I received a phone call from a man stating that his name was John Williams and he was from the attorney generals office.  He had a thick Indian accent.  He said that I owed money from Advance America and if I didn't resolve the matter I would be arrested.  I freaked out and asked what I needed to pay because he had the last 4# of my social I thought it was legit.  I was told to get a green dot payment card and he would call me back in a few days.  I investigated by calling the attorney generals office.  They are able to check if I owed any debts and my name was clear.  They also stated that John Williams is not with the attorney generals office and I filed a complaint.  They stated not to talk with them anymore.
This John Williams has called me over 25 times in 2 days and when I block one # he calls from another.  The numbers you should look out for are: 888-851-4118, 347-565-6377, and 646-807-3952.  
Be careful its a SCAM!!!!!

Got a call at work, person identified themselves as James White.  Call came from 916-469-8861.  They called multiple times but it didn't go through at first.  When they got through, the person was incredibly courteous and had a thick accent.  Asked for my boss (horribly butchering the pronunciation of his name).  Said he was from the Attorney General Office of Sacramento and that there was a legal complaint against his social security number. Gave his callback number as 916-469-8857.

Same thing happen to me they called nonstop and i kept telling them i wont give information over the phone to mail me any pepers i want to see and read what i was being charged for the guy hung up, they called me back already annoyed i told them stop calling me and my work i will file a police report once i said that the guy with a very heavy accent told me i couldnt do that as i waa talking to him i googled the number i confronted him about it telling him i googled the number you gave me to call and it says this is nothing but a scam then he got very very mad and told me ooh you have no idea what the f*** you have done i will go kill you and bomb you. Very scared and hung up the phone and went to the police station where they told me that i did good in not giving any information out they asked for the numbers they where calling me from so they can see if they can track or do something they also said i need to red flag my ss# n change my number and email since they had all that. These guys are complete a***oles doing this to people.  

This Douche called me at work asking for a co-worker. His name was Roy Wellf and he works for the State Attorney's Office. He claimed to have a law suit against my co-worker and when I told him hes not available he wanted to have me take a message for him which I refused. He asked for a manager and when I told him hes not available, his tone changed and he became agitated demanding to speak with a manager. This is when I got pissed off and told him off but still took his info for my manager. Guy had a heavy accent and I had to constantly ask him to repeat what he said. He also called me from this number "916-469-8857".

Some guy was blowing up my phone at 7:30am stating that he was a paralegal and that I needed to speak to senior state attorney brandon gabriel over a pending legal matter. If i didnt call, the police were gonna show up to my house and work and that i was going to jail for 9 months over a 500 dollar debt.. Me being half sleep, i took it seriously and called this "brandon gabriel" immediately.. Some a***ole with a heavy indian accent tells me police are on their way to arrest me in 10 minutes unless i wanted to make the case go away. He said I was being charged with check fraud and other "federal" b***s*** and unless i gave him money the police where on their way. I tried reasoning with him and finally grew suspicious and googled his name and phone number and found this website.. I proceeded to call him out on his bs and hung up on me.. 2 minutes later i get a call from "shaniqua rodrigues" from my local police department and tells me i was rude to "the senior most state attorney brandon gabriel" and she was giving me 2 minutes to call him back and resolve the matter.. Keep in my mind "shaniqua" had a heavy indian accent as well lol.. I called my local police department and they told me it was a scam.. These people should be ashamed of themselves.. I wish i could hit each one of them in the face..

I received the same call from the same number, the 916 number.  This John Williams at first that turned into George Belowsky, stated the same information as above but when I started inquiring about the name of the Attorney's Office and the spelling of his name he was on pause....I then told him I was recording the call and that my Lawyer is also listening into the conversation.....He hung up!  

