You do not have to deal with or settle with a collection agency. They do not have authority to file suit, only the original creditor can do that. Ergo when they call, request in writting the name, address, date of original service or debt, original account number of said creditor and the contact person of the Original creditor. You then call them to arrange payment IF it is actually a valid debt. The creditor can not refuse a payment arrangement or payment in full. To refuse payment ( in full or in arranged installments) the creditor risks nullifying the debt entirely. Inform the debt collection agency after obtaining verification of the debt that you will deal directly with the original creditor and send them a cease and desist letter or have an attorney, (legal aid will do it free (except postage) or just a few bucks) send it to them. Any calls or letters after that date constitute harassment and is actionable in court. Collection agents and politicians have two things in common,1) If their mouth is moving, they ARE lying to you. And 2) They both make their living off the misery and misfortune of others. Get the info on the creditor and deal with them, not collections drones.

I just received a message from the number (913) 948-6756 KS, USA on my cell phone. The message states that it is from RSH Debt Collection attempting to collect a debt owed to Target. This is the first I heard of it since I do not owe any debt to Target so I contacted Target instead. I was advised that this call is fraudulent. I went online and found this website and has been very helpful.

RH and Associates, 913-948-6767 do not know the nature of the call.

On 03/08/2013, I had lab work done through Olathe Medical Center's Internal Medicine; the doctor was Jessica Gillespie Gephards, and she and the office are approved through Humana's in network program--my insurance provider.

Since they are an in-network provider, the co-pay for this service is $10. They billed Humana Choice PPO for $249, they paid $156.01, and the total approved amount is $166.01; therefore, the difference is my co-pay for $10. According to Mary at Humana, a rep that I spoke with on 08/22/2013 at 2:00pm, they should not be billing me for any additional amounts.

I received a phone call from RSH (RFH?) and Associates on 08/22/2013; the person I spoke to was Bill Shears. They initially left a message on my call notes stating they were attempting to collect a debt in my name, which is not legal for a 3rd party collection agency to divulge on a machine--anyone could retrieve the message. I called Bill Shears back, and he states that I owe the remainder amount that Humana Choice PPO failed to pay--approximately $82.99 which is the difference between the original billed amount and Humana's approved pay outs for their in-network providers. I advised him that my insurance is responsible for the amount, and all I owe is the $10 co-pay; obviously they and Olathe Medical's billing office have made a billing error. I also explained the in-network agreement, and I stated it was atypical to place an account for collection within 5 months of the debt (I used to work as a Credit Manager in underwriting), but also for the original account holder not to notify me in writing stating that I owed an additional amount, and  that it was going to be placed for collection if not paid within x number of days. I told him not to call me again, since I do not owe the bill, and he began to argue with me advising me that I owed the amount; moreover, he stated "why would Olathe Medical send them this as a collection item if I really didn't owe it"?  I finally terminated the phone call. I didn't want to argue with him, and his question seemed highly redundant considering I already told him what Humana was worked out with their in-network providers. You would think that RSH and Associates would immediately place a call to Olathe Medical's billing department rather than to continue to argue with a person who obviously is not going to pay. What a collossal waste of time and resources.

In the meantime, I called Humana Choice PPO back, and they did a three-way call with Olathe Medical's billing department. We spoke to a person named Cassie--a supervisor--and she advised that she could not research the problem today, because their computer system was down. Mary at Humana advised me to Humana back on Monday if the problem still had not been resolved (I would imagine Human would consider this to be insurance fraud and would want to began an investigation if it was not cleared up promptly). In the meantime, I decided to file a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau complaint against RSH and Associates, and an Attorney General and BBB report against both Olathe Medical and RSH and Associates for erroneous billing and harrassment. Since I didn't RSH and Associates physical address, I had to call them back.

