I have been receiving calls form this number for afew weeks now, sporadicaly, with an automated message stating my warranty is abotu to run out and woudl I like to renew (and coincidentally, this is true for one of the vehicles I own).

Anyway after receiving several calls and even pressing a number (9?) that's given to choose not to get calls anymore, I got more calls and today decided to play along and pressed zero to talk to a "representative".

First I asked who is calling me - the answer I got was why did that matter, did I want to extend my warranty?

I explained, very very very very very slowly how it mattered.  The answer I got was "Auto Solutions".

Next I asked where they were located.  Answer: "Sir why does that matter, do you want to extend your warranty?"

So I took another few minutes to explain, very slowly and patiently as I would a child, repeating myself very often, why it mattered.  Answer I finally got when I was through was that they are in Phoenix AZ.

"No address huh?"
"No Sir."
"So you're callingform your home or somethign?"
"No sir, it's just that...ummm.....well we don't have a location for warranty service"
"You don't have an office even?"
"Sir, do you want to extend yoru warranty or not?"
"Well, ya know, I'm trying to figure that out...let's just see...."

Asked the caller his name.  Why does it matter, yada yada yada...explained why it mattered....OK the guy's name is Chris.

"OK Chris.  Now, how about letting me talk to your supervisor?"
"I AM the supervisor"
"Oh, you own the company?"
"No, I don't"
"Well, now, Chris, I'm sure then, that since you're not the owner, that you have some kind of heirarchy or organizational chart that has someone betweenyou and the owner.  You might not call that operson a supervisor, but maybe you refer to them as a 'manager' or maybe just 'boss'.  I'd like to speak to that person now, please."
"That person is not available sir"
"That's a shame Chris, becuase I'd really like to see what we can do about this warranty situation."
"Sir I have a do-not call list I can put you on"
"That might be a good idea, Chris, if you and your manager or boss can't sell me a warranty, I imagine you might not want to call me again wasting your time, even though I'm trying to help you, Chris, because I do tend to go on, and on,  and on, and on, Chris, and I know that next time I'll have an awful lot more questions for you."
"Sir, the do-not-call list will take 48 to 72 hours for the change to go into effect so you'll have to manage with that."
"No, Chris, actually I think you'll have to manage with it, it's not my issue, you caled me and it's your list, so I'm sure you really don't want to call again, if you know what I'm saying."
"Yes sir.  Thank you and goodbye".

I've dealt with worse, but it was fun dragging him out and I wish I'd spent more time wasting his time, but I was at work.

They have been calling me all the time!  So I decided to play along today and I gave them my car info.  The lady told me that she could offer me the warranty on my 1999 Chevy s10 with 200,000 miles on it for $2,500.  It would be a full warranty for 5 years and it would cover everything including the engine.  She then told me that if I paid it all up front right by giving her my credit card number right now then she would give me 500 dollars off .  I did have the option of giving her my credit card RIGHT NOW and she would let me make monthly payments.  So I asked her for the company’s name and she said “Consumer Direct” and I asked for their URL cause I would like to read more about their services and she said that they didn’t have one? I then asked her for a phone number to call her back and she said that she couldn’t give it out.  She then got nervous and told me that she double checked and because of the miles on my car she couldn’t give me.  I told her that I would never be so stupid to give out my info to some stranger on the phone and I thought that this was fraud.  She then said  that I was a “b***h and to have a good f***ing day” and she hung up on me.

I am so upset by this!!!!!!!!!!!  These people are distressing me by calling 20 times a day on ALL 4 of my phones.  When I ask them to remove my number they still call.  So when I finally listen to them to hear there message I am personally attacked by them when I start to ask simple questions???????  What can I do to stop this people from their continually harassment of me and my family?

I have been receiving these calls in the past 4 months or so and quite often in the last 30 days. I keep pressing all options to either be removed from the list or get hold of a person so I can give them something they can remember for their life. My car warranty has really expired about 6 months ago and I was searching online for a company that provides extended warranties. I called the comapny that came up first in Google (forgot the name) but half way through the call, I sensed it was fishy. When I was adamant on not wanting to buy from them, the guy brought into the call someone else introducing him as his supervisor and we had a heated argument. When he was getting belligerent in his talk, I had to be ruthless and hang up the call. I am sure it's the same folks that are calling now. I hope there's a way to track these guys down and prosecute.

They call my AZ number, which rolls over to my main MN number. I figure they're trying to scam the elderly in AZ, since the recording gives a "first/second notice that the original warranty on your automobile is about to expire."

I suspect this group is the same as the ones running the 702-520-1435 scam. When I called 702-520-1435 to get taken off their calling list, I started getting calls from 918-468-2338. Is there a way they could get info from the DMV? Because I started getting 702 calls when I applied for a duplicate registration. (The entire time I've owned my car, it hasn't been under warranty. I bought it used.)

I have also received this call regarding a service about to lapse, pretty sure it was a scam though. Someone should shut them down.

DO NOT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD/BANK CARD/ANYTHING TO THE PEOPLE.

they work by getting information from you to use as common knowledge, to form trust, then run the game, its a classic scenario of scam, STAY AWAY

i got a call from this number, usually i don't answer numbers that i don't recognize.  but it just so happened my bike's chain (yes i ride a bicycle) jumped off it's gear, and i moved over to the side of the road to fix it.  it was right then that the phone rang and i felt i was in no hurry, i might as well answer it.

"your car's warranty is about to run out,"  wait, what car?  seeing as i don't own a car i felt this one would be entertaining to follow up on.  i held for a receptionist.  that took only five minutes or so.

a guy who named him self warren answered, and he asked if i'd like to extend my warranty.  i asked him three questions in succession:  1) how did he get my number, 2) what company does he work for, and 3) what car am i trying to renew my warranty on considering that i don't own a car.  he hung up.  must not have been worth the sell.

calling back led me to a "disconnect" message.  the number, according to a google search, is out of oklahoma.  it seems many of these responses are in arizona.  i live in colorado, is only the west plauged by these calls, or elsewhere too?  also, who's your service provider?  they may have sold a list of numbers to companies like this.  make sure you tell your phone service you do not like such practices and that if it happens again you will change your provider.  money seems to be the only thing that matters to them.

I have gotten this call twice in two weeks

I am from Massachusetts with a Massachusetts number, but I am currently living in NYC.

I am glad I randomly checked the number, as I am waiting to hear back for job interviews and was looking to see if it was from the ones I am waiting to her from.

Kai,
The pre-recorded message (and associated auto dialing system) is a clear violation in its self if: the call is to a non-business number, there is no current business relationship with the caller, its commercial in nature, and does not identify the calling party.
Civil action is a bit of a pain, but state AGs can collect $500 per state resident called.  If it turns out they were willfully violating this law, its $1500 per state resident.  That makes it worth while for a state Attorney General to go after anyone doing it on mass scale like these folks seem to be doing.
