I got a call from 916/426-6177  no message

I recieved a call this morning from a lawyer according to a man which he did know American law stating I owed someone which was completely false.  The callerphone numbercame up 916-287-3815.  When I calledthem back he wouldsay his spill and then hang up.  This is a scam trying to get money.  I told him my Uncle was an FBI agent he disconnected the call. I called back and Ronnie statedhe was with Cash America.  After I gave him my spill again, he disconnected the phone. On my phone it shows Scrm Main Ca

They keep calling our business and asking for a "William English". They have arabic accents. When I tell them that no one here works by that name they act pissed off.  One time the guy said, "What's your name?" Me - "I'm not going to give you my name, you don't even know what company this is.  Why would I give out my name to a stranger when you don't even know who you called?" Guy - "You're not even responsible enough to tell me your own name?  I want to speak with your manager, now!"  Me - "I am the office manager sir."  Guy - "I'm going to report you and it'll cost you your job!! Have a terrible day!"

Fast forward 1 week.....
Guy - "I'm looking for William English" Me - "I'm sorry, no one here works here by that name."
Guy - "Oh my gosh.  I guess I'm wasting your time then (very sarcastic).  I hate liars!  Have a terrible day!"

I'm looking at all the past comments and this caller has been at it since 2007!! How have these jerks not been caught?!!?!

These people are still at it...but have changed their number.

Just got a call on my home phone from SCRM MAIN CA with the caller ID of 191659.

What's that? Not even a number. These people should be severely punished.

I answered a call from this number on 1/17/08. The caller didn't respond to me, left the line open.

I answered a call from this number on 12/06/07.  The caller didn't respond to me; just left the line open.

I received another call from this number on 1/18/08 with no response from the caller.

If you get a call from this number, just press 1 and it will take you to a live person.  You can try to talk to that person and ask to be on "do not call list" or if they are rude, they will hang up on you.  Happened to me today.

This number has called me 5 times today with an automated message and I hang up.  Finally I pushed 1 to so I could talk to the people calling and tell them to leave me alone, and the lady got mad and quoted my phone number and told me she would be calling me 80 more times!

When I try to call the number back it says the number is no longer in service.

What can I do to get these people off my back?!

they call us often.  we asked to be put on their do not call list and they told me "you and people like you that want even listen are the reason they cannot feed their kids at night".  well i have listened to their stupid phone calls everyday for 4 years about 5 times a day.  if they really want to feed their kids they should get a real job and leave the working people alone!

I have had this number call me too and another one similar and I called verizon wireless and they said the numbers have been "cloned" and she said she would take care of it and took the number to her superviser.  They haven't called me since.

I thought this might be helpful, since I don't see anyone else mentioning this. It's not the same phone number, either, but one never knows. My husband has a cell phone account with Verizon. Until recently, when he called the house from his cell the caller ID simply read, "Unknown Name" and then listed the number, which is how I knew it was from him. A week ago or so, his tire went flat on the freeway and he called home to tell me what happened and that he would be a while because AAA was on the way to replace the tire then he'd be on the road again. He called back while on the road again and both times the caller ID read "SCRM MAIN   CA" and those two were the first time we had ever seen that. I figured it had something to do with the highway cell towers rerouting the calls through a different, state-run tower because of his location at the time, but now it happens every time we use the cell. Because we have caller ID block on the cell it never said a name, just the number until that day. Now, the number it reads is the same, correct cell number, but "unknown name" has permanently changed to SCRM MAIN CA. We are completely confused. Nothing is wrong with our money or our bank accounts and we still get the same weird and annoying wrong numbers, political nonesense and collectors as usual. It's confusing as hell and now I am getting concerened that we have been tapped illegally. The highway patrol helped my husband out that day, kept him safe and helped him get out of the center of the road until AAA arrived, so he did have contact with law enforcement that day, but in a good way. I only worry because this would not be the first time the law broke it's self listening in. A little over a year ago detectives came to our house looking for previous tenants that had moved years earlier and they acted like we were hiding something, which we were not, but it was weird, especially since they were plain clothes and ragedy at that. However, the badges were very real. I thought, undercover? Also, during the Bush Administration my name was bogusly added to a temporary watch list after the Patriot Act was passed because I once donated 10$ to Greenpeace when I was much younger. It's off now, without me having to do anything, comittee oversight caught numerous errors of that type during that time. Never broke a law in my life and my husband is about as boring as it gets, save for the ocassional movie download. I just do not get it, and Verizon says they don't either. The reason I worry? I'm a journalist. Out of a job for several years due to a severe illness, but still, it gives me the willies and it's the principle, this is America, damn it.

