OK here's the deal. Charitable organizations are exempt from the Do-Not-Call Registry. They can, by law, irritate anyone and everyone at any time!!!! Here's what I did. I went on Amazon.com, purchased a "Pro Call Blocker" version 2, now I only get a call once. After receiving a call that I have no use for, I enter it into the blocker and my phone never rings again for that number. The pro call blocker cost me $59.90, but believe me it was well worth it. It will block over 1000 individual numbers, complete area codes and more. I keep a list of all of my blocked numbers, that way if this little sweet unit ever crashed, I can purchase another one and add all of the numbers quickly. My home becomes more peaceful everyday.

I'm really tired of this. That number (919)208-2895 keep calling 2 or 3 times a DAY!!! I don't know where to report them but this is too much. I tried to call but that number is always "busy"
I think sometimes they call from another number but actually I think is the same # but it said "Private number" or "wireless".

Well Tommy, at least BO must realize that he's getting bad advice from his staff and is reaching out. Your advice couldn't be worse than the advice he's getting.

Keep getting calls from this number. They don't leave a message, but when I answer they ask for my college-age child. When I ask who is calling, they hang up. Call-back isn't working.

They call they ask for the person by first name as if they know them then they ask me if i am the person's wife and i say no.  I say the person you are calling for is never here.  They ask what are you just hanging around.  i say yep.  I ask is there a message they say no or nothing and hang up.  I don't mind the call because they used to call 3 times a week now it 2 times a week in couple of weeks it will 1 time a week and after that no calls.  Yes!!!   Most likely a scam.

The second call is just to make sure the telemarketer isn't lying about the donation since they have an interest in that donation (the telemarketer gets what, 25-28% of the donation, I'm guessing from past experience) and the manager that places that second call gets (what, 25-30%, I'm guessing from past experience) and then the actual company (like Blue Line or CJW) gets another 25% of that.    That leaves a whopping 25-28% for the actual donation (the portion you thought would get to the "cause").  My question is how these tickets come about?.  Are they donated by the actual concert company or was there a small price on those too that would bring the actual donation that reaches the cause to less than 25%?

OK, this is really weird. I let the phone ring 2x before I picked it up. I didn't want them to think I was eager to receive the call. When I picked up, the voice said--I kid you not--"This is the President of the United States." And I was like, "No way." And he was like, "Way. And I just want you to know that we're on top of the Do Not Call List. We appreciate your support." And, again, I was like, "No way!" And he was like, "Way." And then--this is really weird--he asked, "Did you mind if I ask you a question?" And I was like, "Sure." And he was like, "What would you do in Syria?" And I hung up.
I mean, seriously--Syria. WTF??

Even if it is a legitimate charity, when they call and I say, "take me off your calling list," I do NOT want to hear an argument.  I do NOT want these people to call me by name as if they know me, and I am NOT impressed when they try to chat me up. I just want them to say "okay" and hang up and NOT call back.  I tried to be polite, but I had to hang up because this guy would not take no for an answer.  If they are legit, then they need to clearly identify themselves so that I know who they are before I pick up.  Ordinarily, I don't answer if the caller ID is "Wireless caller," but I'm in the process of selling one home and buying another, and I MUST answer the phone.

I hope you realize less than 15% of the money you donate actually goes to the Fire Dept.   that's because it is illegal for a firefighter to spend their employment calling for donations.   They hire an outside telemarketing group to do fundraiser and then the fire dept terms about 10-15% of the money.   Should have done better research!!!   Also, these guys have harassed me for weeks now!   They are scum, and not firefighters, but telemarketers.

I also believe these calls to be legit. They are in fact offering tix to a (country music) concert to raise money for a Raleigh firefighters association. However, I am now getting calls from these nice folks about once an hour. I'm not sure what dialing software they're using, but obviously there is a glitch. I take time to answer, listen to them, explain about my repeated calls, and ask them to please remove my number. I do believe it is totally unintentional--unless their motivation is to harass a group of people rather than make money for their nonprofit, they probably want to dial as many unique numbers as possible--but I really wish they would invest funds in upgrading their system. Or go back to old fashioned snail mail. Fortunately, this is a short-duration campaign...I can't wait for this concert!!!

It's still a good idea for people to research first - and the others posting here have said that they received hangup calls or the people did not identify themselves, so maybe the number has been spoofed?  This is what I found out about the Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association online - http://www.rpffa.net/Durham-County-FFA.html

The Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association (RPFFA) is a 501c5 non-profit organization. Employees of Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association will be calling area residents with an offer to purchase concert tickets to the benefit concert. Callers will identify themselves as a representative of the RPFFA. All calls are scripted and will be recorded. Callers will not be representing or identifying themselves as City of Raleigh Fire Department personnel. The fundraising does not directly support, or affect the services provided by the City of Raleigh Fire Department.
The RPFFA representatives will not ask for payment over the phone and they do not accept credit cards or cash. The RPFFA prefers checks, but will accept PayPal upon request. Anyone agreeing to purchase tickets will receive a second phone call from the RPFFA's mailroom usually within 30 minutes after the original call to verify their purchase, mailing address and exact number of requested concert tickets. If the resident still wishes to purchase the tickets, the RPFFA will mail the concert tickets, accompanied by a thank you letter, a supporter sticker and a return envelope for remittance of their payment. The RPFFA works on the honor system and sends the tickets out before receiving payment.

Your right Robert, I don't believe you. I too received a call from this number, it is the Raleigh Fire Fighters Association. I actually took the time to listen to what they had to say, asked the caller if they could give me a few days to do my own research, which I did. I found out through my research that not only are they legit but they are located right here in Raleigh on Wake Forest Rd and Captain Keith Wilder of the RFD is in charge. After my research I decided that not only WILL I support, but I will continue to support knowing what an impact the Raleigh Fire Fighters Association has on our community. Good job Captain Wilder and keep up the good work!!!

Many of the people that are going to read this wont believe me. This number called my house on August 8th, 2013. When my mother answered the phone he called my sister by name (not a common name) and said she was going to die and that he wouldn't be at fault for her heart attack. I strongly recommend that nobody answer any calls from this man.

Ha ha ha! Let me get this straight...it is now President Obama's fault that the No Call List doesn't work? Because the POTUS has nothing more important to do than to monitor telemarketers? And this wasn't a problem during the previous administration? Jimbo, you are delusional.

Was on the phone, and got a call from this no. Got off phone and tried to answer but too late. I tried to dial 919-208-2895 and line was busy.  Maybe if I tried to call this no. every time I get up at night to go to the bathroom, they would get the message!!

Later I tried calling back, but they wouldn't answer.

Now we have an idiot in RDU area making no answer phone calls. The long list of numbers used to make calls tells me that US Do Not Call list and laws area joke to this Presidency. If the president looked and listened to the records available, he would have it stopped ASAP.
