I am sure these calls can be very stressful but you can rest assured it is a scam.  If you were truly being sued you would have received papers from a process server.  Do not talk to him again and block the number if you can.

I am shaking... I got a call from thess people and said i was a criminal and he was calling from the state attorneys office. He said how could i not know that I was being sued. He read this big long script and then said that he was going to call my work. I tried to find out what compny, and he said what am i your servant. and called me a queen.

and the number he gave me to call back asap was 9164323761, his name was Roy Hunter. He sure didnt sound like a "Roy Hunter" lol

Yes this man from another country called me and said he was the attorney general in california and that I had a law suit against me regarding an old bill. And that I needed to pay up. He called my work number 5 times.

My caller was David Williams. Quite original for somebody with a heavy Indian accent. The name of the law firm was Johnny something. I couldn't understand the rest of the name.

Did you try any loan websites before these calls started happening?

It's a fake so don't worry about it. What company did you get your payday loan from? I would think that they got their information from that company somehow. I would contact that company and ask them about this. If you list this company it might help others to know not to use this company.

I started receiving these calls after I started to apply to freecreditreport.com and Springleaf financial.

He said he was going to sue me.

Last night I received a call from this number. They asked to speak with me and I flat out said "NO!" Then this morning I received another call from them stating that I was being sued. I promptly responded with "No I am not. Do not call me again." They called an additional 21 more times. Every time the phone rang I could see the phone number and I just clicked on "Decline". Twenty one hang-up's........ persistent or just stupid? I'm voting on stupid! I am planning on getting a coaches whistle and the next time they call I am going to blow it as loud as possible into the phone. Maybe a broken eardrum can fix "stupid"!

Got a call from this number. Left a message saying that my wife's attorney needed to call back to avoid criminal prosecution. Called the guy back, he answered "Attorney Chris Miller's Office." I asked to speak to Attorney Chris Miller, he said that is him. I asked him about the calls, he said he wasn't placing calls right now. He asked my wife's name, knew her address, etc. Guy claimed to be from the State's Attorney's office but refused to give me any details. I asked for the case number, didn't have it. I asked what year this "loan" took place, he said he didn't have any further details and that my wife would receive the paperwork in the mail. I said to him, "If you're with the State's Attorney's office, you would have all the details, like what year the supposed loan was, how much it was, etc." He said he didn't have any of that information and that he had only been handed the case two hours ago. And even if there WAS a loan that was taken out, my wife has ben sick for 10 years and we had to declare bankruptcy a few years ago and every single thing was on there.

I'm so glad this stuff is on the Internet to help us all. These foreign people (because both this and the other number that left a similar message today were foreign people) should be placed in jail for harassment among other things.

I would like to report a Sam Scott calling from what is supposed to be a lawfirm.  Says he is informing me of a lawsuit that has been filed against me and they had personal information of mine such as SS# and such.  I was not able to understand what law firm he was to be calling from.  But when I would call the number back all I got was background noise or what sounded like a fax machine.  I think maybe it sounded like the law office of John A Bell.  Not sure.  The voicemail has expired and automatically deleted itself.

I too for several days now have received these same messages as everyone else has.  I looked them up and it is well a scam.. My guys name was Sam Scott claiming to be with some law firm and informing me of a lawsuit that has been filed against me.  The same number and all.  So now that I know it is a scam, I plan to toy with them the next time they call.  I thank each and every one of you for following up and reporting these scammers.  If you have not or just ignored them well they will get shut down sooner or later.  How do you have an Indian or middle eastern accent and have a normal name like Sam Scott?  come on now.  Get more creative why don't you.

same number has called my work place twice but to deferent last names one was allen smith and the other was allen smiph but they have the same number 9164323761 I called one and he told me that I was going to be arrested at work today when I went in I was so scared I told him that I do not know what he was talking about I called the us attorney office and they said I was being scamed but I told him that this  guy hatefull and that he had scared the hell out of me but there is nothing that they can do but seen me some inf. on how to handel it.

Same number called me says his name is Tiff and says there is a law suit agains me, I did borrow some cash advance money last week but it is not due till later this week. Please what should I do!!! They keep calling me.

Received several calls in my voice mail. The man is very hard to understand. He says that he is calling from the law department of legal investigation. Said "this message is "enchanted" (who says that?) for then my name" He is giving the name of David Cooper. He also called me at work and said I need to listen to his message and call back and talk to Robert Coscon (but gave the same # for him) I called the number and no one answered then it was just a beep.  Threatened to contact my employer and that I could lose my job. Said that charges against my social security number, drivers license and bank statements and references were being investigated. They need to be stopped. I could tell it was not real, but its scary to know these people have my information. At the end of message he told me to "have a blessed day".

