In response to your opening comment, I am not an ignorant person.  I just checked the Better Business Bureau website to determine if Edison Publishing was a member, and that name does not match any search criteria through BBB.  Under a complaints website concerning Edison, it clearly states Edison Publishing is not BBB accredited. Therefore, I would suggest you do your research before calling people ignorant.  I had a telephone conversation with a couple of gentlemen in customer service with Edison Publishing this morning regarding a telephone call I received about magazines, and I will say the two gentlemen with whom I spoke were very helpful and courteous in trying to help me resolve my issue.  Obviously the call I received concerning the magazines was not from Edison Publishing, so someone gave me bogus information.  Of course, I cannot comment on any of these other complaints listed concerning Edison as to whether they are true or untrue, but I can say my contact with them was very pleasant.  In my case, someone called saying I owed money, etc., which I do not owe.  They claimed to be with Edison, which obviously they were not.  Edison's name was given to me as part of a scam, and I hope they can find out who is doing it.

Why then are there so many complaints against this company? The BBB says that Edison Publishing is not registered with them. I have been a victim of this scam. Any time you offer a gift card and replace it with a voucher that is a scam.

well scam might be a strong worl lol i too was a victim i was fast sold on the mags while my blood sugars were out of controll i have yet to redeem my so called gifts that has strings attached but on the other hand i am recieving my full priced mags  so what can i say  anyway have a good one

I STARTED RECEIVING MAGAZINES AFTER EDISON PUBLISHING COTANCTED ABOUT MAGAZINES. I WAS TOLD IF I BOUGHT 3 MAGAZINES. I WOULD RECEIVE A $100.00 WAL-MART GIFTT. IT WAS TO ORDER 3 MAGAZINES AND 3 ONLY. NOW THEY ARE BILLING ME 38.56 A MONTH FOR 5 YEARS. I DID NOT AGREE TO THAT AT ALL. HOW DO I GET THEM FROM CALLING MCE.

When I answered a few questions, on line, I received a phone call about a$100.00 gift card to Walmart! I agreed to ordering the magazines. It did not not seem that unfair. Purchace a few magazines  and get a gift card. Well, I never got my $100.00 gift card to Walmart. I called the company and they said they would send it out. I got a REBATE CARD!  B***S*** THE  PEOPLE!  You are NOT going to take advantage of me or anyone else in the future or the past! YOU WILL GIVE EVERYONE A $100.00 GIFT CERTIFICATE TO WALMART AS PROMISED!!!! Uhh, yeah folks--it's a scam. it was immediately obvious to me that anyone with half a brain or without some kind of shopping addiction would NEVER buy this. The part they tell you about magazines being more concerned with add revenue is true, of course. But you could get individual subscriptions to those magazines for about a fifth of what they're charging you. And you'd likely only have to commit to 12 months, not f-in SIXTY!!! It's a good sales pitch, a lead-in that starts with a giveaway and ends with a 5-year subscription to magazines. Almost a thousand dollars over two years...for...MAGAZINES! Not to sound TOO too condescending, but even if you're REALLY a HUGE magazine lover...get your own subscriptions. Only buy what you need and do the research before committing even to short term commitments.

