Don't call numbers back. I recently saw on the news that some calls are scans and when you call back, they will charge your phone each minute. Be careful! I never answer or call back - I look up the number online and use sites like this one to tell me if they are bad or not.  A lot of the time when I look it up and it is legit, like a doctor's office or something it will take me to the website.

Be Careful out there!

It's not March of Dimes people! It's a travel agency wanting to send you on some stupid free trip. I got a text message from them also. I called the number back and it was a recording. It said press one if you wished not to be called any more or two for a representative to contact you.

Had a missed call from this number on my phone while I was at work so I called back and got a recording that says they are vacation tour and travel a marketing company for blue green resorts.  They give you 2 options one you can leave your name and # to be added to the dnc list or leave your name and # for a rep to call you back.

I got a call from this number the other day and they hung up on me. I got another call from them today and they said it was Bass Pro Shop and that I had won a trip to several different locations of my choice. The lady told me that this was a one time phone call to register for one of the trips. I asked why then did they hang up on me on the previous phone call and she said that it must have been another number.

It is a time-share thing from Blue-Green travel, i.e. Bass Pro Shops (Bass Pro owns Blue-Green and Big Cedar Lodge). I went ahead and pressed 1 and left my name and number for  their "do not call list. We'll see if it works; it should, Bass Pro is a good outfit, Blue-Green appears sleazy.

This tn 914-740-1895 appears on my CID as Vacationtourtrav. They say that they are calling about a card being filled out at
Bass Pro Shop. I did fill out the card. They are offering vacations at the cost of $249.00. I haven't got all of the details yet as they are supposed to call back.

My husband recently signed up for this marvelous 2 night 3 day vaca with Bass Pro. Needless to say after he paid the 149.00 for the vacation, I read lovely reviews about the timeshare bologna that's involved and now we are getting calls. Nothing is free folks. You always pay in the end...one way or another

This is a timeshare outfit.  Evidently my wife filled out a form at Bass Pro shop for a free vacation.  I fell for one of those before where you got 2 nights and a day or so and had to sit though hours of bull hockey.  I don't do time shares never will they are a rip off.  So the lady said you filled out this form at bass pro shop. I stopped her dead in her tracks and asked her if it was time share related, she said yes. I asked these jerks to remove my number as I am not interested.  I think they call me just to piss me off.

All this "March of Dimes"  reference is a surprise to me... my phone said VACATIONTOURTRV...  vacation tour trv? Maybe next time it'll be to save the abused pets or feed the starving. Sounds like a light-footed Scam group.  The old quote, "sucker born every minute", comes to mind. They wouldn't do this if it didn't pay... kind-a sad.

Got a call from this number, I didn't answer it and they didn't leave a voice mail *67 the and called it back. An automated recording came on and said it was "Vacation Tour and Travel the leading marketing group for Blue Green Resorts" and to press 1 and enter your number to be added to their Do Not call list, and to press 2 and enter your number to have a sales rep call you back. I just hung up.

I get calls every day from this number. The caller ID says MOD. I took the call , listened to the recording, then it gives you the option to opt out of getting the calls by pressing #3. BUT WAIT>>>>>>
It won't recognize the number you have to put in to have removed. I tried calling from the home and cell number and each time I put in the 10 digit phone number, it repeats what I put in, incorrectly, adding numbers I did not push.

Would love to know who this is and stop these calls. They call on weekends and evening hours too. So annoying, What benefit is someone getting from this?

The March of Dimes charity, which frequently describes its name on your caller ID as ?MOD,? has been phoning frantically leading up to the Christmas holiday. The ten phone numbers I have seen from them, and blocked since 10/18/11, include 240-210-7121, 410-202-0116, 571-261-0034, 804-234-9034, 914-368-2551, 914-368-2553, 914-740-1892, 914-740-1895, 914-740-1896 and 914-740-1897.

I?d recommend that everyone who receives one of these calls block these numbers or, if you have no call blocking telephone equipment, that you simply not answer the phone.

How good a charity is the March of Dimes? The following description of ?MOD? is from the current Wikipedia article:

The March of Dimes has been described as a bureaucracy that has taken on a life of its own through a classic example of a process called goal displacement. Faced with redundancy after Jonas Salk discovered the polio vaccine, it adopted a new mission, "fighting birth defects", which was recently changed to a vaguer goal of "breakthrough for babies", rather than disbanding.

Charity Navigator has given the organization a rating of one out of four stars based on its financial filings, meaning "Fails to meet industry standards and performs well below most charities in its Cause." It also notes that the president Jennifer Howse was paid $633,132 in 2010.