Totally a scam. Don't freak out. After I read this forum, I called the guy back and said, "I know this is a scam and I'm going to take legal action"  And he replied. "I won't call you anymore if you don't call me. thanks bye." And tried to call back again to give him more of my mind, but now he's not answering. Man, I'd like to punch this guy in the stomach for freaking me out like that.

I recieved a call 3/23/2013, from a Hindu God, lol!! He said his name was Frank Robinson, and he needed me or my attorney to call ASAP!! He stated the matter should not be ignored and if I did choose to not return his call Mr. 7/11 told me, " May God Bless You"!! I tried to call back and all I get was a beep!! I to made the mistake of filling out an online app for credit.. This guy is somewhere in Bangladesh, with flies stuck to the corner of his eyes making 80cents an hour.  Don't buy into this Bulls$#%%.

You certainly could call the non-emergency number for your local police.  They've probably heard similar stories before.  The phone number is probably being spoofed so it will be hard to track them down.  The criminals are probably in India, outside of US jurisdiction.  The police might have further advice as to how to handle these scum.  If it were me, I'd try to block the number and not talk to them again.

And I am greatfully to find out that I am not the only person that this has happened too.  When he called all I could do was think bout was my children what would happen if this was real and it upset me really bad.  So again thank you for all the help.

You ignore him Sandi. He's nothing but a goat-spawned Indian scammer. They're a pest, and that is it. He has no rights, no authority and no life. They've been pulling this sort of thing for years. It's getting old, so they've been expanding their repertoire. If you piss him off he'll likely try to jam your phone lines at home and at work. Warn your employer.
If you're a good person, pity him. If you're a good person with a mischievous side (like me) you can toy with him. They can be a real barrel of laughs. They are truly pathetic people, much like their american mentors. Nothing but hot air, and that includes the space between their ears.

It is a scam, as reported by many others on this thread.  If you do talk to these criminals again, demand they give you their address so you can certified-mail them a letter demanding validation of the debt.  They will likely refuse to give you their address.  That further proves it is a scam.  Do NOT give them any of your personal information.  Also, if you really were going to be arrested, you certainly would not be given any advance notice.  You might want to read up on the FDCPA to educate yourself should they call again.  http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump.shtm     and    http://credit.about.com/od/debtcollection/tp/fdcpa-violations.htm

I just got a call from this number and he had a accent saying that I had three charges on me and I told him I had no clue what he was talking about and he told me to have fun being arrested in a hour and God bless.  I tryed Calling the number back and they will not answer.   What should I do?

this a-hole was harrassing on of my employees calling the business and her at least 15 times a day threatening and cussing.  even when i told him he could not call her at work he continued etc. so we filed a complaint with our states attorney general, local police, the states attorney general of ever number he called from and the FTC, and had the employee do the same.  then we gave his numbers out to everyone we knew (all the numbers he had called from)  then people told him you can get hack too, you are a para site, do you think you can get burner cells and magic jack phones sent to you and no one can trace that, you messed with the wrong people.... you get the idea.  the calls stopped and with in two hours two ot those number were no longer being used through magic jack.  so report it but also have a little fun give him a taste of his own medicine fight back and if you do have hacker friends sic them on him.  please pass this on please fight back what's he going to do call the cops?

I am having the same issue with this number 916-432-3761 stating that they needed my attorney to call them in reguards to a cash advance. She asked me for the last 4 of my soc. Then said that there would be a warrent for my arrest if i didnt send them the money to settle. Then put me on hold like she was talking to the court house, and came back on in a minute and said send us this money and we can settle out of court. Be aware all and report this to the police.

I got a call from 916-432-3761 this morning. I picked up and heard it was noisy so I just listened as the guy who sounded middle eastern said "hello" 4 times than hung up. He calls me right back a second time and I answer by saying "hello" and he proceeds to ask me for my information and that i have a case file pending towards me. So I ask what he is talking about and he tells me that he can't tell me and that I will have to speak to his supervisor. So I flipped out and hung up. He then proceeds to calls me 3 more times back to back and on the last call I picked up and told him if he called me again I was reporting this number to the police for harassment and that was the end of that!

Inform the FBI they have people for this.

This guy has called me about 7 times today claiming to be from a law office, when I call the number back they answer it "How can I help you" I have never heard of a law office answering a phone like that, They tried this crap on me about a year and a half ago and got me pretty shook up saying police were on the way, I currently have an attorney for another matter so when he call again I am going to turn over my attorneies info and then let them know that I will be giving their info to my attorney to pass on to the DA and a possible Law suit from me for harrassment.....these guys are total scammers just trying to get you scared so that you will give them money....I will also be contacting my local police on this....somebody needs to stop this crap it is getting old.
