Alright so I am so glad that I found this post. I saw this guys post on craigslist and I was seriously going to go through with it regardless if it seemed sketchy. Anyways I didn't do it and now I am f****ng pissed that I was even played like that. I am sure he probably checks this page to see what mayhem he or she created. what i need to know is, how does someone know he is a scam? AND what IS THE SCAM?

what if he deposits $600 in my bank or mails me a working money order and i can cash the money he gives me?

Please tell me the purpose of the SCAM....is it short term....trying to steal money from my account(impossible) or the SCAM longterm, to get my trust ...i will empty my account of ALL sent money each time and put it in another account, so at ALL times my account will show $1.

I remember the CL ad being titled "Data Entry/Receptionist" and having information about working 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.

Too much time wasted on these scammers...

I only received an email, a reply to a job posting on Craigslist. I got a bad feeling when I read his response, grammar was off, tense was wrong.... so I did  a Google search on the number... surely the authorities can find him if he uses a land line. His name is now John Hamilton

Nancy   I hope you reported this guy and provided information to the FBI.  IT is internet fraud.  I found out that he uses the same phone number and was trying to scam people in Seattle and went under the name of Larry Bryant.  Everyone needs to report this guy so that some action can be taken against him.  And keep a file of information that you have on him.  I have all the emails and the check that got sent to me for $2750.00 -- I didn't cash it and questioned him on receiving funds from a total stranger. He never answered any of my questions.

File a complaint with the FBI.  It is internet fraud.  The phone number he uses is a land line and he answers it and when you ask who am I talking to -- he says John Cooper.  The FBI will have you fill out a complaint at IC3 -- their internet fraud site.  Keep all the emails and dates etc. SO that you have all the documented evidence.  I have a file on this guy and if it is needed by the authories they can have it.

Report the guy to the FBI --- it is internet fraud and they will direct you to their website and you file your complaint there.  If everyone starts doing it they can zero in on this guy and charge him.  But don't cash any checks they are all phony and this is a fraud.  Some people have already been taken in by this guy.

I got the same job.  I received a check from a Latoya Scott via air mail from England that was post marked Oct. 29.  It came by email.  I only got told on Oct. 28 that I was hired for the job.  Interesting how the check arrived so quickly.  It was a check made out to me for $2750.00 -- on Sun Trust paper. The note stated that it was for funds owed to my BOSS - John Cooper.  To cash it and email him. I took the check to the bank ( with NO intentions of cashing it) to get more information -- the routing number was for Sun Trust in Orlando FL.  It was also pointed out by my bank that there were 3 different fonts on the check --- not something that would be done at most financial institutions.  I have reported the information.  A John Cooper or so he says he is -- answers the phone .  The best thing to do if you receive a check is to call the FBI and fill out a report.  They will probably have you fill out a complaint form at the IC3 website.  I wouldn't cash the check.  He said in an email to me that the check would clear in 24 hrs.  It could take between one week to two weeks to clear.  In the meantime you are liable for those funds if it is a phony check.  If it all sounds too good, it probably is too good to be true.

I got the exact same email today, plugged in the phone number and got here, I'm really glad you people post this stuff, I don't have a job and have no money to loose on scammers, Thanks!

his guy send me a check for $2750...and yesterday it was rejectred by my bank..BAD CHECK!..I was tolded by my bank personnel..it looked suspious...NOT to withdraw money angainst this check to wait to make sure it cleared...SO I did listen, thank God, and yes that check bounced yesterday and my bank charged  me $10 for "bad check"..When I get the this check returned to me; I am going to file scam against John  Cooper (Calif).

I replied to "John Cooper's" word for word email and then I got a travelers check in the mail today from some lady for almost $3000. She put a letter in with the check saying that it was money to pay the debt she owed him. Now I dont know what to do with it.

I just received an email from this same person today with the exact same message. It has to be a another scam. I will not be responding.

This is a one time blog to inform people of these persons that are operating on craigslist, and they are not honorable.  I recieved a citibank check today for $2700.00, and it is very obvious that it is a fake.  I am going to take it to the authorities.  

I have been trying so hard to find a job, and I think I have a bite.  I was responding to a job add, when I recieved an email from Larry Bryant.  I am not sure how he makes his money by sending me a check, but I am a believer of the posts that I have already read on these individuals, and if it appears to be too good to be true, it is....trust your instincts.

I am a very gullable person, but I refuse to be HAD!!!  Make sure to report any activity so that they can catch him and others!!  Thanks for reading!

It has to be a scam...it looked like a real job at first (I have been applying to a lot of jobs so I am not sure what posting it is). How tacky to try and take advantage of people looking for work! Glad all he has is my name and cell phone (even though I would rather him not have either).

I seen that posting and sent him a email with my resume attached yesterday, I also got the same reply as you did, now i'm losing my mind because my resume has my info. After reading his reply I do not think its safe to send him anything, he wants to send you money to do things for him before yall ever meet........ that doesn't even sound right.

He is a spam and a hacker. There are strong possibility he is trying steal personal identity other people.