--- End of excerpt from current Wikipedia article ---

How much money could be left for those who really need some help after paying the March of Dimes president over $600,000 per year and absorbing the expense of the vicious phone call campaign they are putting on just now? Please make your donations locally to a legitimate charity that will spend most of it on those who are in dire need rather than on lining the pockets of the charity officers and other ?administrative expenses.?

The ACTUAL Numbers:

The ONLY 914 zip code March of Dimes number -
General inquiries
March of Dimes National Office
1275 Mamaroneck Avenue
White Plains, NY 10605
(914) 997-4488

The New York Chapter's number:
New York
(212) 353-8353

there is no MOD 740-,368 prefixes! No last 4 digits of 1895! And 2551, and 2553   as the last 4 of any of their phone numbers either! The numbers on caller ID do NOT belong to March of Dimes! (And no I'm not 'apologizing' on their behalf ... sick of getting these calls too!)

The link where this is found:

See for yourselves!

The numbers that show up on Caller ID (claiming to be March of Dimes):
914-740-1895, 914-368-2551 and 914-368-2553 as either March of Dimes or MOD! Must be Caller ID spoofed!!!

914-740-1895, 914-368-2551 both call bolcked (on phones call block and using call screen); have requested these scum stop calling twice (first two times using March of Dimes contact page form then this last time calling the MOD chapter in my State).  Has that stopped these calls at all? Are they still annoying the hell and harassing the hell out of me by making calls on my BUSINESS line? Hell, yea!!!!

Think about it a bit ... if these were actually MOD's phone numbers ad they had been blocked, would the calls still get through? No! Yet they are... my guess is these numbers must be spoofed! As they are still getting through, not to forget informing March of Dimes themselves to stop calling.  None of that works and the same tactic happens to be used by so many scammers out there these days (Caller ID spoofed numbers, refuse to stop 'calling' when you tell them too.  OH and one other thing, you won't get through dailing back the 914-740-1895 number (and probably the other these pigs use either). Tried... got a "This number is no longer in service ..." message when I tried! It's not a real MOD number, how could it be!!!

Charities are exempt for the do not call list.  If it is March of Dimes, why would they not allow that to be seen on your caller ID?

Something to keep in mind about all these bothersome calls for surveys, so called charities and even with charity pickups:

Call centers have sprung up in my town that make use of the survey and the charity loophole around the do not call list; they have been a headache for law enforcement, emergency services, neighboring businesses and residential areas.  When I ask any patrolling officer in town about these call centers, they are quick to state their frustrations about the criminal activity that some of these call centers have brought into the area. Several law enforcement agencies regularly visit some of these call centers looking for warrant arrests etc.  I have heard stories from other sources including from frustrated employees that work for these call centers complaining about the drug activity, vandalism of cars and neighboring businesses, break-ins and theft, drinking while on the job, smoke breaks are actually marijuana breaks, drunk driving, very dangerous driving, tons of tossed out litter of empty liquor containers, trash, food etc .  I have heard of stories where the mangers are also involved in criminal activities and have even preyed on their legitimate employees who are simply trying to eek out a living on horrible wages.  Also the operators are untrained in a very high turn around, poorly managed and dysfunctional work environment.

Also realize this when you call a companies? customer service line and get horrible service from the call center that?s been hired by the company.  One time while on a call with our bank?s customer service, the operator was so loopy that it required ending the call and calling again to try and get someone else to help, think about that when you call a companies customer service and the conversation gets odd, off the wall and obtuse ? you may be talking to an operator that?s drunk or on something.  After 6 months of getting a different and wrong answer to our ongoing problem each time we called our bank, we gave up and closed the account.

With so little police left in our town due to cutbacks, they can?t always respond to vandalism and break-ins when it?s witnessed as they have their plate full responding to the major emergencies, this allows the criminal activity free reign, the neighborhood becomes the hood.  Some insurance companies require proof of private security patrols before they will honor a claim due to vandalism or theft leaving the neighboring businesses off guard and uncovered.  These businesses also have the added cost to hire private security or install security systems and monitoring.  Then there are the dangers and headaches to the nearby businesses employees such as their cars being vandalized or broken into.  Some businesses simply give in, pickup and move out of town.

One of my neighbors owns a call center and he requires that his operators are bonded, but I guess there?s no laws requiring this ? there should be.  Right now in my town it seems like anybody can start up a call center and hire questionable labor for cheap without much regulation.

Constantly calls... twice a day... morning and night. Quite the nuisance. I put my number on the Do Not Call List twice a year and yet these calls still come through. March Of Dimes is in the caller ID. Another call coming through lists MOD and that number is 914-368-2551 and 2553.
