Put the blame where it really lay's, with the criminals and illegal telemarketers.
The DNC works just fine. It is for telemarketers only and honest business does indeed abide by it. It is the criminals (which includes illegal telemarketers), frauds and scammers that do not. However, the Fed. DNC does not cover some survey's, Political or Charities.  You would need to check your states DNC laws to see if these are under your states DNC laws.  The fact remains that they are not automatic call blockers though and can not protect you from the calls that are criminal, illegal or fraudulent.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device - they hold up to 1500 and can do whole area codes..  You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

You can report these spammers all you like (do not call.gov, fcc etc) BUT nothing is ever done.  The more numbers I report, the more they seem to call.   I have the option of blocking numbers (but only 30) so as I add numbers to the bottom of the list, I need to remove others from the top.  It helps but new numbers are always calling!!!

Called our DNC registered landline on 06/26/2014 @ 04:12 PM from Peekskill, NY. Caller ID shows shows scammer hiding behind the ?V? number. No message was left.
We don't answer callers we don't recognize.

The ?V? number doesn't identify the scammer. It shows the date, time and some other info based on the location and time zone the call was made.
The first 3 numbers when you have a 1 digit month are the month and day
Your V number would have stated with 616.
That would be followed by the HH:MM:SS in military time (24 hr) time from the location the call was placed.
Then there are some additional numbers.
So you may have had V616104534......
There's no mystery behind the ?V? number. The telemarketer just hides behind it so people who can block ?Unknown, Out of State, etc? can't stop these calls.
If you see. Caller ID with the ?V? don't bother picking up, it's SPAM.

Just got the same number left on my caller id. Called it back and some guy answered "hello" and I hung up. Let them see how it feels to be bothered.

Thank you for that website. I keep filing complaints to the donotcall site (six in three days on six different numbers) and even cut and paste what other people have posted and still the spoofed numbers keep calling.

I am glad I decided to look up the #. I am twice as glad that I didn't answer the call. I never answer a call that is not on my directory list. Thanks to all of you who reported that this # is a scam.

Scam caller. Beware. Don't give out information!

Submitted the FCC complaint after the second call. We'll see what they do.

This board is simply a sounding board for people to vent and inform others of scam telemarketing calls they receive.  There is no authority associated with the 800notes site to stop these callers.  In order for people to collectively stop these type calls they must act together - and TAKE ACTION!  It doesn?t do any good to complain about a caller on this board unless you then take the next step and do something about it!  The caller ID number is usually a ?Spoof Number? ? A Fake!  Never, never, ever engage the caller or call back the number.  The false robocallers will then capture your number as a ?live one? and use it over and over and sell it to other scammers.  The same goes if it prompts you to ?press a key? to ?opt out?  of their calling lists, or be transferred to someone, as this will only ?log? your number as a working one and make it ripe for future calls and to be sold to other scam companies as well.
The best option is simply to hang up, keep your own list of calling numbers with dates and times and report them to the FCC below.  There is space on their complaint form to list several calling dates and times of a repeat caller.
The DO NOT CALL list is worthless, they do not act on anything, just build a database of numbers.
In order to do something to help stop these type calls, everyone - EVERYONE needs to file an online complaint directly with the FCC.  If they receive enough complaints about a particular number - they will act on it.  Do it today and pass along the info:

Received a call from them at 8:30pm, June 17th.  We answered, no response on other end.  Thanks for the information - we'll block it and report it to the Do Not Call Registry.

I don't answer unknown numbers. If they are ligit, they will leave a message. This one did not.

this number called as the Police Conference of New York State.  Didn't stay on the line to hear more.  Robo call switches to real person when they hear your voice.

Just got a call from this number stating they were a group supporting NY Police department training. No Go from me Blocked now

I refuse to answer calls I don't recognize. What I would like to do is take the time to thank people who report what this is. The scams out there are getting old. Everyone knows you are crooks trying to steal instead of working for an honest living. Give it up already.

I only give my number out to things I deal with and would love to know who the hell is passing my number around.

Same spammers, new number. These are telemarketers trying to give you a better deal on energy. What they really want is your credit card number. Block and report. The caller id is unique, begins with the V followed by 15 digits. Looks like it identifies who they called.
