It is obviouslu some third world scam.
I think they're dirty little Russian nerds angry at the world because they filthy little s****ole of a primitive joke of a country.
And, if their grammar and spelling are any indication, they're illiterate Kazaks too.

no, you don't understand, it's a CASHIER'S CHECK.  It can't bounce.  The bank took it, so it must be ok. OH! Unless it's from a now defunct bank!  I didn't think about that.  I'll give the issuing bank a call tomorrow.

You could almost say that I may have been scammed, but it doesn't really matter anymore.  I was lucky enough to get contacted by the son of the late President Okonkwo of Africa, and I'll soon be rich beyond all imagination!  So what's a measly 3 grand???

better see if you can stop payment. This is a common scam, your cashier's check will bounce, and you'll be responsible for covering the bill. Contact your bank about this right now.

I received that exact same message!  I gave him a total, and he sent me a check for $3800, from which I was to subtract my quote and then pay the shipper.  I can't see how anyone could go wrong with this guy.  I received the $3800, in the form of a cashier's check!  I deposited the entire amount in my account and sent his shipper $3000 via western union.  They are being shipped out of Africa, of all places!  I expect that I will be seeing them soon.

Same thing here. Wanted my services I live in Indiana.  Scam artist no doubt

Same exact experience and message with a different gmail account name. Not sure why someone would take the time to answer consistently to computer service companies on Craigslist.  I am based in Colorado too and do not serve California except through remote services - which I have offered this person with advance payment of half the estimated cost.

No call, email re ad posted on craigslist.

Same thing here.  Wanted installation of programs on 4 laptops - but offered to pay with check.  Wouldn't know why they'd want services in Kansas City?

I posted on Craigslist too and have this same issue from someone named George at email yesfast@gmail.com

Same problem as Mr.B's

No phone call. This number was left from a reply from an ad I had posted on Craigslist.  The reply email is anniehunters8@gmail.com. I do not know why someone from Sacramento, CA would want my services from Colorado. This number is a land line in CA.
