I received a call from9172689160 and it was a prank call

Received a call from 9172689160 a female voice recorded a message. "Good Afternoon, my name is Eliza (didn't get the last name) on behalf of G&S Associates. This call today, July 24,2013 is intended to notify (my name) (provided a case #), which is currently pending here in my department as for state law (my name) our office is required to give you 24 hrs stay of action to allow you or your counsel a chance to response with a statement. You can reach the filing firm toll free at 866-234-6129".
I began doing some research online and found several articles about this scam.

I've gotten 3 calls between yesterday and today on my work Blackberry asking for Cassandra. They have all been from different numbers. When I told them they have the wrong number, the first two said they would take the number off the list without even asking, this last guy hung up on me.

This number called my cell immediately after I ignored an UNKNOWN call. I didn't answer either call, no messages left. I don't answer calls I don't recognize.

This number calls every few hours. Nobody is there when I answer but u can hear people in background. This needs to stop.

I keep getting calls from this number, but the call never goes through.  When I answer it goes dead.  I tried calling the number and got a message that said my call could not go through.

just got a call from 9172689160. Earlier this morning i recieved two calls from UNAVAILABLE. They asked if this was Amanda and then hung up. Each call they said it was reguarding some different financial entity. The last call from 9172689160, the caller said it was about the grant money.... this is a scam or a product of hacking.

Some "Investigator" guy called and said I had two claims against me from his legal department and said he would be serving me with papers at my home and/or work...what a scam. Do not fall for this kind of crap. He also had the last 4 of my social.

Did not answer but noticed that caller ID contained the jibberish NWYRCYZN06 NY.   Does anyone know if there are companies that have auto-dialing machines that call just to see if a number is active/alive ?

I received a call on my cell phone from 917-268-9160. The caller is a female with heavy Philipino accent. Said she has my number listed in her marketing list and since my number is not listed in the do-no-call registry she was calling me.

I'd like this to stop