Once again, I spoke with Bill Shears. It took me almost five minutes to get their address from him, since he kept arguing with me and talking over me, and I finally had to request to speak to their on-site operations manager before he forked over the complete address. When he transferred me, I spoke to someone who claimed to be the director--Nick Carraway--and he was equally as rude and obnoxious. He kept talking over me, kept arguing with me, and even went as far to tell me that I wasn't even in their computer system. Why then was Bill Shears attempting to collect this debt from me, telling me I owed almost $90, if they did not even have me in the system? I'm guessing this wasn't even a director that I was speaking with. More likely, Bill probably transferred me to one of his collection cohorts to keep himself out of trouble. I can't imagine any director of a collection agency would handle a person like I was handled, speaking over me, not letting me talk, and yelling at me when apparently he couldn't even find me in their system.

If you have also had a problem with RSH and Associates, please file complaints with the Comsumer Financial Protection Bureau, your Attorney General, and the BBB. Refer to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act before filing a complaint, since not all collection calls apply. Makes me laugh that they advertise as "Christian-based collections". Total comedy.

This joker named BILL SHEAR called and was beating me up on the phone, telling me i owe 31.00 to a hospital and that he was going to take me to court. I told him that I have already been to court,and i did not see him there, bankruptcy court that is, and he said i must have forgotten this one, and started to cuss at me. I hung up on him, and he called me right back harrasing me to the point I need to go to overland park and beat his a** if i could find him..what a scam collection outfit, the wool that they pull over some people thinking they are nice collection people. screw them and the horse they ride to the office on...913-948-6764 give them a wakeup call, LOL LOL LOL....

Don't fall for the fake professionalism. He transferred your call to the guy in the cubicle next to him.  I've seen this happen. This Jason guy is extremely rude & over the top.  They've been trained to be that it's an effective tactic to get people to pay the debt just to stop the harrassment.

Yep, I called back and spoke with Cole Haynes.  It was clear they were collections when I got the message.  I was not attempting to hide from them.  He notified me of the debt.  I asked for the proof of debt notice and he told me I wouldn't get it before the end of the month. I said well go a head and send it.  He said Federal law required my cooperation. I advised that the law also required he send me the proof of the debt.  He said: No, he would mark it as an official refusal to pay and forward it on. I thanked him for his time and he disconnected.

this rsh has been sued and has called me repeatedly and has also filed judgments that was never filed but the hospital has fired them so they got pissed so they have put false info on my credit what they dont know is i have talked to the hospital and they are going to sue them for me as well as take any cases that they had before they were fired away from then i have also recorded all my calls with them and am sending them to every hospital in the four state area that way everyone knows what they are dealing with, these people have no clue what they are in for i have also sent the letters from the hospital that stated that everything has been dropped along with the phone recordings to the bbb this co will wish they never called me i hope everyone can do the same , this co lies and i have also called the courts and lat them know what has happened so they are aware that anytime they have a case in front of them that these people are a part of to make sure that no one else is getting rail roaded. there own lawyers said that they are in the wrong and dont want to deal with them anymore they dont want the bad rep from such a scam co

Donny Larson called from this company.  He tried to get my credit card number to pay off a debt owed to a medical center.  The bill from the medical center is legitimate, but I'm not sure that this company is.  I called the medical center, and the lady from billing told me that my account is not yet in collections, and that is not the collection agency they use.  I then told this to Donny Larson (RSH), who told me, "obviously..believe this is not legitimate"... So he will speak with the "Director", and will give me a call back after he figures out where the problem is.  Also, he said they sent out a letter on letterhead yesterday.  So, I'm wondering, do they think I've already received the letter the next day???  Why start phone calls already??  It's possible the company is legitimate, but I don't believe them to be honest.  I will post later if anything proves to be true.

