When I returned home , found what seemed like the end of a msg timestamped 4:08 pm. A man's voice was saying smthng to the effect of our needing to stick together to get whatever done. Read some of the earlier posts: it did NOT sound like Pres. Obama.

It's a scam. It's not from the president or from any legitimate fund raising group. You don't have the option of talking with a real, live person - only to give them your credit card number or your debit card number. Such hateful hustlers who'd try to take advantage of the deaths of 20 small children and six noble teachers to scam money from people.

This is not from Obama or the White House; it's a "push" call from a marketing firm hired by the NRA trying to enrage and scare gun owners -- and take their money, if they're dumb enough to give them a credit card number.
Lobbying groups hire firms to make push calls pretending to be from the other side of an issue; most of those firms are in Georgia, Virginia, or Texas, but this one is in NY (likely a Wall Street marketing firm.) They call pretending to be "for" an issue but are annoying or ridiculous on purpose (or call at dinner time, or Sunday morning, etc.) to tick you off.
It's like the "push poll" calls you get during an election that pretend to be from one side but ask questions that make you angry at that side. Like "Hello, this is the JACK SMITH campaign calling with a poll question: would you be more or less likely to vote for JACK SMITH if you knew he was a wife beater who kills puppies?" Etc.

We don't answer any numbers we don't recognize - We let the answering device pick it up and of course they left no message. Like others I believe this is another caller scam. Right or left I don't care I won't donate to any of them - so if it is some gun lobby (pro or con) they are out of luck!

Phone rang my answering machine picked up. They didn't leave a message. The caller id said it was a
NY NY number. If the call is asking me to do anything to take away my amendment, the right to bare arms, they called the wrong house.. Originally from Texas so I am tired of government trying to shove crap down
our throats. He (president) had a 21 GUN salute, secret service(gun) snipers all over. What's good for the goose is good for Washington. Same goes for healthcare. They all should have the same crap we are forced to have but I don't think they will. So I will keep my fire arm thank you and so will my husband and friends! So dont' call here again!!

I can't imagine this was actually authorized by the President, since whoever put the recording together simply snipped some audio from the President's remarks on the day of the Newtown shootings. Besides, the President's organization would never write a script describing him as "one of the greatest Presidents" in history. It's just not their style. In fact, since they promise a premium in the call, I wonder if it's even a nonprofit doing it. It could just be a complete scam from start to finish.

It's not illegal, so what are you going to do?
I say tough, the NRA is a fear group that thinks they run this country and our politicians, time they found out they dont!

To be fair, the call is NOT from President Obama. It just uses his voice. So I doubt you can "use it against him" as a previous poster suggesting. Thus, I am not noting it as a political call. The caller ID showed NWYRCYZN03, which appears to be a stand-in for the actual name of a "nonprofit" entity. I doubt, however, that they are entirely "nonprofit" since the NWYRCYZN## is a common mask for such calls. Google it.
This all leads me to believe that it is a "fund raising" service that rakes in the $$$ and then tosses off a mere 2% or so at a legitimate nonprofit in order to say that they themselves are nonprofit. The call just asks for donations, and cites the Sandy Hook shootings, but there is no way to know to WHOM you would be sending money if you "pressed 1 to donate." It has all the hallmarks of a scam, trying to get well-meaning people to send money, playing on their sympathy. If it was a legitimate nonprofit or political entity, I would expect it to have some more clear identification attached to it, either in the CID or the recorded message.

I listened for a bit before I hung up. First the recorded voice of the President then a female recorded voice asking me to donate. Fat chance of that happening.

Also received the same robocall urging for financial support to fight the pro gun lobbyists and to help fight "one of the greatest presidents in our nation's history." I am SO happy I had the option of pressing 8 to be removed from this ridiculous scam.

Recorded message from our President, asking for donations to help fight the NRA and control violence better. Too bad he didn't check who he called, we are a local office of the NRA and now will use this scam phone call against him.
