I received a call from the 629-7500 and the lady explained this was a medical debt and she was trying to collect. I asked for a copy of the bill or some type of explanation of the charges and she stated "they" don't mail out bills. I told her I couldn't do anything unless I saw some paper work. She then hung up.

Debt Collector
I posted this yesterday on the link for the 800 # this company uses. I'm repeating it here because the call actually came from 912-629-7500.

Mr Shaffer, Today I retuned a phone call from a rep at 629-7500. He stated that I owed money to Atlantic Radiology for services in October 2013. I assured him that I would look into it and take care of it if I did own the money. He wasn't satisfied with that answer and wanted a firmer commitment immediately. I PROMISED him that if it turns out that it was not paid, I would pay it. He wanted to know how soon. I said tomorrow.  He said he would keep it on his desk only until NOON tomorrow, May 9, 2014. He was belligerent and I disconnected the call. He immediately called me back and left a VOICEMAIL stating that "it was clear that I had no intention of paying, something about taking care of business, and someone would be knocking at my door". Not sure who he meant would be knocking at my door. I called back the 629-7500 and told the female who answered that I would like to speak to a supervisor. She put me on hold for at least 20 minutes before coming back on. (Pretty sure it was the same female).  I told her about the threatening message and that I didn't think that was allowable practices. Then, the same hold music came back, she had put me on hold while I was speaking!!! A supervisor?? Of course, she wasn't. It was probably to make some comments to her fellow reps and maybe you also, as you say your desk is right there. And she wasn't sure whether a threat was not allowed. Too bad you weren't doing QC today. Then she kept asking me for my address, which I would have thought you had since you had my phone number. I told her that I was still recovering from my recent chemo, I was in bed, and that I would follow up tomorrow. Seems that is not good enough for Profit Services. I'm embarrassed by how emotional I became, but sometimes terminally ill people are more fragile. And you know, the reason that I wanted to double check it? Because since March 1, 2013 I have been trying to get Atlantic Radiology to resubmit a bill to Blue Cross that was filed with the incorrect pre-cert date. That was resolved LAST WEEK, and the charge was resubmitted to the insurance company. But, you wouldn't believe, or care about, the toll that took on my health. But, throughout that, Atlantic Radiology, and the collection agency that they had sent it to, were very courteous. Any how, after finding this website and reading all your responses and insults to people, I looked up the Federal Trade Commission's web page regarding debt collection. I'm sure that you are familiar with it, but for the benefit of others, it says:

Can a debt collector keep contacting me if I don?t think I owe any money?
If you send the debt collector a letter stating that you don?t owe any or all of the money, or asking for verification of the debt, that collector must stop contacting you. You have to send that letter within 30 days after you receive the validation notice. But a collector can begin contacting you again if it sends you written verification of the debt, like a copy of a bill for the amount you owe.

What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:
use threats of violence or harm;
publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
use obscene or profane language; or
repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.
False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren?t; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren?t legal forms if they are.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of - these calls have been coming to my cell # for 6 months or more - same number shows up on ID and CALLER ID DOES NOT LIE MR SHAFFER - the number is 912-629-7500 - I personally talked to a lady that she was a debt collector calling for a hospital and was looking for BARBARA ALLISON - I told her I am not her, don't know her, not kin to her and don't want to know her - she apologized and hung up - the phone calls CONTINUED another 6 months.  Can't this be stopped?  Please?  They are calling on my cell phone and I have very limited amount of minutes.  At least now I have memorized the number so I don't answer any more.

Recording on my voicemail " This is not an attempt to collect a debt, please call 912-629-7500.  By all posts I see including the one from Tim Shaffer, this is a collection company.  So you just compounded the lie because the automated program says it is not an attempt to collect a debt.

The use of robo calls to collect a debt is in violation of the Federal Consumers Protection Act. To attempt to collect a debt without providing a hard copy of the debt AND CHARGES is also a violation of the FCPT. To continually contact someone on their cell phone without that persons expressed consent is a violation. Fines vary up to $1000. $500,000 for a class action. Contact an attorney who specializes in stopping debt collectors who violate the law.

You can ignore Timmy here. He's just one of the hundreds of Junk/Phantom debt collectors in this country that p**sy-foot around the law in the hope that they can turn their mole-hills into mountains. He's nothing more than a delusional, small-time gambler who has come to the realization that his dreams of hitting the big time have all been for naught.
Times are getting tougher for his kind of operators. People are catching on & they're being educated by people who owe no delinquent debt. People who have no fear of 3rd party debt collection outfits. People who know the debt collection industry from the inside out. People who can recite the federal & state regulations regarding debt collection from memory. People with the means, intelligence & desire to put the entire 3rd party debt collection industry in to the trash pile where it has always belonged.
Timmy here can see the writing on the wall. There's not a damn thing he can do to change, or deter, the inevitable. He's getting more desperate by the day. Hence, his desperate attempts at interdiction by starting to reply to posts that are years old. We're seeing this behavior from outfits all across the country. From LA to Savannah. From Ft. Lauderdale to Seattle. They're starting to figure out that their pipe-dreams were never anything more than just that. Smoke.
When it all falls to dust, fools like Timmy here will be left with nothing more than the judgements against them. Which will do the people awarded those judgements no good. The old saying about getting blood from a turnip is true. On the bright side, people like Timmy here aren't going to be able to count on bankruptcy protection. People like Timmy have already burnt those bridges. Their lives will be based on petty LLCs and assets exclusively held in wives and girlfriends names. He'll really enjoy that in the future! We all know how that will go.
Pity the fool. A wasted life held together with dreams....ending in the inevitable nightmares. Stupid is, as stupid does.

And of course once someone calls you back on debts beyond the statute of limitations, you attempt to use that as a rationale for restarting the SOL.     It appears the real reason you received an "F" rating by the BBB is because they didn't have any grade lower.

Strange? when you look up the thread for 800-234-0984, the ?Tim Shaffer? posting there is claiming to be the owner of the company at that number.  And he is also asking the other posters to call him at 912-629-7500 so he can ?try to help? just like the ?Tim Shaffer? posting here.
It makes one wonder...

You're not in their system because they're working off their associated list and they're predatory cowards calling family, friends, elderly, vulnerable and uninformed. If they've called you make complaints to their BBB followed with complaints to all state and federal consumer protection agencies. The only wrong number, wrong name, or whatever BS excuse they use is disguised to mislead and disinform. When a collection coward calls it's not by mistake! In your complaint talk about associated with an account.