To start out; I am a college student and was just recently laid off from work. I signed up for Edison publishing magazines because I wanted to get rolling stone and was under the impression that I would be getting rolling stone for 16 dollars and some odd cents per month, the nice lady signing me up told me I could add 3 more magazines for FREE. I said sure, I'll take what I can get especially for free. I signed up and within 20 minutes 33 dollars was taken from my account. I called back and the lady i spoke to told me that I agreed to it and the contact was final. I told her no, take me off of it now and hung up. My card number was compromised and used for some crazy 1000$ purchases in other countries that was declined( DUH IM A COLLEGE STUDENT). I called them and said they were the only purchase ive made in the past YEAR that wasnt in person, and i felt as though they compromised my card and demanded they end my account and discard of my information. Not done of coarse, 2 rolling stone magazines sent to my address I gave them, 2 random magazines to my mothers house(never gave them that address) later, i got a call at 8pm on Halloween to collect a supposed 109$ overdue since I got a new credit card. I told them I can't pay, I just lost my job and tried to get rid of my account 2 months ago. I would understand if they had sent the magazines to my one address and every month, but no. I refused, told him I wanted to see a bill and hung up. They sent me a bill to my new address (another piece of info I didn't disclose to them) and I owe them a magical 134$ with a payoff amount of 534$!!!! I cant do this!! I pay for school by myself and don't live at home & am desperately looking for a job. THIS IS SUCHA SCAM. I will NEVER do this ever again. I will be having my strong willed, and not so nice, mother help me out of this. I have no credit and I will be damned if this makes it bad.

Obviously a number of people including myself have been lied to and cheated out of our money by Edison Publishing. Forums like this are useful and I am greatful that they exist, but by the time people discover these forums it's already too late, we have been scamed out of our hard earned cash!
Therefore, I suggest that each one of you takes five minutes to contact : The Florida Attorney Generals' office to file a complaint against Edison Publishing. This is the only way to put an end to scam artists. DO IT!

I received a call from a woman named Juanita (she spelled her name for me), who said I won a $100 voucher that I could use at home depot, target or many other stores. I asked where she got my information and she said online a survey I filled out. I asked what the name of the company was and she gave me the full address and information to which I googled and found this site. She then asked for my birthday, to which I did not give her this information. I said that online there were 80 BBB complaints saying that people were told they won a voucher but then later never received it and were asked to buy something. I told her this and she then backtracked saying, "Yes you do need to buy something and we never said you won a voucher we just said that you had become eligible". At this point she was lying to my face. I told her I was not interested in giving her any of my personal information or buying anything. And I told her about all the bad reviews online. She apologized and hung up. How scary! THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM!!!!!!!! SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM

You should go back to school and learn how to spell.  Maybe then you could get a real job with a reputable company...maybe even learn to think for yourself.

Please cancel my order that I placed with Edison publishing on 9-15-2011 and discard all of my information. thank you for your help.

I also recieved this call promising me of the 100$ walmart  voucher and a gift basket worth over 1500$ if i subscribed to a weekly magazine and then would recieve three others for free for 60 months. The manager got on the line and agreed to lket me pay just one month at a time insteAD OF THE TWO TO THREE MONTHS THAT THEY NORMALLY ASK FOR. Im a dissabled mother of four children and started worrying about signing up for this and went to call and cancel and when I called I called like 5 times the number they gave me only it disconnected each time after 33 seconds. I watched my cell phone to see if it was the same everytime so then I looked it up on the internet an tried to send an email only that didnt seem as if it worked either. When I call the other number I used to reach them before it tells me it doesnt recognize my number and hangs up on me. I signed up on 9-15-2011 at 7:25 and I wish to cancel today on 9-18-2011 at 6:26.  I was told I had 5 days to cancel so I am canceling in plenty of time

I got a text message saying to call a number because I received a gift card, and I called the number because I'm signed up for a program called "free", and I assumed the text was from that company. When I got on the phone, the woman I spoke with didn't ask any personal information, so I thought I was okay. Then she asked my address to send the giftcard to, which I gave her thinking that was sensible. Then the woman started going on and on about magazine subscriptions and she said if I paid for one magazine, I could get three others, of my choosing, for free. She asked me for my credit card information, and I told her I refuse to give my credit card information over the phone. She then referred me to her manager (Raymond Roy ext. 1053) who proceeded to yell at me for refusing to give my information saying that "wasn't a legitimate reason" and asked what was really "holding me back." I told him I don't give personal information like that over the phone, to which he replied, "You can always report fraudulant charges on  a credit card." I then told him I absolutely refuse to do that, and he yelled at me again, and then he hung up the phone. Not only fraud, but PSYCHOS!

