Just got a call from them, the automated voice telling me FBI statistics and offered to put up a "free sign" and "free alarm system" in front of my home.  Hung up after the "Please press 1 to learn more!"

Got a call from this number with an automated message. Tried calling back, and was told to press any digit to be removed from the list.

Called my *work* number.  Got a recording starting off stating that "this is not a sales call"; that's where I hung up.

Bull$#!+ it isn't.

Caller ID only shows "Customer Srv" as the caller.

Yes, I work for a company that has been getting the same call all afternoon.  Certainly not a reputable place because when I got the girl on the phone she said it was Home Protection Services, but when I asked where they are located she hung up on me.  Then I got 3 more calls within a 2 minute period.  I don't know what there game is, but I wouldn't buy any security system by them.

I haven't had a land line in years and still get the same calls on my cell. Giving up a landline doesn't really change anything. I never give out my number. I never put it down on any forms. No one has it but family and friends, not even work, school or the doctor.

Also there is no way to "advise elders" on this and there is no way, that I know of, for caller ID to help.
These numbers always show up as average, us, 10 digit phone numbers, the same as any. The area code is usually different and can be a give away, but it could just as easily be a friend, family member etc. in that area trying to contact you from a number you don't recognize.

DO NOT ANSWER,

DO NOT CALL BACK.

If it's really important, they'll leave a message or NOT CALL when you're eating.  Remember, your friends and family know how to get a hold of you.

I agree with everything you've said, except the call I got was on my CELL!  I save the numbers as 'Spamxxx" with the xxx being the numerical order in which they've called me.  I'm up to Spam14.  FOURTEEN different numbers have called MY CELL PHONE!  WTF

DO NOT ANSWER,

DO NOT CALL BACK.

If it's really important, they'll leave a message or NOT CALL when you're eating.  Your friends and family know how to get a hold of you.

Keep calling cell 3, fed up. I tell caller when they ask if homeowner is home that I'm not home. they hang up. I've tried several times to push remove from call list option. this just seems to mean " this one's a challenge. FED UP WITH THIS. I was told that you can't put cell # on no call list, only land lines.

had the same thing happen. only the original call number was 904-250-0119. this was a computer call. called the nimber back and computer msg said to press any digit to be removed from calling list.  within 4 minutes I got another call from the 916-245-6259 number, no one was on the line when I picked up. Oh they called my cell and I just started getting them on my cell about a week ago.

COPY***********I got a call from 901-249-1445 talking about a free security system. I've gotten the same recording before, and asked to be removed, so I pressed the option to speak to someone.

Ten minutes later I got a call from 916-245-6259, and it was a girl who didn't give her name (red flag) claiming to be from "Protection Services" (in the past it's been something like "American Security Solutions") which asked if I was the homeowner. I didn't answer and told her I wanted to be removed and asked again for the name of her organization. She said that since I was writing down the name of the company (which I didn't say I was) then I could obviously take care of it myself and hung up. *************

Same here except this number now calls every ten minutes or so.....B*****ds better hope I don't find them.

Clearly not a real customer service person or telemarketer. Not sure what the scam is, maybe casing peoples' houses to rob them later as someone said above.

Ok so I got a call from this number 901-249-1445 on my cell phone I have nothing but time so I answered it, the call was choppy could not hear much all I could make out was an alarm system, and the FBI, and to press 1 to be removed I just hung up. About 10 min latter another call from number 916-245-6259 I again answered the call the person on the other line stated since your neighborhood has an increased crime rate GE is offering a free wireless security system, I told the person how would they know the crime rate in my neighborhood he hung up on me LMAO. Anyway it is either a call center selling for GE or GE them selves calling trying to sell a home security system, hope this helps someone.

They called on a Saturday which is against the law. I do not pick up due to the fact that I have gotten to know numbers like these as telemarketers and scammers. Since the Federal gov't 's FTC are eunuchs and can't do their jobs. It is up to each and every one of us to stop it ourselves by not answering the phone . When they cannot make money on us it will stop.
1. Don't answer
2. Tell your friends and family don't answer
3. Let the elder know about this and show them on their phonies about how a telemarketer's number looks like on caller ID
4. File a complaint with the FTC Do not call registry
5. Get caller ID if you don't have it.

I do believe that these obnoxious and illegal calls are one of the causes of giving-up of landlines in homes.
The power is in the people to fight this.

Starts with a offer for a FREE alarm system. Clearly they just want to case your home for a future break in.  Alarms aren't free.