P.S. 212 is a Verizon billing department prefix, it's what we see on the cell ID every time the bill is a little late

just called and i asked to be added to the do not call list and he told me to take my number out of the yellow pages and white pages and he would stop calling.  WHAT AN A**!

These guys are of the worse kind. They use VOIP technology to change the phone number on the caller ID. This is a dead cell number. I asked for their company name and in the 4 times they called me today I got 4 different answers. They are a company that gives cash advances for access to your credit card funds. When I told the guy that I was gathering this information to report them to the FTC he said "That's why I gave you a false company name and address, a***ole" and hung up on me.

this number calls my place of work (a business) at least five times daily. no one says anything and i know its a scammer but i want the calls to stop because i have to stop what im doing when the phone rings. when i call back, the same as most of you have said, its a verizon customer who disconnect ed their phone. i think they probably found something out wow, look at them go. whatevs, i jsut want this to stop. and we're all the way in atlanta i dont know how or why theyd call all the way over here. its weird

This number has called my place of work twice today. I called the number back to have us put on their do not call list. A guy named Daniel answered and I told him my request and he actually said "Sure bi***" and hung up on me! I called back and it was a verison wireless message saying the number has been changed or disconnected. I just talked to him! I wanna talk to this rude little f**k and give him a piece of my mind!

Calls twice a a day with a recorded solicitation and when I press "1" and ask to have my number removed, the "wise-a**" answerer is rude and laughs at you hangs up.

This number is now calling businesses with a recorded message about loaning them money.  If I hit the 2 key, a different recorded voice recites my phone number and states it will be removed from their call list.

They've called two days in a row.

More automated telemarketing vermin which needs to be eradicated! There needs to be strong laws passed against this, which are enforced through heavy fines and jail sentences...LONG jail sentences

Illegal phone spammer not identifying themselves properly in the caller ID. Listing Sacramento, CA instead of their real name, which is in violation of the law. This tells me they are scammers and need to be avoided. Will somebody please contact law enforcement and ask to investigate this scam ASAP and hopefully arrest these perpetrators.

Got a call on our home phone at 9:20am this morning.  We didn't answer as we didn't recognize the number.

For some reason, car warranty telemarketing scams are very hot right now. The calls are almost always randomly dialed, so the telemarketer has no idea whether you have a new car under warranty or an old car or if you even have a car.  The message they call with makes it sound like your car warranty is about to expire; this is just a scare tactic aimed at tricking into "buying" a new car warranty and giving them your credit card number (which is what they are really after.)

I'm familiar with the car warranty scam because earlier this summer I was repeatedly slammed with prerecorded telemarketing calls trying to sell car warranties. The message on the recording made it sound extremely urgent and told me this was my "last notice" and that my car warranty is about to expire.

Regarding the calls you're receiving: if they are prerecorded messages, then they are illegal. The federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) specifically forbids telemarketers from making prerecorded calls to anyone who has not given permission to receive such calls.  If these were unauthorized prerecorded telemarketing calls, you can take your revenge by reporting each call online to the Federal Communications Commission (which enforces the TCPA.) It just takes a few minutes to fill out the form and here's the link to do that: https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do  The more information you can give in your complaint, the better. So try to note the date and time of each call and all the information contained on the Caller ID if you have that service.  (After I filed several reports with the FCC regarding the non-stop illegal telemarketing calls I received, the calls stopped altogether a couple weeks later.)

Finally, most consumers don't realize that the TCPA also provides an avenue for them to pursue monetary damages against the offending telemarketer to the tune of $500 per call. Of course, that involves going to court but it's not as difficult as it sounds. I believe that each time the telemarketer makes the call, they could be subject to paying $500 in damages. (In other words, if they call you 5 times, they could be liable for $2,500 in damages paid to you.) The number calls my house ALL the Time. It is Christmas Eve and they have called 3 times since 8 this morning. It is about some car warranty they are trying to sell. I just bought a brand new car a month ago but they have been calling for about 3 months. When I ask to be on their 'do not call list' them 'some bi****s' hang up on me and call back an our later!

I've gotten daily calls from this number for the last three weeks. Sometimes they don't leave a message, but more often they leave a message saying my car's warranty is expired and I need to take care of it right away. My car is 15 years old and hasn't had a warranty in quite some time. I suspect this is a company that's trying to sell people fraudulent warranties.

Same here. They have called a few times.  When I try to tell someone that they have the worng number I get hung up on.

I also got a call from this number on Dec 8. and got the exact same message.  WHat  is this number