I just received a call like yours he said his name was John Williams, from the state attorneys office- but his voice was heavy in accent, however it sounded "robotic"---irronically I have been forwarded prior to this call(s) they keep comming in different area codes-I will make mention of this- I have been trying to track down a very small debt (from a previous payday loan company) I only owed $50.00 Advance America and they sold it to a credit and collections agency. I started to call the number they gave me and it was sold 4 times ending up with this company:  American Southwest Open Asset - telephone number 888 566 5591- well guess what, I have called since last week and all you get a voice mail, It  will ask for you to leave your name, phone number, account number and get this "social security number"--that's not wise to leave on a voice mail to an "unknown company".  So i left all of the above minus SS#.  Soon after I left my message I started receiving calls from multiple area codes....and the most recent was from below mentioned "John Williams" State Attorneys Office.  It's a SCAM!  I thought the background information might help.

It's Wednesday March 19th 2014 and I have been receiving calls from  a multitude of telephone numbers however this one left a message- his voice was foreign and almost sounded like a "robot" he stated that there was a legal matter being filed against me/and my social security number and said that if I did not call a take care of this matter the lawsuit would be filed- he stated the following: "Have you or your Attorney of Record return this call--my name is John Williams,  from the State Attorneys Office" He said also "Don't disregard this message and do return the call now, if you don't return the call or have your lawyer call we wish you good luck for there has been a legal complaint filed against you and your social security number is:  ****".  Side note:  I was given a phone number to call prior to this person calling, and that number was 888-566-5591 it's a place called American Southwest Open Asset- this is where a prior collection agency gave me the 888-566-5591 to call (it was from a very small balance of $50.00 unpaid to a cash advance company called "Advance America"-I left my phone number on a message machine to American Southwest Open Asset, everytime I call you can never get a live person, they say leave a message- I believe the person above called somehow from that message and is threatening, scamming and trying to scare me into paying them.  They are scammers!!!! Beware!!!!!

Good Morning,  I first received a telephone message from a gentleman with a heavy accent that indicated his name is John Williams, saying I have a case pending against me etc...  I called the number back out of concern (as they had my office number) only to speak with the "Senior State Attorney" Frank Morall by the way the number I called back was (916-469-8857).  This guy fed me some major crap.  Then he said he could make the case go away if I pay $1,080.00.  I put the guy on hold and called across the street to my local Police Department.  While on hold I kept getting a call from (754) 201-0000.  Finally, the man hung up the phone.  My office phone rung again with (754) 201-000.  I picked up the telephone but did not say hello and it was the same man with the heavy accent.  I discounted the call.  I called the State Attorney office that confirmed the (916) 469-8857 DOES NOT belong to the State Attorney department.  I am leaving the office to make a police report as I am concerned with the pieces of my information they do have (office number, last four of ss and personal email address).  I

Received a call this morning from this phone number stating their was a problem with my ssn # wanted me to call George bellowski back

Just got a call as we'll called them back and they said in will see when the state attorney General comes to arrest me. They asked me for my name, and ididnt give it to them. Heavy accent as well. I asked what I did aggressively and told them that the state attorney general doesn't have a number for you to contact them at, and not would the line be busy. They hung up in my face.

Just received the same call super early in the morning. Then he gave me a name brandon Gabriel, an attorney to talk about my legal issue wtf?! Now to report this bogus lawsuit agains my ss#  Thanks for the heads up guys. I will be taking your advice.

Thank you so much for the info. I had the same thing happen to me today and my friend said to Google the number and it came to this website. I will be a taking ur advice and adding to the do not call registery.

A man with a very heavy accent called me at work 6 times within 5 minutes and left one voice mail. He said he was calling from the State Attorney Generals office and that they is a lawsuit against my name regarding my social security number. This I know cannot be true because if one is being sued, you will never be called, but served in person. (Told to me by a lawyer) I did not get this man's name as his accent was very heavy and hard to understand. Since I'm at work, I asked my husband to call them back for me as I'm at work and cannot deal with this bogus "law suite claim". When he called, they said they couldn't speak to him or any third parties (An attorney is a third party which they said to also call on my behalf)) and transferred him to a different place where he was hung up on. This is a scam and please beware. I have gotten these calls in the past and have submitted a claim to the FTC and added my name to the Nation Do-Not Call Registry. Please, do the same so these calls will stop.
