These are calls from a telemarketing company selling subscriptions to the Sacramento Bee. I got tired of ignoring the calls, so I just decided to confront them. Since they like wasting my time, I decided to waste their time by acting dumb and keeping them on the phone for as long as possible. It's a telemarketers worst nightmare to be kept on the phone with no sale in sight. They don't meet their quotas and they get in trouble with their supervisors. If you mess with them, remember to get their name, contact info, company name, their do not call policy, and ask to be put on their do not call list. According to federal laws, they have to provide their do not call policy upon request, then if they call back again, you can threaten to sue them or get them fined.

Report them, the sac bee, to the FTC at FTC.gov
So far I have only reported their for-hire call center, but I'm about ready to file a complaint against them.
I just got a call from the 916 509-3105 number. Again.

Calls, no message. If I answer hangs up. Needs to be blocked

If you have call blocking, you can add up to 5 numbers to be blocked from ringing on your cell phone. Also, visit the "do not call list" website and add your cell number(s).
Hope this was useful.

It is Sac Bee calling twice a day. I cancelled their paper recently for my own good reasons. They wanted to charge me $20.00 a year for online access in my subscription rate that I don't want. When I cut the amount off my payment and stated why they shortened the length of my subscription. So watch this I cancelled them.
If I wanted news on line I don't need them.

This number calls me daily or twice daily. No message left. Once I accidentally answered and the caller hung up. Reported the number to the Do Not Call registry complaints.

I have been receiving ~daily calls/sometimes twice a day from this number. Answered once by mistake and the caller hung up. No messages left. This is a pattern I experience from new 916 numbers every six months or so. Annoying, but usually goes away after the number is reported.

Daily calls from 509-3105. When I called it back, the voice recorder stated "This is your local newspaper, hold for a representative." I want them to stop calling me.

It's not the SacBee specifically. The call comes from a commission-based contracted individual representing the Bee to get the subscription renewed so she can make a commission from it. I received a call from another such contract person and explained I'd call that person back when I was ready. Never heard back as that person respected my position. This person, however, called and I saw since they are commissioned I'll honor my agreement with the previous person and not work with her. She got really pushy and I finally said, I'm going with the other person, don't call me. She called me twice again when I spoke to her and told her I'd pay through the Bee instead since she's ignoring and disrespecting my wishes. The number keeps calling with no answer now. The Bee hires these people, but they cannot control how they are completely since these are independent contractors. Place your complaints to the Bee, but better yet, get the name of the individual calling. You have the phone number. Contact the BBB and report the action, or call Call Kurtis and report it to him. He'll publicize it and the SacBee will take action against the abuser calling everyone!

What an evil company, the Sac Bee! First, they send an adorable child to my home who tells me he will win something if enough people sign up for the newspaper. How could I say no?! Then, they call and ask me how my paper delivery is going, and I say, "Fine." They reply with "Thanks for subscribing to the Bee and authorizing automatic bank withdrawal payments." and hang up immediately. Wait, I never authorized that! Anyhoo, I finally cancelled my subscription. But now they call me every day and they are still withdrawing money from my bank account, even though I haven't gotten the paper in weeks!!!!
Moral of the story: If there is a cute kid with a clipboard at your door, pretend you're not home.

same thing happened to me

Recently cancelled my SacBee subscription, so I guess that explains the call from this number. As a rule I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, so I just let this one go - guess that was a good move! Ill continue to ignore it until they stop calling, lest they think they can prevail with this strategy!

Exact same thing has happened to me. I just sent tham an email explaing my disgust in them! We shall see if they respond.

I cancelled my paper with Sac Bee. Since then I was called by a 1-888 number a 1-800 number and this 509-3105 number. I answered the calls after I got tired of them calling me. I told each representative to stop calling me. The next day I receive a call again from the same number I told to stop calling me. They said it can take 48 hours to take into affect but give them up to 30 days for them to totally stop calling. The calls did stop but I am now receiving the calls from the 509-3105 number again. I even e-mailed the Sac Bee to let them know how unprofessional and wrong this is for them to bombard people with phone calls. They never responded.

It's the Sacbee wanting you to buy their newspaper. They called consecutively once each day until I answered and said no thanks to their business.

Called it back. "Thank you for calling your local newspaper. Please hold on the line and a representative will be with you shortly."
