Who or what is calling me? How did you get phone number?
| curtis hanvey 2014-06-08 02:17:16 Unknown |
this number called and an automated computer system said "your bank card has been blocked. dial one to reactivate dial 2 blah blah blah. I dialed 1.. "please enter your card number to verify account." I enter my card number then when it askes for security code it hits me that the message did not say the bank name. I enter made up numbers for expire date, code and yes it asked for pen number.. all i gAve was fake random numbers. then it said thank you. "Your card has been reactivated. Thank your for banking with us." My gut was right.. scam. Good thing I gave fake numbers. I figured it would say that even if I gave wrong numbers.

To stop these calls, just get an answering machine. Don't pick up until you hear who it is. When you stop answering the phone, after a few times of getting a machine, they stop calling. Or if you want to be mean, pick up and give it a big blast. Guarantee no one will call you back. I am assuming that you at least have caller ID. If not, get it.

They are calling from 20+ numbers at this point without leaving a message I have asked for a supervisor, I have hung up and I have screamed in the phone.. I have decided what they are doing is illegal and as such they cannot report me while they are violating the laws.. I am asking them every time for their company address so that I can mail them a bomb and kill them all. If the FTC and all the powers that be that are here to protect me from violation of my rights blah blah blah can and will do NOTHING.. then I am going to be HORRID and perhaps they will get sick of me and even be afraid to call me out of fear that I will follow up with mailing them a bomb and blowing them all back to their deity of choice.. I did not ask for them to call.. they are breaking the law and now I am going to have fun and make them listen to me be a complete ba$tard!
Did this and they called back from this number to tell me I was a small child.. HAHAH!!

They won't stop calling me either, and claim they are trying to sell me advertising for my YELP add, which I don't have.

I received calls from this number, too. When I see unknown numbers on my display I do not answer. Later I check to see if the person or machine has left a message, and when they have not, I know it is a solicitation of some sort. This has to stop.

They have a new scam! Caller with heavy Indian accent had my first and last name. He explained that they were opening a new airline ticket office in my area and I had been selected to receive two free tickets anywhere in the country and three nights hotel. Then I declined to be transferred to a supervisor to complete the scam (oops - offer) and be phished for credit information.
Note: These calls probably come in from India via the internet with a spoofed US number. They are effectively beyond the reach of the Do Not Call list. Don't complain to the FCC - complain to the State Department because foreign governments let these criminal operations continue. Or - perhaps the NSA can track them down! (Then transfer their location to the CIA Drone Center.)
PS - Please offer us a category of 'Criminal Scam' (or criminal scum) on the pull-down list of Call Type.
| BillH 2013-09-03 05:30:36 Unknown |
They have changed their scam again - never heard this one before. Called on Labor Day and I decided to see what their pitch was. They had my first and last name. A guy with a heavy Indian accent said they were opening a new airline ticket office in a nearby town - and I had been selected to receive two free tickets anywhere in the US and three days accommodations. Then he wanted to transfer me to a 'supervisor' to complete the offer. That was about all I had the time (or stomach) for and said that I would prefer to not hear any more.
PS - Can we have a category of 'obvious foreign criminal scam' (or something similar) on the pull-down list for 'Call Type' - please please please? I can't insult any of the categories on the list (even 'Telemarketer') by equating them with these scum.

Regarding 917-208-9936, I reported this to the Ohio Attorney General's Office as I felt like their call was a scam or a trolling call to get information for identity theft. the caller had a very thick accent which sounded like Middle Easter or perhaps from India. He identified himself as an ADT Security System representativeand proceeded to try to "verify" my information be asking "what is your address". He said he could upgrade my system and reduce the monthly monitoring fee if I would "verify" some very basic information. I told him if he was truly an ADT representative, he would already have that information and I wasn't giving him anything. I hung up the phone and reported this immediately to ADT and the Ohio Attorney General. I strongly encourage others to do the same thing.
