They've started to call me now.  I'm already on the National "Do Not Call" registry, but for some reason the American Lung Association doesn't bother to check the registry first.  They call me nightly.  They will never get a cent from me... due to their annoying habit of disturbing me at home... nightly.

They keep calling me and I am on don not call list.  How do I get them to stop?

Have received numerous calls from this phone number from the American Lung Assn. as well as other numbers:
10917-793-5557; 1-917-793-5555; 1-917-793-5553.  The constantly call, leave no message or hang up.  It is very annoying and disturbing when you have the hectic lifestyle.  Also, I am on the DO NOT CALL Registry but I still get these calls.

This is a scam.  The caller's have stolen the American Lung Association's so they can pretend to be a charity, thus getting around the Do Not Call registery.  They've call under all these numbers, so ignore them or if you want ot have fun, be abusive to the scam artists: 917-210-4612, 917-210-4615, 917-793-5553, 917-793-5555, 917-793-5557.

For the 1,000,000th time, these clowns are exempt from the Do Not Call Registry.  They operate as a non-profit, so all this whining about DNC is not going to fix a thing.  These clowns have it so that when you call and press 1 to remove, you enter your 10-digit # and then it says "please enter your 10-digit #."  After doing this 3 times, I realize these clowns have it rigged to not allow entry of your phone #.  GET LUNG CANCER AND DIE!

I will never give a $ to you again.  EVER!

I receive calls from this # & also from 917-793-5557 about 3 times a day!  They never leave a msg, and when I answer they hang up.  I am registered with the National Do Not Call Registery and I file a complaint daily!

We use to donate to the American Lung Association, but I'm going to stop, this is very aggravating.

How can I stop the calls????

has been calling for the last 2-3 months the first time I answered she only spoke spanish. I thought it had to deal with my husband. So I called Him straight away in Honduras. They call anytime day or night everyday.  gRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!  I want it to stop!

They've been calling several times a day for months. Sometimes the caller ID says American Lung Assoc., other times Unknown Caller. Makes me mad because I get "real" calls from NYC. Same deal, been on the Do Not Call list since it came out and renew it periodically. Guess it's time again.

These idiots will NOT stop calling.  You MUST report to the Attorney General in your state.  There is an online form you can fill out.  I think action is taken if they continue to call you after that.  It used to be the Lupus Foundation and now it's American Lung calling me several times a day.  Don't these organizations realize that we will never give a penny to them after this harassment?  Start telling everyone to NEVER GIVE MONEY TO ANYONE WHO CALLS YOU ON THE PHONE --  FOR ANY REASON!

pain in the a--. 2 or 3 calls a day

I've been getting calls from them every day for a week.  It goes in spurts, I've had strings of calls from them for years.  Today I called the number back and took my number off of their list.  I, too, am on the Do Not Call list.  Let's see if this ends their calls.  I hope it is them, and I hope these calls stop!

I get calls from this number 2 & 3 times a day.  Finally answered today and after a long pause I was hung up on.  What gives?  I am on the Do Not Call registry, but that doesn't seem to matter.

Caller stayed on the line but did not speak.

I just started getting these phone calls out of the blue about a week ago.  They call at least once a day, but have yet to leave a message.  I did just call the number back and there is an automated option to remove your phone number from their call list, although it can take up to 30 days.  We'll see if it works.

I'm surprised it took from April '09 till now for someone (Daisy) to point this out.  From the FTC website:

No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls.
(BTW & if you have read this far, yes, I have been getting their calls and, yes, they are a PITA.  I answered the call today on my cell, which was forwarded from my land line, and was met w/ silence.  To paraphrase a previous response "above,"  Anal Pores!

They have called me several days in a row.  No message, hangs up when I answer.  I called the number back and they do have an automated process to get your number taken off their call list.  Too bad the DNC list doesn't work for fundraisers!!!

Call came to Kansas from New York at 15:40 CDT on 9-15-09. Call not answered and no message left. Caller ID said "American Lung". I guess that's like an Russian lung, only different.

If you call the number back you will get an automated system that will enable you to remove your number from their system

I, too, received a call from this sonofabitch. Told me I was not interested and he said quickly that he'd call back another time and hung up, before I could tell him not to. What an a$$hole

The caller ID reads "American Lung."  They call daily and sometimes the phone rings only once.  They never leave a message.  I am on the Do Not Call Registry.

They call several times that I've been here.
I answered it the first time.  Fellow thanked me for giving in the past, but I don't think I've ever given $ to American Lung.  Told him that and he had no answer.
Now I just don't answer the phone.

This is annoying the lung association calls 3 times a day.  I have nothing to give right now.  Plus I am on the do not call registry.

Annoying, daily, pesty calls.  Too bad for ALA if this is not them, as I would never ever donate due to these constant intrusions.

I have also started getting these calls at all times of the day and nite. I am glad to see where they are coming from and that I am having the same problem as others.

Caller ID says its the Americal Lung Association and they have been on my caller ID for the last 5 days in a row! Man was rude...told him politely that I was on the Do not call list - insisted that I stay on the phone and proceeded to blabber his speech - politely said I had to go - become more persitent and badgering...abruptly hung up.

They called me almost daily a couple of months ago, then stopped for a while, but just got another call. Caller ID says "unknown caller". For those saying that they are on the Do Not Call registry -- charities are exempt, so are allowed to call unless you specifically ask them not to.

Yep, when you call back, the sequence of numbers to press to (perhaps) get off their list is 1, 2, 3, your 10 digit phone number, 1.

That said, I will NEVER donate to a charity which repeatedly phones me in such a manner, so American Lung association is hurting any chance of ever again receiving donations by getting themselves on this list.
