I received a call from 913-951-0808 a man (with a heavy accent) told me he was windows support. He had me hit windows logo and R. The RUN dialog box came up. he then had me enter eventvwr. A variety of warnings and error messages came up. he then had me clear the RUN dialog box and enter www.support.me. This took me to logMein123.com. he then told me to enter in the code 812123. I said how do I know he is legitimate. He said to call 631-621-0001. I called that number and asked how much for the service. The person who answered said the person on my other line would advise me. I hung up and did a search on 631-621-0001. It is a scam.

This caller said he was from a paralegal department and that I had been identified as a suspect in a criminal matter.  NO such matter exists.  He tried to get me to confirm  personal information and I would not.  He called at least 5 times in 2 minutes.

Just received a call from 913-951-0808...didn't recognize the number when it came up on my caller ID, so I didn't answer.  Of course, they did not leave a message...idiots, trying to scam a senior citizen who is trying to stay afloat with all my bills!  Just leave me alone, and go play at the rr tracks when the train's coming!!!!!

It is a scam. Several months ago they called every day for a week (from another phone number). Finally I answered to ask what this was about, and even though I know better, they caught me off guard. I fell for the scam. Yes, I stupidly let them remotely access my computer (still embarrassed about that). Some people get scammed into giving them credit card numbers, but when they asked for mine I disconnected and hung up. I had to reinstall the factory settings, which means I lost all my files and apps since the last backup and that was not recent enough (learned my lesson there too). The good thing about the call just now is that I recognized the scam right away and was able to tell the guy he should be ashamed of himself and asked him how can he do this to people. Of course he hung up, but it sure made me feel better.

In "Call Type" 800notes should include the category "scammer".

So sorry your aunt fell for this scam!  Microsoft and its partners do NOT cold call people.  They have more on this scam on their website at http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

Edit:  You will probably have to take your aunt's computer to a bricks and mortar store.  Worst comes to the worst, they'll have to reformat the hard drive, which means all documents, photos, etc will be lost.  However, at least she'll have a working computer.

My aunt got a call from this number, claimed to be Microsoft Tech support.  As instructed, she turned on her laptop and then restarted.  Or tried to, as a pretty bad virus had been installed on the computer and it would not restart.  I do not have the computer yet to find out how bad it is, but as of now, the computer is a $700 paperweight.

When I promptly told caller with Indian accent I was on the do not call list she asked me why? "None of your f;&$@ing business" is why...click. I wish telemarketers could all be rounded up and left on the same uninhabited  island!
