I'm in Baton Rouge and have also received a call from this presumably fake number. When I returned the call, I got the "Your call cannot be completed as dialed" response. Definitely something shady going on all over Louisiana.

Live in Louisiana and just got a call from this number. I didn't answer because the 000-0000 looks so shady. I wonder why they target just one area like this, and who the hell is giving them they're info. These kind of people take advantage of people who don't know any better. Its sad.

I am in Louisiana and received a call at 10:13am 9/5/13. I answered and the caller hung up.

I got a call from this number right after my computer got hacked and blocked.

A call from a credit card company saying my interest rate could be lowered.  I took the call to find out the name of the company but the called hung up on me rather than givng me the name of the company.

Called under the pretense of lowering my Apr, then proceeded to ask me personal questions like how many men I've been with and if I'm a virgin!!! NOT kidding!!!_ he had an accent and my cell id said NEw York. I'm also located in Louisiana.

I got a call from 917-000-0000 this afternoon. We're not going to beat these idiots at their own game. AT&T wants to charge me a fee to block calls. My free and easy solution is to put my finger over the tiny speaker on the phone and let them waste their time waiting for me to pick up. If they're not in my address book, I don't answer. If they want to talk to me, they'll leave a message.

I got the same call today, August 10, 2013, in south Louisiana.  When they didn't leave a message I quickly added the number to my personal do not call list.  My Panasonic phone handles un-wanted calls in a terrific manner.  After I add the number to my do not call list the phone rings one time and the caller is cut off.  Wish I had this phone five years ago!
