They said they were calling from Telefonia Legal Department and were looking for my fiance. My fiance is currently deployed. They wanted my information and I refused to give it to them. I instructed them that if they were calling from a legal department they did not need to contact my fiance directly, they needed to get in contact with his attorney, and I hung up on them.
Local Sherriff's department told me this scam has been going around. Someone calls and says they are going to take you to court for some outstanding bill (that you do NOT owe by the way) and tries to bully you into paying them off.

Okay, thanks folks, I wasn't sure if this was a new collection agency or what. I did go to the AT&T store to upgrade my account and add a line; I do find it interesting, however, that I am already getting survey calls when I haven't even completed the process yet!! I don't get the second line or the upgrade to Family Plan until tomorrow, and they started calling me YESTERDAY!! I think they need to wait until the customer actually goes through with the purchase before hounding us!!

Same a Lisa on Aug. 19th. I am worried this is a scam, and that I am going to get an awful bill in the mail or awful charges on my phone bill. Hope this mystery can be solved.

Left a short message in Spanish on my office line. I hate AT&T as it is, this is just more reaosn if it is them.
Lisa 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Automated message stating someone from this household made a purchase at an AT&T store and the caller was requesting a callback to take a brief survey regarding the recent purchase.
We have Sprint and have not made any purchases at any AT&T store though it is possible some jerk just threw out my phone number when the store rep asked for a phone number... My phone # ends in four 0's so, unfortunately, this is common that people just "make up" a phone number which just happens to be mine
Dee 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
This is one of AT&T's collection department's telephone numbers.
I know it because my son ran his cell phone bill up too high. Now they keep calling asking me the same questions. They've already been notified as to how the bill will get paid. So, now when I see the number I ignore them.
Carrie 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
If you recently made a purchase at an AT&T store then that is why they are calling, they just want feedback.
Duke 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
It's the At&T service center wanting to get a survey .
michele 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
i, too, have rec'd numerous caller I.D. calls from this number, however, no message has been left. . . i feel better reading these comments and that this is just a quality survey, therefore, would not leave a message if voice activated when hearing a pre recorded greeting.

Caller ID = ATT ----NOTE: NOT AT&T as would be expected
If it truely is a legitimate survey:
1. Why are they calling my VoIP, which has zero relation to my cell
2. Why would they be speaking to me in Spanish when I picked up the phone, since they would know by the store data that I speak english
3. Why would they be calling after giving feedback twice to an agent this week
4. If, it truely is a rep for AT&T, they should fire the agency & use the money saved to keep some of 9000 people they're laying off next week!

I have been getting these calls several times a day. I am handicapped and by the time I get to the phone no one will answer and they won't leave a message when my machine picks up. It is getting really frustrating to go through this.
Robert Sarkissian 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Just a automated quality feedback survey. Took only 4 minutes to complete
Mary 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
I received a call from the same phone number. When I answered it, no one was on the line. I figured it was another one of those telemarketers.
michelle 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
AT&T survey call.
D. Harris 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Several phone calls at my place of business! No messages or clue to who or what it is.
Val 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Seems to be AT&T calling to survey my experience with a recent purchase.

I spent 22 years working in Psychological Operations for a branch of our government. Please read on, and you'll be enlightened as to the source of these callers and how to deal with them.
When these people call, this a call from an offshore entity trying to get credit card info. IT IS NOT A CALL FROM AT&T. I repeat, THIS IS NOT AT&T.
They use a cloaking device that gives out this false number they are calling from so you won't really see the actual number coming into your Caller ID.
916-221-3660 is a number that was "pirated" and the original party having this number received so many irate calls from people (as evidenced here on this post) the REAL owner of 916-221-3660 typically switches and/or has no idea someone is using his/her identity to perpetuate a crime.
If you answer this caller (anyone calling from 916 or a Florida area code) often you'll hear a recorded message. And if you are gullible enough to listen to the "pitch," you will be instructed to either wait on the line for a "representative" or you will be instructed to "press 1" to reach someone in "account services."
Next comes the pitch. Usually these crooks will ask if you want to lower your credit card interest rates and save hundreds of dollars on interest. If you are an idiot and say "yes," they ask what your balance is, then they ask for your credit card number so they can get to work for you by either reducing your debt, reducing your rate.
Another "famous trick" is the caller says your vehicle warranty is about to expire and they can sell you and extended warranty for another 2 years, for a very reasonable price... Again, the unsuspecting person gives out their credit card info, and boom, you just got ripped off.
Bottom line, if you get a call from an odd area code you don't recognize, do one of two things. These are good ways to put the screws back on them... This is what I do... Guaranteed they will never call back
#1. Act like you are very happy they called and give them the idea, "Oh thank you for helping me out. My credit card is in my wallet in my car. Can you hold for just a few seconds while I run out and get that for you? I'll be right back." I leave the receiver of my phone aimed at an old tape record I keep by the phone where I have mixed a concoction of "music on hold."
#1. On my tape is the audio from one of the many annoying Billy Mays commercials, I am using OXY CLEAN.
#2. I have downloaded the music "Jeopardy Clock" from iTunes
#3. On my tape is, "Funky Town" by Alvin and the Chipmunks, iTunes
#4. Tex Ritter, "I've Got Spurs, That Jingle Jangle, Jingle." iTunes
#5. Hava Nagila, iTunes
#6. La Cucuracha (by Chicano Chant) iTunes
#7. Back in the Saddle Again, Gene Autry, iTunes
and then, I simply loop "Jeopardy Clock" 5 more recordings.
OR, TRY THIS.... Disquise your voice and say, "My name is Major James Ellis and I'm with the consumer fraud divison of (name of your state). A data trace has been commissioned on this call to determine the trace-back phone line of the destination source. Do I have you permission to record the rest of this conversation?"
Either one of the two above methods for responding to these bogus callers (who are nothing more than crooks) will ensure you will be dropped from their database.
I hope this helps. The MUSIC ON HOLD trick is VERY good for discouraging these people, so if you can access iTunes, record my recommendations above. That music (and especially Billy Mays) will discourage them from ever bothering you again.

Ive been getting this number on my caller ID at least 3 times a day. If it is true that it is really AT&T's customer service, then I would like to know why they are calling me. I don't use AT&T for anything nor have I ever. My number is completely private and I never give it to stores. If it were that by some weird coincidence that someone lied to a store and gave out mine, I would be shocked because that would be a pretty random set of numbers.

Call from ATT everyday for the past week, no message, I finally answered and they just ask questions about your last visit/purchase. No big deal!

I got this same call on my unlisted house phone and fortunately NOT my cell which I have through AT&T and reading the other postings it does seem very suspicious and it may get worse as long as we are in this financial crisis that the gov't seemed to turn its face and ear away from the complaints of the population

they keep bothering me as well. Stupid AT & T.
