NO ONE DESERVES TO BE SCAMMED!!! Sure it's obvious to you and me and nearly everyone else that this is a scam but for whatever reason -some people are vulnerable to these criminals. It's sad, that you're such an arrogant a** toward your fellow humans.

Received two messages regards calls on answering machine from an East Indian Guy claiming to be "Eric Martin" from the IRS.  His tactics were interesting but laughable. Any one ever having to deal with the IRS knows you receive tons of paperwork and no phone calls.

Any one receiving calls from this number should know about TCPA violations.  It would be nice to obtain contact information for this outfit other then a phone number. I will also be a good idea to  take a picture of the time date stamp and phone number for this outfit and record everything.

Violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA) became federal law in 1991. The TCPA governs the conduct of telemarketers and often debt collectors. The TCPA restricts the use of automatic telephone dialing systems (also known as ?auto-dialers? or ?predictive dialers?), artificial or prerecorded voice messages, SMS text messages, as well as the use of fax machines to send unsolicited advertisements. A consumer is unlikely to know whether a call to his or her cellular telephone was initiated using an auto dialer - they often will sound like any other phone call. A call initiated using an auto dialer may in fact have a live person on the other end. However, keep this in mind: in order for a debt collector or telemarketer to maintain a volume operation, they must make thousands of telephone calls each day - so, if you are getting calls from a debt collector or telemarketer on your cellular telephone, there is a very good chance that they are violating the TCPA. In accordance with the TCPA, consumers are entitled to collect damages ranging from $500 to $1,500 for each unlawful call, fax, or text message.

Examples of common TCPA violations include:

Unless a consumer has previously given express consent, it is generally a violation of the TCPA for a business to engage in any of the following conduct:
Debt collector and/or telemarketing calls made to your cellular telephone, which were initiated by the use of an auto dialer.
Debt collector and/or telemarketing calls made to your cellular telephone, which were initiated by an artificial voice or a prerecorded message.
Sending unwanted fax messages, which solicit or promote a business (i.e. junk faxes).
Sending unwanted business advertisements via text messages to your cellular telephone.

I received a voice mail from this number.  The man didn't say his name, but he claimed he was calling from the IRS, on a Saturday! He had broken English, just like many of the other reports say.

Got a call today from some guy with a really thick accent.  I think he called himself "Jack Stoffer" --  I could hardly understand what he said.

I screened the call and he left a message claiming he was from the IRS and that I needed to return the call immediately.  Yeah right.  I immediately Googled the number and found this info.  Thanks for this great site.

One RED FLAG was that this person called me by my shorter name associated with my phone number, rather than my full name registered with the IRS.  So they must be getting numbers from the phonebook.

Got a measage on my home phone from "James" who had a thick accent and stumbled though his "script" leaving a threatening message from the IRS. I called the number back out of sheer curiosity and a person answered "IRS". First of all WHAT GOVERNMENT AGENCY PICKS UP ON THE FIRST RING WITH A LIVE PERSON? I said I got a phishy call from this number and the woman let loose a string of obscenities the likes of which I have never had hurled at me in my life. I hung up in the middle of it. I will report on Monday to the Attorney General's office.

