The Texas Highway Patrol Association is a scam. They claim to be a (501) C3 non profit charitable organization raising money for their death benifit fund of the surving family members of killed State Troopers, or as they say our fellow highway patrol men. Come to find out their part time employees make minimum wage, and their full time commimision callers take 33% of their collected sales. I am glad to say several of their five offices based in Texas have been shut down due to an investigation by the Attorney Generals Office which discovered miss use of funds.

Called about 6:15 pm Wednsday December 14, 2011
Lot of noise, a land line in El Paso , Texas
Wanted contribution fro Highway Patrol officers killed on the job...
Told them I was calling the local police.....
Called local police and reported call.

Told by police they are legit telemarketers and there are 3 different companies doing the calls... for the Texas Highway Patrol Association.....
So, look to keep getting calls until you run down each of the telescammers and have your number removed from their call lists ......
Whut?
Yeap!
Business must REALLY be booming if they can afford to pay out 3X over,  WITH each telemarketer taking the major cut of the take......

The DNC registry is a federal program. You want a list of phone numbers to contact a given caller? Anyway, a charity call is exempt as are all non-sales calls.

The dirty secret is that many charity calls are placed by a commercial fundraiser, such as Associated Community Services, Dial America, Harris, InfoCision, MDS, and TeleFund. Such call centers are very much for-profit and pocket most of what their clients' periodic campaigns collect. At times the ''charity'' client is itself a closet profit enterprise, (as is often suspected with these alleged police and fire charities) compounding the deception.

As commercial entities, these hired call centers are expected to honor an internal no-call list and add any number upon request. Break that order, the FTC declares, and ''the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.'' They are also covered to a point by other regulations for telepests, so you can kvetch about abandoned calls, bot calls to mobile phones, and so on.

I have been getting these calls at all hours of t he day and night.  The man who calls is very threatening, and trys to play poor pitiful me that an officer died and I shouldn't have a problem giving money to help the family.  I asked to have my number removed from the list and he proceeded to ask me if I lived at, and then listed off my address.  I gave him no info and asked nicely 3 times to remove my number from the list.  Then he started to repeat my name and number.  That is when I hung up.  When I search on the number, it shows:  M CLAYTON  915-595-3421 2150 Trawood Dr # A, El Paso, TX.  THis person is pathetic.  This should be illegal.  If they need money, they should raise it locally, not calling people at all hours of the night.

I received a call today from this number, the caller ID read "TX HWY PATROL".  The guy asked for me by name when I said I couldn't talk due to laringitis he said he'd call back another day.  Apparently it wasn't too important.  When I did a reverse phone number lookup it came up with the names Irma Macias, Susana Macias, Victor Macias.  Sounds suspious to me.
