Just called but didn't wait for the answering machine to kick on, I have it set at 6 rings, perhaps they my number isn't active. Doesn't matter, their number is now blocked.

Most are charities and they are exempt from a No-call list.,. Call number back, wait on the line and they will tell you how to remove yourself from their list.

Ever since we had to put my mom in a home I get these calls for "old people phones, walk in bath tubs, life alert" all scams as I am listed with DNC for legitimate telemarketers. These jerks pick up telephone numbers through any public record and after filing for power of attorney I received the old folks calls. Before it was for my kid going to college type calls after he listed our home line on one of the tests taken through the College Board. All scum for selling our number.

I started using youmail as an app on my cell but now they allow landlines so I added my landline. Thanks for naming this company Tiredofit as it helps me properly identify them with what I use to ditch callers like this. I too could not get my phone company to use  nomorobo. It would put them out of business from not shutting down scum like this even when they know about it.  I added a slew of numbers someone posted on page 1.

My phone co. wants $ so I sought out alternative solutions and now use youmail.com  

These guys call once and I block them. Sometimes this place helps me identify them ahead of the call and I add them to the ditched contact. for purposes of ditching and other posters I listed the caller id as it came through. Don't pick up folks if it says

I just got a second call. And to the posters who advise us to DEMAND our phone companies use NOMOREROBO, I did, 3x.

Obvious boiler room as the Children's Cancer Society called yesterday as did 12 other numbers. Today they just varied their number by one digit so it's easy to tell it's the same telemarketer.
Since No MoreRobo is unusable with either of my carriers (the pits because they are major carriers ATT and Verizon) STILL I sought out alternatives. I have the DNC list so I don't get called by legit telemarketers. What's up with that ATT & Verizon? They must be in collusion with the shark telemarketers, why else wouldn't they not allow nomorerobo to work on their lines?
I signed up for youmail.com so every time I get an unknown number I check online and if it gets a hit here or on another site it gets ditched!
I am not paying my phone carriers for something that should be free like on my cell phone and youmail. I will eventually sign up and pay for further services if youmail.com continues to be the boon that it has been.
All my friends and family like it because youmail says their name when they call and I get sent an email telling me they called if I am not close to my phone. Now that's service!11

They called my home after 8pm. I answered right away asking why they would call this late and that my family is sleeping.  Stated I was going to have them reported to the authorities and have them arrested for harassment.  The snarky little punk on the phone said he would have me arrested for slander because I swore at him. Didn't know swearing was against the law. I will be reporting this. These companies are out of line!

When I did the *67 callback tonight, the recording said they "raised money for many worthy causes and would try to call back"

See if your phone service has a selective forwarding or selective rejection service.  Mine does, and I keep adding these low-life's numbers to the forwarding list.  Oh-and the number I forward them to: 202-456-1111.  The White House.

Caller just hung up

Calls from this number come all the time. They hang up when you answer! This is nothing more than harrassment.

caller ID says it all..no legitimate business hides their caller ID

1) Make sure you've registered your number as a Do Not Call Number.
2) Report these irritating calls on the Federal Trade Commissions Do Not Call Violation site. https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
Hopefully if enough people do this, the government will tighter the laws or increase the fines.

I don't bother trying to  be polite anymore. I pick up the phone, don't even listen, let them listen to my house noise if any - and then I just hang up.

I do not trust any charity making phone calls. Because too many have other organizations making these calls for them that take a big chunk out of your donation as their  'fee'.  If you want to donate - do so locally. I like sticking change in legit counter collections. But be careful of those too - because I have heard some places like to skim off the top. The key is to actually know where your money is going. Want to donate money? How about your local volunteer Fire-station.

Even when local children come to the door...I give cash. I don't want to be on any mailing lists. If they don't want cash I make a check out to them or their parents with the instructions not to put me on any lists!!! My junk mail has decreased over the years. :) And here is another tip: buy your favorite magazines - subscriptions mailing lists get sold and passed around.  

They left some garbled message. Caller ID just says Sacramento,CA. Blocked the number

Irritating to get calls Monday morning as I work at home.  Didn't answer.  They didn't leave any messages.

Received call.  Didn't answer.  They didn't leave a message.  Caller ID says "PLEASANT GRO CA"

I get calls from this number constantly.  It is a telemarketer.  Charity or not, when one is on the "Do Not Call' list charities should not be excluded from making calls.  No one is ever on the line when I answer the phone! I'm about ready to cancel my phone service altogether...even my cell!

I just now got that call  claim they are seeking donations for Children's Leukemia.
