Yes, this is a predatory business culture. You're either a friend or family member receiving calls about some one's debt. Call them once find out their excuse for calling then write their BBB and your attorney general about harassing you and family members and help protect elderly, vulnerable family members from them. You are also receiving all sorts of unknown calls that if you ask what business they're with they just hang up. They have a huge network many alliances and they will not admit to their predatory cowardly acts. They don't have a A+ BBB rating on any business practices don't be confused. http://www.bbb.org/norfolk/business-reviews/d ... olk-va-51000164 they also have PRA Location Services Las Vegas Nevada, and 800 service that they forget to notify to stop calling among others. Rules, there are no rules.

P.S. I don't owe a penny. My ex likely does...and some cards were shared.

Portfolio Recovery called me tonight. The hilarious thing is that my phone# in the U.S. forwards to me here in Ireland (via VOIP). So although I didn't this time, I've often amused myself by engaging with them, and ask them if they'll send in a few Blackhawks and do a raid á la Bin Laden. They've asked me for an address and they accepted 1600 Pensylvaina Ave, Washinton, DC as a valid address. I haven't lived in the U.S. since 2005, consequently could not owe anything since at least then. What a bunch of bandits. I'm really surprised they haven't been shut down.

This number is from Portfolio Recovery, a Debt Recovery Collector. They have multiple numbers and apparently have nothing else to do but call numbers and don't say anything when you answer. Do Not Give out any identifying personal and confidential information... These are dumb idiots in a nutshell!

As promised above, the October figures are in, and I shall share them with the world: Portfoolio rang our phones 9 (nine) times in 2012. In 2013, Portfoolio caused our phone to ring 22 times. Is there a hidden message here? (They have been calling for more than 4 1/2 years, thousands of calls, not a single one ever has been answered, and their lawyer wrote us a letter more than 3 years ago stating they had "decided" to "cease collection efforts.", while admitting, in writing that the so-called debt could not be verified.)
Folks, the Best Congress Money Can Buy specifically enabled these vermin and others of the same ilk to harass us. They are the ones who can put a stop to it.

I received a call from this number on October 30 and there was silence and then the sound of a woman laughing. Then the disconnect comes. I am calling Verizon to have my number unpublished ~ I am SICK to DEATH of these crazies calling me. These people really need to get a life.

Do NOT talk with these bottom-feeding extortionists. Every word you use may be used against you.
Where bullies, thieves and thugs hold sway,
do not expect that they will play,
by the same rules that you,
and other decent people do.

They called and used my maiden name so I told her no one here by that name. Not used that name for 4 years now. Get it right and maybe we can talk.

Portfoolio Recovery keeps calling me for a fingerhut bill that was awarded to my exwife in 1997 divorce, yet they still call me.
but have slowed down since i asked them a question and here is what i do to get them to stop
Caller: Hello, is XXX XXXXX there?
Me: Yes, speaking
Caller: This is XXX XXXXX (woman voice, mostly women call) with Portfoolia recovery we are here to collect a debt and any information blah blah blah
Me: Can I ask you a question?
Caller: Yes
Me: What color are your panties....?
___EITHER YOU GET ONE OF THE TWO RESPONSES____
1. Click, the sound of them hanging up
or
Caller: What??? Excuse me? what did you say?
Me: I said, What color are your panties? (Because they didnt hang up i then include another question)
are you wearing panties???
Caller: click..................
Only once did I get an answer and she said this " Light blue and I'm wet....." then the phone clicked off.
This is how i deal with collectors and they stop calling, now if you get a man that calls just start talking sports or have a conversation and dont let him but in, just keep talking stuff totally unrelated to his reason for calling , he will hang up

Hoooeeee!! We are up to call #412 since the barrister Pearson stated in writing their decision to "cease collection efforts" more than four years ago. Here's some Portfoolio Recovery experts' trivia: during the month of September 2012, they rang our phone 8 times. During the month of September 2013 they rang our phone 15 times. August 2012 it was 10 times, and August of this year it was 17 times. Does this mean they are desperate, to be escalating this way? Stay tuned for October figures.

If you have an iPhone and did the update to ios 7, you can block all of the numbers these scum bags will use to get you to answer the phone. If you do have old debt that they are coming after, check what your state's statute of limitations is on old debt. Most average around 7 years. If there has been no activity on the account in that amount of time, you are not required to pay the debt. Most importantly, if they succeed in getting you to answer, do not give them any information - EVER.

Warning! Warning! Warning!
Portfolio Recovery Associates are Criminal Scammers
trying 2 collect on False Debts ( debts that have already
been paid ) .....
They will get your info thru the Credit Report Agencies, when
you open a New Bank Account, get a New Credit Card, get
a Loan ( of any kind ), etc. etc. etc.
Then PRA will Manufacture FALSE DEBTS from Loans that
was PAID IN FULL years ago .....PRA & their Employees
are CRIMINALS! .....They are in the EXTORTION Business .....
Do NOT .....REPEAT! .....Do NOT Answer their Calls!!!
| FuryOfFirestorm 2013-09-20 19:21:59 Unknown |
Exactly. Why it is that they think that after thousands of calls over several years, that you'll suddenly up and pay their fake/zombie debt?
"I've called this number 9,999 times, so on this next call, they're definitely going to write me a check!"

These bottom-feeding pond scum are so pathetic that they have made themselves irrelevant. Nobody bothers to even pick up the phone. We never have done...they've been calling here since early 2009. In September of 2010, the attorney general made them reply to my request for verification of the so-called debt. Their lawyer admitted it could not be verified. He also stated they had "decided to cease collection efforts" since I was objecting. I had not asked them to stop calling, the lawyer Pearson simply stated they had decided to stop. Here it is, three years later, and the call last Wednesday from this number was #390 since these idiots "decided to cease collection efforts." I guess they are simply lonely little vermin, and are calling nowadays just to say "Hi".
