Law offices of Paul Stassinos. obviously not out of business despite being sued. They are looking for my brother, not me. Very creepy that they have MY phone number.

I also received a call from this lady Michelle Marshall.  She said I had a check that didn't clear.  I asked her to send me a copy of the bill so that I knew it was legitimate.  She refused.  So, I told her until I see the bill, I will not pay it.  She called me multiple times to ask if I changed my mind about settling the debt.  She finally hung up on me when I told her I know my rights and she is only aloud (by law) to call me one time to advise me of the debt.  She was rude, argumentative and I will never talk to her again.  I would rather leave the debt unpaid than allow her to receive a paycheck by harassing me.

So this woman Michelle is just about the most horrible woman out there. My husband and I were doing a credit report on ourselves and came across a debt from 5 years ago that we had never seen on there. Apparently in 2003 we had a returned check from WinCo. Winco's policy is to not resubmit the check and instead send it to collections. The check had gone from $120.00 to $768.00 due to fees and such. When we contacted the collection agency which is a Law office, we talked to a lady who told us that we couldn't make payments on it but instead had to pay a "settlement" of $375.00. I told the lady that we didn't have $375.00 at once but we could save it over a couple of months and then settle.  She said fine. Now mind you WE contacted them, trying to settle an old debt.  Two months later I receive a call from a woman named Michelle who informs me that the case worker working on our case no longer works there and that she has been instructed to collect today or else they were going to sue me. She also said that we no longer could "settle" for $375.00 and instead had to pay for the entire amount.  I explained to her that that was impossible as we had four children, bills, etc to take care of. She said "thats to bad, you didnt think about that when you STOLE the food from Winco." The more that I talked to her, the more irrational, and abusive she became. She threated me with jail time for writing bad checks, and for fines ranging in the thousands of dollars. At this point in the conversation I stupidly let her get to me, I found myself distraught and near tears. I hung up with her an discussed the situation with my husband. He called her back and demanded to speak with her boss. At first she refused and said she was going to tell the lawyers to sue anyways. My husband called her bluff and told her he didn't care, he wanted to talk to her boss. We finally got in touch with her boss, a very nice man named Keith, who worked out a payment plan with us. He also instructed her NOT to call us again.  A few months later after making several timely payments, Michelle called us again. This time around, after she gave me the "your horrible, you stole, your going to jail speech, I told her I didn't give two craps what she said, I was dealing with her boss and if she called me again I was going to sue HER for HARASSMENT! See what they don't tell you is that you have to pay your debt, however, you don't have to talk to her.  Beware of her because she will try to harass you, but be strong, and ask to speak to her manager. She truly is evil, however, she is perfect for this job because she is able to scare the s**t out of people. Also, I found out that these "bill collectors" receive a percentage of the money they reclaim from people. So they are going to try to get it anyway they can. Keep an eye on your credit report and when you do pay these bill collectors off or settle, make sure you get a final bill or receipt stating "paid in full" GOOD LUCK!

I don't think that most advarege working Americans write a check just to see it bounce and deal with people like "Paul and Stasinoss" it is very much illegal to call people on the phone and tell them their going to jail or to call people and tell them they are calling from Superior Court or better yet say, that they are attorneys themselves how freaking illegal is that. You losers! Most of the people on here are not saying they don't want to pay. They ate saying the refuse to take paul's s***! How much money have they lost this far for being jerks? Hmmm. An attorney from this office called me and just presented himself on my answering machine as "the attorney" and didn't say which office he was with. Now that I know, I'm going to tell them to f*** themselves because I think they are thinking of suing me over a check for $25. How f****ng petty!

Why is it that when people get caught stealing by check they get pissed off? Maybe you shouldnt write Checks your Bank cant cash. It makes me sick that all my checks have to be good when the trash of the community gets to write bad ones .. STOP WRITTING BAD CHECKS ....

She is doing the same thing to my husband and I . We are going to pay the checkes we owe. However  one is 168.00 for pizza that was 28.00. The other was grocery store checks 484.00.  WE have until the 15th on the first one and the 20th on the 2nd and the girl my husband is dealing with is MIchelle.  He said she was not as rude as the first time a couple of years ago .  We forked out over 2000.00 that time.   This time is was an error because someone was debting our account with out our authorization. and it caused things to bounce.  I thought everything was paid off.  but I was an over site on my part. we were moving and somethings got missed. ugh  she is a B@!#$%

916-241-4631  -  This is the number that was left on MY NEIGHBOR'S voicemail a couple of days ago.  "David" called her by name and then went on to tell her that I gave him her number as a contact person and asked that she tell me to call him at the above number.  He then said that he was from the Law offices of Paul Stassinos.  I was so angry that I did some checking - and everything that "David" did with this call is a violation of procedure.  I never gave him my neighbor's number - and he is not allowed to leave a message on voice mail, nor is he allowed to call anyone but me or my husband about this matter.  I sent email to my creditor regarding this - I will deal directly with him at this point or not at all, he can just sue me.  I will not deal with Stassinos or anyone from that office.

I called the main number 916-961-3912 and asked for Keith (as indicated in "fed-ups" email above).  Keith is level headed and pleasant to deal with and I got my debt taken care of without having to deal with one of the debt collectors.