Received a call from some broken-english speaking idiot stating he is from the IRS...Kevin Johnson.  He said I owed $6,499.52 for taxes from the past 5 to 7 years.  Said he was having me arrested unless I paid with cash through an authorized debit card within the hour. I explained that I didn't realize the IRS had the authority to arrest people, not did I realize that the IRS could resolve anything in an hour...lol  He explained that the IRS wasn't arresting me, but just having the police do so.  I said ok, if I'm getting arrested, which authority will be coming...local police..federal..who?  He wasn't sure.  I told him I would just go turn myself in.  Oh no... he said that if I could pay, he could avoid that.  I said ok..thanks!..lol Told him I had to go to ATM to get money.  He said he would stay on the phone with me until I got to the ATM..really!  I played along with him.  I asked him how come IRS didn't notify me before it was to the "arrest point?"  He said they have sent me notices, but he could not tell me what address they were sent to.  I asked him how much I owed for each year of the past 5 to 7 years.  He could not tell me a breakdown of how much for each year...!  I asked him for my case no. so I could reference it on the payment.. He said they do not assign case numbers..  I asked him to verify my ss. no.  He could not.  He is an idiot, a scammer, and a criminal.  I tried to report him to the police, but unless I am hurt/assaulted during the situation, they cannot help.  I tried to call the IRS fraud line, but was bounced around and finally received a department that could help me if I could hold at least 20 minutes, as I was next in line. This operation is so criminal, but can't seem to get an answer who can stop this!!  Unbelievable..   I feel for the victims that buy into this garbage.  It is very upsetting if you believe you may go to jail..I can see where some would be intimated...     I do not owe taxes for any year, federal or otherwise.  They are bad, bad people..BEWARE!

Claimed he was with the IRS and there was a warrant out for my arrest for tax fraud as what I reported did not agree with what they received from my financial institutions.  He wanted me to get Cash, and go to a 7-11, Circle K, or CVS Pharmacy and he would give me the "IRS Voucher" information there to make a payment on past due taxes.  Otherwise I would be arrested within one hour.  When I told him I did not think the call was real, and would not comply, he hung up.  I am still free - no arrest.

First thing this morning, I received a call from a woman claiming to be with the "IRS Department". Her accent was Indian and incredibly thick. It was comical, hearing her enunciate her name, which was supposedly Kristen Taylor. I informed Ms. Taylor that FRAUD was a very serious criminal offense and a bad thing to be involved with. I told her she could go to jail, that was, if she was even in the United States. She responded, with a hard to understand threat about a tax investigation, then threatened me with jail at which point, she hung up mid sentence.

Two things I know for certain:  1. I've paid every penny, I've ever owed Uncle Sam and 2. There's no way in hell, that lady's name was Kristen Taylor.

I received a call from this number on November 11, 2013--Veteran's Day [a federal holiday-btw].  A male who spoke very poor English identified himself as David Jones from the IRS.  He asked to speak to my wife about "back tax issues".  I asked him to talk to me and he said he could only speak to her.  I traced the number to CA and called it after 5pm CA time and just heard a beep--no message.

Just got a call from "Jack Wilson" .Heavy Indian accent......Said I owed I.R.S. back taxes and when I asked him to send me something in the mail, he said they already had and I had not responded..,then said he would send agents  to seize my property. I asked him to what address was it mailed ,he said "Sacramento"......I live in Arkansas!!!
At this point I told him he was a c***#%@*&* and he hung up on me.
It got my attentention when he said I..R..S.  BUT his heavy accent, crappy use of the English language ,and having fielded soo   many Indians calling my business in the past ,using common American Names, he should have said his name was "Habeeb" or something similar.

I just received a call from 916-245-0720 from someone named David Chang from IRS.  He indicated that this message was intented only for me that had pain sensitive information regarding deficiency with taxes.   He asked me to call my investigator Kevin Johnson at x101.  David told me that I needed to talk to Kevin today.   I informed David that I was not going to call their office until tomorrow, 11/12/13 due to the fact that today, 11/11/13 is a holiday the IRS office was closed.    David sounded confused but it was difficult for me to understand his heavy accent.  David asked me to call Kevin Johnson.  I left a message for him, which sounds like a VM becuase when you call the number there is a silence, no message greeting and then a beep.   After reading this postings this very well can be a scam.  There as been no return call from my message today, 11/11/13 at 9:30am PST.

WASHINGTON ? The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver?s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

?This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,? says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. ?If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don?t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn?t the IRS calling.? Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim?s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it?s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver?s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here?s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue ? if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don?t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you?ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you?ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their ?FTC Complaint Assistant? at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

More information on how to report phishing scams involving the IRS is available on the genuine IRS website, IRS.gov.
