Numerous of u wanted calls

Been receiving calls from the 916-282-**** block 2-3 times a day. Finally answered, and a man with a heavy Indian accent named Luke claimed to be from "Windows Support" calling about my computer. I told him I don't have a computer, and he apologized and hung up.

Obvious scam. Hopefully the no computer line will stop them calling.

Calling phones around the entire country over multiple years should tell EVERYONE what kind of BS this is!!!!!

From what I am reading about this number, it appears someone is trying to sign up for entitlements to which they are NOT due using my stolen identity! I work for everything I have. Never used wlefare!

Why would California EBT be calling someone in Indiana?  

I keep receiving calls from 916/282-1800.  I have never applied for state benefits, welfare, food stamps, etc.  These people call me 2 or 3 times a day, will not leave a message, and when I return the call it's just blank air.  How do I know that somebody isn't using my name and social to get benefits without my knowledge??

They remind you of for example a phone interview. You do not have to go on any website or give out any information! This number just called me today twice. I called it back and it was not in service. crazy!!!

Calls every morning at least twice unless I ansqer on first ring there is never anyone on the phone but silence very creepy

I received call from this number two days in a row, i do get food stamps so after seeing these comments, i called my worker not only is this not an associated number with my counties system but it does not show on my account any attempted calls had been made. That when and if i should get a call from their ivr system it would be a number from my own counties area code

THanks for the info. It was the system letting me know I had aphone appt. which I already knew. I also reportd it to my worker.

its welfare calworks medi-cal food stamps...state of CA lame system.  i turned in my quarterly report and one day later this call comes thru caller  id says SACRAMENTO .. didnt pick up and their computer leaves a message that says "C4" thats it.  later the social worker says that they have tried many times to reach me.  one call is many times i guess.  if you get this call, you might want to call ttm or your worker....or your benefits may not be there next month.

This is a legit call. Unfortunately they are still trying to work out the kinks with this automated system. A worker for my county told me some people are getting lots of calls from the number. I signed up to have the system update me on info almost a year ago and have yet to get a call until today. Clearly the system is still being fixed. They also can't really leave a message on your phone for confidentiality reasons in case it's a shared phone.

Thanks for the info. I had missed three calls and had tried calling back getting nowhere. I also only receive food assistance and called my worker after reading your post. She told me that it should just be an automated message letting you know the status of your case and if anything additional is needed.

If it were a legit county number thing, they'd leave a message stating who they are, what they want, and supply a way to get ahold of them. Im ignoring it as I dont want to get scammed. and if you really think that is what it honestly was, talk to your worker and ask about it.

I get called every morning, at 8:17.  No answer, no message, nothing at all.  No clue.

It's for welfare enefits people. Calm down. When you sign up for any government assistance, even edd unemployment, you get automated updates. It's not a prank call Lmao!!!

These scammers rotate through a ton of numbers starting with 916-282-1800. Good luck blocking them.

they told me they were from a law firm and tried to say I was being sued and had some phone case number. SCAM ALERT. They refused to transfer me to a manager.
They then called me 53 times in a row. I had to block the number.
The guy was an a***ole in India trying to screw us for money.