I would appreciate it if you could remove all of my personal info from this Co..There are so many discrepincies in what i was told..Now i don't know what to think..Please !!!!! Help me if you can..

I just sent an e-mail to the person who called us ignorant people..I now wish i 'd have scrolled down further before i typed the darn thing...I too was told by the lady i could cancel & then couldn't by the man..I didn't remember that until i just read your comments..Now; i don't know what to think!!! If what you say is true;how in the world can they get away with this..I was really willing to give them the benefit of the doubt but now i don't know..

I would like to respond to your message..First; i am not ignorant nor do i appreciate being put in that class.!!
 That being said;I was contacted by a very nice lady (who i regrettably don't remember her name) that told me i won &40 gift card & a gift basket with various things in it. Then a nice gentlemen who said he was her supervisor & asked me to verify some info which i did.He also asked if the lady was courteous & i replied very much so..
 Now; i believe they were from Edison publishing & don't feel it was a scam .At least i'm giving them the benefit of the doubt..
 My husband is not very happy however that i' ll be having pmts.taken out of our card so he demanded i cancel the things i was to get.. I am so sorry but seeing as how i am disabled & he pays the bills i can't argue with him..
  I also tried calling the toll free # i was given & a voice gave me instructions ;which i followed to the letter but each time i was waiting ,the phone would cut off...After the 7th time,i decided to e-mail you...I regret any inconvenience this may cause,but under the circumstance i need to cancel everything..

I work at this company and I hate it. Edison Publishing is scamming people left and right. When i first started i thought it was a good place to work and good company. They now want us to offer a gift basket valued at OVER $2000, which is all bull. So as of today i quit, i appolgize to all the people i have signed up. So if they call just HANG UP!!!!!!!!! We received a similar call and text message from 1-800-344-0017 and 1-888-835-8711 today. The first agent is nice and promised we will receive $100 Walmart gift card and other benefits. She also gave us the website of Edison Publishing (http://edisonmagazines.com/) and said we can cancel our order anytime through the website.

After 2 minutes, the other guy (1-786-358-5655) called us and said that the order cannot be canceled and will last 30 months. It is definitely a SCAM.

We are forced to cancel our credit card. Thanks so much to this company.

Found out the number 1-888-835-8711 (cell phone display) belongs to the Edison Publishing Company in Pompano Beach FL (I told the guy who asked me for my name that I'd give him my name if he'd give me that address and when he didn't respond I then said are you located at Delray Beach, FL or Pompano Beach FL - he said Pompano Beach so one of the two is screwing with everybody).  Earlier today when I told a different guy my problem at the same number and wanted to make a complaint he gave me the customer service number to the Delray Beach office.  What a load of BULL!  These people are out to get people good.

On my cell phone (number no longer in service I had disconnected because of you), Monday, 9/5/11 at 4;15 p.m., I received a call from your company 1-888-835-8711 (I called it just now and the guy answered "Edison Publishing" - so it is your company scamming people).  On Sunday, the girl said I'd been chosen to receive a $100 Walmart Gift Card and am I interested - I said sure.  After, she said she would send me a magazine that I would pay $1.76 a week for for 6 months and then send me additional available magazines for my choosing.  I interrupted her and told her I'm not going to pay for that card with a magazine subscription.  I also told her not to send me anything and abruptly hung up the phone.  Your company is suckering people.  Yes, your company.

On Tuesday, 9/6/11, I started receiving calls from all over the US asking for Phil Robertson.  I guess I pissed off the little bi*** that try to scam me on Monday because I think she sent my number out to all telemarketers with a fictitious name.  I stopped that quickly by having my cell phone number changed with Verizon due to harrassment - HA!!!!!   Your company sucks.

Bonnie, BBB rates Edison Publishing as F the poorest possible rating. Their excuse; we are rated poorly because we do not subscribe to BBB services! Another typical lie since BBB can have their head handed to them if they rate companies poorly for not being a member.
