Just received a call from this number. Let my machine get it. Looked it up via Google and see that this number is obviously not worth answering. Odd, I just entered Cabelas Sweepstakes and now all of a sudden get this call. Makes me wonder now. I just don't answer any numbers I don't recognize.

Just called this morning, but I didn't bother picking up (I was busy sleeping, lol).  Out of curiosity I Googled the number and saw all this shenanigans this guy/lady was doing.  So the best thing I did was call the FTC hotline and filed a complaint seeing this is an obvious scam going on.

I got a call from this number on 6/10 as well. The lady never left a message. Instead, I heard her talking to her supervisor about a bunch of useless nonsense. Another call that I will never, ever answer. Phuckk them.....

For the past 2 weeks I've been receiving calls from 917-628-2905 today's had a caller ID of V06101542180029.  When I answer, there's no one there.  I called the number back and got an answering machine message that said "thank you for calling customer service, unfortunately all our representatives......" blah blah blah.  I left my number and a message to stop calling.  Does anyone know anything about this number?

We've had a number of missed calls from the same number (718-337-8173).

I spoke to a woman today (Mrs. Davis - only name she provided) that said it was in regards to "NYSEG's Power to Choose program and that we had qualified for lower rates for having paid our bills on time." She claimed that the information was included in October's billing statement and that they were contacting people who chose not to enroll because many had thought it to be an advertisement.

I could enroll today all she would need is some information from my energy bill...sounded phishy since the power to choose is an optional enrollment program to get competitive energy rates from competing energy companies.

I asked at what number I could call back and she gave me 917-628-2095 and to ask for Mrs. Davis...this is linked to another post:

I received a call from (917) 628-2095. I used my phone company's "Call Trace" feature (*57 for Verizon). This initiates a trace and reports the call to Verizon's Unlawful Call Center. Verizon recommends that you also call the police if the caller threatens you with bodily harm or an explosive device. I would encourage everyone to use this feature so that the phone company has a record of all of these calls and can take the appropriate action.

Caller said her name was Keisha and that she worked for a company supplying natural gas to National Grid. She promised a 5% discount if I would tell her information from our monthly bill. We hung up on her and reported this phishing scam to the Do Not Call list.

They called asking to talk to the person in charge of the electric bill and when I told them they were unavailable they hung up before I could ask who they were.

I had to post a message to alert others about this phone number.  I received a call today (12/8/10) from "Thomas" who reported to be calling from the federal government.  He said he was investigating sweepstakes scams.  He then asked if I had sent in any money.  I replied, "No, I am not that dumb."  I also informed him that I had sent the sweepstakes mail to the Postal Inspector and the Attorney General's Office.  He then called me a "smart b---ch" and told me to give him a "b--- job."  I wrote the information down and brought it to the police department.  He is a scam artist.  By the way, I am an 80 year old woman.

This is not the federal government.  This is a person or persons from out of our country.  I don't know what the aim of this is , but my mother in law has been hounded for almost a year by fake sweepstakes telling her she has won money.  She finally fell for it against our warnings and was taken for some money.  She has since then changed her phone number and her bank account.  Today she told me some of the calls had started again. Her number is now unlisted so I am not sure how they are getting this info (unless she filled out another sweepstakes, which I wouldn't put past her).  While I was at her home this morning visiting the above mentioned number came across her caller ID.  I answered.  He asked for my mother in law by name claiming to be the Federal Claims Bureau.  He was clearly of middle eastern decent.  He gave me a fake name like Steven Micheals or something....yeah right!      He was very hard to understand and after I asked him to repeat the phone number a couple of times he started using profanity and making lude remarks.  I quickly realized it was a scam as I had first thought when I saw the number.  I yelled something back at him and he started laughing insanely.  He didn't hang up...he just kept laughing like a mad man.  I hung up because I realized there was a reason he wanted me on the phone.  There are scams out there where people keep you on the phone with the intent of robbing your bank account electronically.  While you are on the phone with them, they are making the transaction.  If the bank tries to call you to verify they can't get you on the line.  The transaction goes through and you are out the money.  I don't know if that's what was going on with this call, but something is up other than radomly calling people and swearing, using profanity and making lude remarks to people.  Dont answer the phone next time and make a report with the FTC.  You can call them direct and they will be very helpful.

Someone by the name of  Frank Stevens from the Federal Claims Bureau called from the abovementioned number and left a message with a call back number 888-668-3899..  Upon returning his call, he said he would call me right back.  About a 1/2 hr. later he called and cursed me out, without reason.  There was no provocation on my part.  He said he was going to kick my butt and also called me a ' M----- F-----" and hung up.  When I called back both nubmers, no one picked up.  If this is the kind of people that the Federal Government hires, then I would like to know hwo I can file a complaint with the Federal Government!!  My home number is 718-963-2546.  Thank you.
