pro?" Well anyway they had received a bunch of small hunting/utility knives from Bass Pro to give away. He was going to drop one in the bag for me. Couldn't get rid of him; finally had to hang up on him.

They call every day with several different numbers; 909-670-2290, 2291, 2218, 2995.    They are rude, argumentative and they do not take no for an answer.    I have blocked their number at the main office but now they have continued to call our sattelite offices.   My last resort was to contact the FCC.    They called again and they were informed they were reported to the FCC; no calls have come in since that time.

Same as everyone else. This guy calls all the time for our maintenance manager and states he is in the warehouse and needs to talk to him right away. He demands his cell phone number and then overly rude because we won't give it out. Today he claimed he was Steve with National Electric and was working at one of our locations and it was urgent. When I questioned which location and what he was needing he couldn't even tell me where he was and then asked to speak to somewhat else who wouldn't interrogate him. I asked for his number so we could call him back and he hung up. SCAM!!! 909-670-2290

A man who calls himself Steve has called the office I work at multiple times, blatantly lying by saying that he's spoken to our owner, the guys at our shop, etc. I patched him through to my manager who, kindly at the time told him we were not interested and asked that he remove us from his call list as he had lied and manipulated her office staff. Unfortunately, he continued to call and at one point, managed to get really sneaky and mess up; he said, "I just got off the phone with this guy, I can't remember his name," so my coworker gave him a fake name and he immediately jumped on it. He called twice after that, asking for someone who doesn't work here, to which we told him we did not have a "Tony" working in our office. We thought he had finally given up but then called again today.

After his incessant calling and lying, my manager spoke to him again and harshly told him to stop contacting us and he was very disrespectful. I thought after that, he would stop calling but unfortunately he called again five minutes later trying to pull the same stunt. VERY RUDE & INCESSANT. They enjoy toying with people, don't even bother picking up.

How Rude!  Don't pick up any calls from this number.  Didn't state a name and insisted that he had spoken with our Facilities Manager last week, but could not recall his name.  When I stated that we don't give out names and I could not transfer him without a name or extension number he blew up.  I asked him if he would like to be sent to the Facilities Manger's voice mail he said sure.  I dumped him into a dummy voice mail box, which I use for all such telephone calls. Do not pick up any calls from:  909-670-2290.

I asked him who he spoke with and he couldn't remember because his cell phone died and that's where he had the number and name.  (yeah right) said he was at his warehouse and had a part for our maintenance guy.  i said well if this was for real you would have the name and number.  he said when he had more information he would call back.  i told him, don't bother> definate scam

Prank Call
Has been calling my business for over a month. Sometimes he knows the name of my Maintenance Supervisor and sometimes he doesn't. I have refused to give him any information and it seems to irritate him more and he is extremey pushy. Today, his name was "Stevel" from National. He wanted me to give out my maintenance guy's cell phone number. I told him he was busy and could not come to the phone at the moment. I told him that he could give me his number and I will have him call him back...the cell phone number he gave me was a local number and was disconnected....imagine that.  This is the number that comes up on caller ID everytime he calls...never a cell number. He said that he was at thewarehouse right now and couldn't wait. He had our maintenance guys number, but not handy at the moment.   Some times when he calls he is very rude and threatens to "come down there" if we do not share the information.  This call is the first time he has given a name and company.  Usually he will hang up.  we need to stop this caller some way!

A man who claimed to be in Florida but whose Caller ID read California (909-670-2290) wanted to verify where our company was located and recited the street address.  Without responding, I asked what the call was in reference to.  He wanted to speak with either the maintenance or service manager, which sounded as if he were looking for a car dealership (he denied this, however.)  I said that I couldn?t transfer him without a specific contact, the phone directories went by last name only, and he thought that was odd.  Next he requested the maintenance department, and I replied there was no general department line.  Then he asked for the cafeteria but loudly hung up when I questioned what that had to do with maintenance.

90% of people in India do not finish school. When they call, they're reading from script. The poor language, and reading skills are noticeable. That's why they hang up when you start to ask questions. Good honest people, have good honest jobs. So that narrows down the type of person calling you.

This number calls multiple time per week!  Some guy, obviously working in a call center, rudely asks for the maintenance manager.  Won't give me his name, the company he's calling from or why he's calling.  I've tried calling the number back to be removed from the list without any luck.  Definitely a scam!

This guy is a scammer. He called saying he talked to the head of our maintenance dept. about a relay. When our maintenance guy got on the phone he asked if he was the guy who did the purchasing. Then when our guy said I thought you were calling about  a relay, the caller hung up. The person in this thread who says it's a legit call is a liar and probably in on it.

Caller wants to speak with maintenance or warehouse foreman.  Told we don't have one.  Then wants salesman.  Again told we don't have one.  Claims it is about an actual order we placed last week and he has forgotten the name.  I advised that we did have estimators.  He wanted their names because if he heard the name he would remember.  I made up two names and he picked one.  I then told him there were NO men named Mark that worked here.  He became irate and wanted to know why I would do such a thing like that to him.  While trying to explain that I did it because I knew he was a scammer and lying he hung up on me.  We are a small office so I have passed around the 909-670-2290 phone number so that everyone knows to give him a hard time.  I love playing this game.

I have worked the phones for 5 years and have never seen anything like this.....

The first call comes in at around 10AM. The caller ID shows it as from California and the number as 909-670-2290.  The individual presented himself as a maintenance technician who had talked with our maintenance guy last week and didn?t remember his name. I informed him we did not have a maintenance technician and that those responsibilities are handled by building management. I apologized and said that I did not have their number. The caller became upset and asked how we got in touch with them. I said we simply walk downstairs to their office. The caller then demanded to be transferred to our finance department. At this time I had been on the phone for about 4 minutes and it was clear this call was a telemarketer at best so I hung up.

Moments afterward the phone rings and it is the same number (909-670-2290). I did not answer as I knew it was the same caller. A brief second afterward another call comes in. The caller ID displayed the name as Michele Crowley and the phone number was 856-761-7237. I assumed it was a different caller and answered the phone as I always do. The same man from before is on the other end and demands to know if I hung up on him. He proceeds to get extremely irate and ask, ?Did you f-ing hang up on me?. Flabbergasted I said, ?I?m sorry but I did not come to work today to have this conversation? and I hung up.

The phone continues to ring ? two lines at once. The 909 number and the 856 number. It is apparent it is the same guy. I decide to ignore it and put the calls to voicemail. Eventually I pick up again and without waiting for an answer I say, ?We will not be answering anymore, please stop calling have a nice day? and then I hang up. This doesn?t dissuade him and he keeps calling non-stop. Probably 8-10 more times (2 lines at once). Steve happens to be near my desk observes the calls that I?m silencing and asks what is going on. I explain the situation and Mio offers to answer in the hopes of putting the harassment to bed.

Steve answers and is on the phone for approximately 5 minutes. He tries to get the caller to identify himself, his company, and explain what he needs from us. The caller accused me of calling him a ?scumbag? (DID NOT HAPPEN) and said that he would file a complaint with the BBB and the owner.  Steve offers his assistance many times over throughout the call. The man eventually explains that he is a maintenance technician and needs to go back to the warehouse to get another part, but never gives his name or the company he works for. Steve asks him to stop calling and they hang up.

Very rude, very insistent, gets indignant easily, will call a dozen times if you hang up. IGNORE THIS CALLER! It is definitely a scam/prank call.