Received a call from (916) 241-4627. She completely freaked out on me when I asked to speak to her supervisor about never receiving a certified letter!  I have never needed to file a formal complaint against anyone. However, she needs to be stopped as well as her employer needs to eliminate her. What type of reputation does that give your office?

I have recieved several phone calls from Gary Peters,he's very rude,never says the name of the company he calling from.i wrote a check for $300.00 to american tires and it bounced.when i called the collection ageny to make payment arrangements they refused to take payment anrrangements.refused to give me an address to send it too.they would only take payments over the phone(which i knew they were lying about sending it in,they have a mandatory qmount of debt they have to collect on each day by pymts over the phone).the account eventually went to this law firm,and they are stating i own $1240.00 they will not explain why i owe so much,they start talking inlegal terms and loud talk you.he told my husband to get out of the relationship from man to man.he called me and said hold on not knowing who i was talking to i hung up,he called back and said whats wrong with you i hung up with a sick child to talk to you,you hold on when i tell you too,i demanded to know who i was speaking with and he says"this is gary i spoke to you last time,you remember me,don't play stupid.this is just two phone calls i have many more bad experiences with this company on this issuse.they also call from different phone numbers 415 or 408 or 916 numbers.this company has been sued in the past by attorney ronald wilcox,if you google the law firm stassinos law firm.the charge for fees their not suppose to

Today I recieved a call from Michelle at the above mentioned number and law offices.  She was totally rude and degrading to me.  She demanded payment for a bounced check that I totally take responsibility for.  I explainded that I could pay it in full on October 1st, 2008.  At this this point she was screaming at me and I hung up the phone.  Since I have caller ID, I called the number back to find out the company name, unfortunately Michelle answered.  Michelle toldf me that she was from superior court district attorney's office and that they where going to sue me.  Knowing the area I live in, Chico, Ca, I thought the cops would be knocking on my door to arrest me. THIS WOMEN MISREPRESENTED WHO SHE WAS.  She again started screaming at me.  I requested to speak to her manager, she said "not until you apologize to me".  I hadn't said anything to give her an apology.  Back and forth for a few minutes.  Okay by now I'm in tears,the manager, Gary Peters, gets on the line.  He's a fast talker, I can barely keep up with what he's is even saying.  H e tried to b***s*** and sweet talk me.  I again said when I could pay the balance, again that was unacceptable to them.  This doesn't carry the full affect of the conversations but, I ended up in tears and feeling kind of violated.  I then called the establishment that I bounced the check at.  I'll let you all know what happens.  Oh and Michelle is pure evel.

I had my checking account stolen, so a few checks bounced as my account was closed. I had called the merchants to try and resolve, but one had already forwarded it to paul stassino's office. Michelle called me and was a very rude person. I told her I would fax the police report and proof from my bank as this was a mistake. She tried to tell me I would get arrested if I did not pay, I was trying to pay right then over the phone, but she kept making comments about me. I called my lawyer who called Paul Stassinos, and we resolved it from there. I have filed a complaint that may go to court, as michelle and paul stassinos office violated the FDCPA and the Rosenthal act by the treats and demeanor in which they attempted to collect this. Especially since my situation was not my own doing, and I was trying to resolve it. If they do settle out of court great, but if this goes to court it is an automatic fine of $1000 per violation. If she calls more then once a day, log your calls, that is a violation. Every threat is a violation. I suggest you contact Law offices of Erik Newton based of out SF. He will take the case for no money. You are the victim if you are being harrased. Yes you owe money, but have rights, and they need to collect ethically and lawfully.

michelle called me about a check i wrote for 20 at marys pizza shack. she told me if i didn't pay it right then and there she would sue me. i told her i was driving and if i could call her back with a credit card number. she said "ya call here tommorrow so that someone can baby you through a payment" i told her that her remark was rude and uncalled for. she called me a profanitiy and told me i stole food and hung up on me. i called back the next morning with my visa card to pay the 49 dollars i owed them. i spoke with another rude woman named tanya who told me that it had gone up to 129 dollars. i asked her how it almost tripled in one day and she "because it did, we sent you a letter stating that." i told her i had only one letter and it read 49 dollars. she said "that's not my problem, you can dispute it if you want" i asked her if i could pay the 49 dollars right away and then contest it. she said no, we don't take partial payments and hung up on me. i have never in my life encountered anything like this. i felt like i was in the twilight zone. they brought me to tears.

Last night at around 6 pm I got an call from a # I didn't recognize.  I called back twice to confirm the outbound VM message, as it's a bit fuzzy.  The number was 916-241-4627.  I left a message to call me.  This a.m. a Michelle Marshall answered, was abrupt, rude, and said, "yes I know you called at least 15 times."  I called 2x's last night and just now.  She confirmed that her system showed I'd called 3x's.  When I confronted her on her inflammatory remarks to a person that has NO idea who she is or that she's calling a private line, she said, "it was a wrong number, I dialed a wrong number."  

She's horrible, sounds like she chain smokes, drinks coffee as a main meal, is over weight and gets paid to be internally and externally 'ugly.'  

It's her Karma.  Don't answer the phone.

Very rude regarding wanting to speak to one of my relatives.  I have personally dealt with this individual before and would like for them not to call my home or place of employment again.
