Associated with scam/fraudulent calls also originating from 474-475-1328. Upon answering phone call originating from 474 area code number, a man identifying himself as Jerry from Microsoft Windows told me my computer was terribly infected by a virus that was causing problems with other computers. He instructed me that I should immediately continue the conversation at my computer and allow him remote access to fix the problem. I pretended being aware of a serious problem with my computer but told him I wasn't home and insisted and pleaded that he give me a number to call where I can have it serviced remotely once I was seated back at my computer. He gave me the number 914 290-4992 and told me to ask for Tom or Roger.
I then called that number anonymously pretending to be the gullible fool they wished for. I was told the same story EVEN THOUGH they didn't know who I was nor anything else other than that I said Jerry said my computer needs to be fixed. I spoke long enough with a woman with an accent sounding Middle Eastern or Indian and was able to learn that although the area code is a White Plains, NY number, she is in London. At both numbers I could hear dozens of similar phone calls going on in the background. A reverse lookup of the number associates with a company called Level 3 Communications headquartered in Buffalo, NY with 2 contact phone numbers: 877 868-0682 and 716 846-1903. I have reported the suspicious fraudulent incident to the FBI cyber crimes division since it would involve internet fraud. The FBI's Cyber Crimes Division works with international police agencies to thwart global internet crimes and fraud.
Do NOT allow remote access to your computer nor share sensitive information or credit card info with unauthenticated callers nor via email.

My mom called me and said that this guy called from that same # but she was also curious and asked for his info. He said he was from Microsoft and needed to access her computer to clean up spyware on her computer, and she did the right thing and asked for his # and said she would call him back, and she didn't knowing that was a scam, so I looked it up for her today, and verified to her that she did the right thing.

I just received a call from 425-668-9625 (listed as a Washigton Call) telling me that he was from windows and my computer was downloading malicious software at this very moment. I asked for his number and he gave me the 800-290-4992 number. He had a very thick accent making it hard to understand him. He said he could fix my problem, but I told him I would have my son call him back. Click!! I wish we could stop people like this.

Caller kept telling us he was from Windows and our computer was experiencing some errors. He said to press the crt key and windows button. Then he wanted me to go the a web site and type in eventrv. I asked for his number and he gave the 914 number. I kept asking how did I know it wasn't a scam, and he wanted to let me talk with his supervisor. We had him on the speaker phone, and when I asked questions, he kept talking and not answering questions. My husband finally took the phone from me, and yelled at him for being rude, and we hung up.

I have received 3 calls from 253-802-0308 and 914-290-4992. I usually don't answer but was busy and didn't check caller id. It was Terry Tyson saying he worked for windows and my computer was generating problems. I promptly told him he was not getting access to my computer and that I was calling the police to report his scam. Needless to say, he hung up.

This is definitely as SCAM as you thought. Microsoft has information on their website about scams like this.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx
Never allow anyone that you do not know remote access to your computer. At best they will charge you a lot of money for worthless "protection" and at worst they will install malware on your computer to steal your logins, passwords, credit card numbers and any other personal information that may be there.

I received a call from the phone number I.D. 253-802-0308 from a Matt Williams. He said he was calling from Windows. I asked if he was from Microsoft, he said no one was calling mr from Microsoft, he was calling from Windows. He stated there was problem with my computer, that information and signals from my IP address were sending information to them. He stated that my computer was in very serious danger. He also offered to help me with the issue and kept expressing the seriousness of the issue. When I asked what type of signals/information he would not say. I told him I needed to call him back and he then gave the 914-290-4992 number asking me if I was sure I would be calling him back. I said Yes, however knew this wasn't right and looked up the number. I had trouble understanding him as his accent was heavy and sounded from the middle East. After putting his number in Google I found this site to report the Scam. I am so glad I didn't call him back. He did however call me again later and I didn't answer the phone and he didn't leave a message. Have not heard from him again.

Please don't give anyone access to your PC, unless you are 100% sure of who they are. You just gave that person Total access to any and all information on your computer. If you have ever bought anything with a credit or paypal they can now get all personal info. about you. They now have the ability to use your computer as If they were you.... I am not sure what you can do to block them but please look on windows official site and see how to shut them down. God Bless and Good luck. I pray they do not get any info. that can harm you.