Guy named Jason from RSH.  Calling about a past due medical bill that I already paid.  Demanded my checking account information so he could call my bank to verify that the bill had been paid.  Told him to call the medical center that had sent them the bill to confirm payment, but insisted that I give him my bank account information instead because "people lie about this stuff all the time".  I hung up on him.  He called again several days later to tell me that he had confirmed with the medical center that payment had been made, but was just calling to inform me as a courtesy that I now had an additional $26 due.  I questioned this and he said that the medical center was now sending all billings on my account directly to them to collect, even though payments were not technically due.  He "as a courtesy" was just wanting me to know that they would be attempting collection on that new billing soon.  I told him I would be submitting payment to the medical center after the medical center submitted a bill to me, which they had not yet done.  Jason informed me that I probably would not be getting future bills for services from the medical center and that the medical center was not legally obligated to provide me with a bill for services and could at their will just submit all bills to RSH for immediate collection action.  Two days later was called again by Jason to attempt to collect on this new bill.  Told him I had left a message with the medical center about the billing and he told me I had better call them again because he needed to collect payment immediately on this bill.  Turns out the bills are for services provided last month, which were just submitted to insurance and have not officially been billed to my account yet.  Because this a--hole has access to my account information, he thinks he can jump the gun and try to collect on fees I have not even officially been billed for by my doctors office.

I got a voicemail from them so I googled the number.  Comes back to a Dr Jack Schofield and an apartment address in Overland Park KS.  BTW no one answers or calls you back.

I've started getting calls from this number this week. I immediately looked it up, read your posts, and know not to return their calls. I never answer numbers I don't know for this very reason.
I am registering on the No Call list and reporting this company to the Attorney General's office; and the FBI if need be.

This company is nothing more than a bunch of people that can't find something else to do but try to push you into something and threaten sueing you. They do not disclose their company name and actually a FACT!!!! They do not even use their REAL NAME!!!! they use fake names when they are calling. The law says that they HAVE to disclose their company name, and who they are and WHY they are calling. They will when asked, just talk over you, and deny information. They know how to get around the loops of the law and one day they will get busted if they pursue the wrong person that wont let them get away with their nonsense.

Someone named James Johnson keeps calling me and leaving messages that he NEEDS a call back from me

I have been getting calls from this number for the past week.  I'm glad to have found this post.  I have gotten numerous calls at work and on my cell phone within minutes of eachother.  I cannot take calls on either during the day.  I called after the companies hours (the only time I can use a phone).  I've asked that he leave more than his name and number and tell me what this is about either in a voice message or through mail.  I got 2 more calls today with no elaboration, but as far as I know there were no calls at work.

This may be a "real" collection agency but they certainly don't know how to collect. I also spoke with wunderkind Cole. The sad part is this company relies on scare tactics to get you to to pay off the debt in full. More commission for the collector.  I would imagine most of us have been diligently trying to pay off said debt but that the company we owe can no longer keep it on their books so it was turned over. There is nothing shameful about having an account in collections. What is shameful is the way some debt collection agencies decide to handle the debt.

Man called company asking to speak to someone.  I let him know we do not take personal calls at a business and i would never take a personal message.  He was rude and wanted the said persons ext number i couldnt give that to him cause there was no ext number for that person.  He was rude and i knew straight from the start what he was about.  Just a warning you call a company with a hidden phone number you wont get connected no matter what bs you try to spit.  He even tried to say he was returning said persons call.  Well you still can be connected dork

I've been receiving calls from this # and finally decided to call back.  I spoke to Cole and it was regarding a Dr's bill that needed to be settled.  I called the Dr's office and verified the company with the accounting dept.  I was a little sketchy about it but once the company was verified I worked out an arrangement with Cole to pay and settle this debt.

Legally the company is required to send you proof of the debt.  Request it in writing!  Tell them you want the original contract, receipts of purchase etc.
Legally a collections company cannot threaten legal action against you!  He does not have the authority to do so!  The collection company he works for has to recommend to their client (the company that is claiming holds the debt) to sue.
He is breaking several collections laws - I know this because I used to work as a collector!  File complaints/law suits through the federal trade commission and your state attorney general - you could get out of the debt entirely!!!!!!
