They called me as well and told me that an investigator was going to be at my job Monday morning and I have been waiting for 2 weeks now.  If they call again, I am going to get information from them and file a complaint on www.ic3.gov

I got the same message.  Called back.  Asked where they were located.  They asked "why".  I said "because this is a scam and I'm bringing the police and coming to your office - now - so give me the address."  They hung up.

the federal law for credit collection. You have the right to request a written copy of the debt being collected on and the address and phone numbers.of those collecting this debt. until you receive this they cannot contact you.  You must also tell them that any calls are being recorded and they need to agree to the recording. This will stop them also.  Never give them credit card or bank information.  They are a scam and they use information. They have no legal power and they know this.

He left me a message, he said that I or my attorney needed to call him back as soon as possible or face legal consequences. He also said that if I didn't call back, all he could do was wish me the best in what would happen next.

I called back (terrified), and he (with what sounded like a genuine Indian accent) read me an affidavit claiming that I owed CashUSA money and that I was being taken to court for refusing to pay. I have never taken out a payday advance loan with that company. He recited the last four digits of my social security number (which, apparently, is frighteningly easy for someone to get ahold of) and knew which bank I worked through.

He claimed that his client had sent me several e-mails (which I never received) and that if it was taken to court, I would incur over $5,000 in fees, not counting the original loan amount or my own legal fees. He claimed that they would call and report me to my employer, and that I could lose my job. Then, after I explained to him several times that I didn't understand (I'm 23, and have never been in any sort of legal trouble before in my life) what was going on and where this was coming from, he said that if I promised that I had good intentions and that I was not purposefully trying to steal the money, he would talk to his boss and his client and try to arrange an out-of-court solution to the problem, where I would simply pay back to loan + late fees by 5pm the same day Pacific Time. The total resulted amount was a little over $700.

He would not send me paperwork, an e-mail, or any other type of proof that this was real, he did not state which law firm he worked for, did not state the original loan amount I allegedly applied for, and when I looked up his phone number afterwards, it was traced to a cell phone number in California. He went so far as to tell me that if this went to court, my credit score would go down significantly, that I would lose my job, and that I would not be eligible for employment for A FULL YEAR.

When I looked up the number, I found one other person who received the same exact message, but who didn't call back. He/She received the same message a few more times as well, but after telling him off, he hasn't called back so far. I got him to talk to his boss about the "favor" (his words) he was doing me about trying to settle out of court and he's supposed to call me back in half an hour. I was hoping to do research in that time, and here I am. I'm calling this as a huge scam. He hasn't called me back yet, and it's been about an hour.
