I got called from the same number. Threatened me and would not let it go. He said the only way I could fix it was to go to wal-mart to get a prepaid card. If you do that you can not challenge it because it is like cash. He also said that I only had two weeks to come up with the money. Or NC courts would take me to court. He had a far east accent and I asked for someone else and the changed his voice and hung up on me. He would not give up I took the night to look in to it and I called my state attonery general the local FBI office and the FTC. It is a full on scam and do not let them take your money. The FBI does not act this way. Be safe and hope no ones gives out there money to these people

So this guy called me today as well.  Said his name was Officer Austin Reed and told me that I was in violation of Federal Banking laws.  I asked him for information and he told me that an attorney would need to contact him.  His number is (910) 685-7390 ext 302.   This is definately a scam!  Don't give them any information.

I recieved a phone call today from some guy claiming to be a federal agent with the fbi's bank fraud division. He was very offical gave me a case number and his badge number. Then he went on to tell me that i had recieved some sort of loan and was deliquent on repaying it. I tried to explain that i had never taken out a loan or been given one and he went on to explain that i might as well just pay cause i have no chance on beating it in court and it was gonna reek havoc on my credit score etc. I tried to get information from him in regards to the lender and the time of the loan but got nothing but more about how i needed to act now cause time is something not afforded to me. I told him i had to check with my bank and he said i only had five hours to make a decision on wether or not i was gonna pay or go to trial.  He never gave me any type of informati+on, just kept trying to verify mine.  This guy called me at my job and left me with quite an amount of explaining to do.

This guy calls every 6 months. He changes his name but it is the same guy and same number. At first I was worried and contacted the cops. They said it was a scam and to document the call and ignore it. Now when he calls I keep a log of it, report it to the phone company the number is listed in (in North Carolina) and tell the guy he is a scam and fraud and that he can go F himself. Makes me feel better at least. So far, nothing has happened to me from the Federal Investigation Department (where he claims to be from) and nothing has shown up on my credit reports for fraud. He is looking for the sucker to be scared and send him the money with out asking questions!

I think it's on day three of them calling over and over.  Funny thing is it's the same guy calling from two different numbers - this one and then a 646 number.  Don't even bother answering.  It is a scam just let them leave the messages and laugh as they tell you about the "situation that will unfold on you" and then tell you to have a "blessed day and God bless you."

Too bad this obviously foreign "gentleman" is trying to use an obviously American name.  I have yet to be able to figure out what he is saying when he says his name.

I get these calls about once a month and they go for about a week or so then go away for a while.  They are scams.  I have noticed if you don't answer they will leave a message and then leave you alone for the rest of the day.  However, if you give them some attention then they will call and call and call.  They are illegal and a bother and unfortunately, even though I have complained to the proper officials there is nothing being done.  It's probably hard to find them because they are calling from some cave or something - it sure sounds like it when he calls.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.

If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller?s instructions. Rather, you should:

?Notify your banking institutions.
?Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
?Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
?File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

?Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
?Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
?Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
?Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
?Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
?When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements
