Thank You Alfalfa. I have filed a report with the FTC, and they informed me that I'm am not the first one to report them. These so called investigators would not even give me an address or a company name and have been posing as Law Enforcement and making serious threats, so my local police department is assisting me with this matter since they have been harassing me and I have recordings and have every contact they have made with me documented. They have broken the law on many levels and hopefully they will soon be arrested.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

By the way MK we all know you are full of Lies. And you always say "you wish people well" when you call them and try and scam them! I have been getting harassed by these creeps for a while now. I have already filed a report with my local police department and I have many of their phone calls recorded as evidence. They messed up big time by some how masking their number and pretending to call me from my local police department, claiming to be Detective Moore with a phony badge#.  No such Detective Moore exists in my jurisdiction, and I have confirmed that I have no such warrant for my arrest, so every time they call me it is more evidence on my case. I also did research and found that I do not owe any such company called Money More for some alleged pay day loan taken out in 2008. These people are insane and just try to scam us out of money. I cant believe some people actually believe their lies. Investigators and Police do not call you to give you a heads up if they have a felony warrant for your arrest! Nor do they try and collect money from you to supposedly withdraw the warrant! If you receive a call from them DO NOT FALL FOR IT! RECORD THEM AND REPORT THEM!!!! DO NOT LET THEIR VERBAL ABUSE SCARE YOU!!!

Sorry, I don't live in India.  I live in Minneapolis, nice try though. Again this site is supposed to be used for personal experiences, do you have one to share if not you should not be on this site as you are using it incorrectly at this time.  And actually the lawyer said based on recent legislation passed by congress it is punishable as a worthless check, as any normal human being knows it is against the law to write or authorize an instrument for goods or services received and then not honor the said instrument when it is presented to their financial institution.  A criminal is a criminal and they just try and make everyone else look like the guilty party, with your one finger pointed at another individual you still have 3 pointed back at yourself, wish you all well, I'm done.

Do you know that it is against the law impersonate or ellude to impersonate a LEO (law enforcement officer, obviously you have not had much of a college education).  I know what happened, it happened to me.  The site is inteneded for use in regards to posting in reference to your personal EXPERIENCE, did you go through an experience or are you just assuming.  I requested my lawyer research the documents sent after I paid for something I owed and he verified it was all legit. I have always been a leader and not a follower as it appears that Badge 714 and Gunnar are both going with what they think is cool, it's funny how the cookie will crumble and they will be left cleaing up the mess.  Best wishes, oh by the way I wonder why the first person never responded, I guess they did persue them legally huh?

Well put 'Badge'. I would not have been so polite. The shills are out in force today. I think they're getting alot of pressure put on them. The owners know that Jan. 2nd is looming fast and once the CFPB gets oversight it's going to impact their entire industry. The big boys will be dumping the flunkies in the boiler-rooms and outsourcing all their calls overseas. Even the little scum bag operations will be effected. The Feds. will want to flex their new muscle and some interesting legal precedents are sure to come. Once the mega judgements become more common against the large collectors the small fry will start running scared. The penalties for fraudulent practices are already in place but are seldom imposed. That will change once the public becomes more aware of what is really going on. State Attorney Generals will be looking to get in on the fun once it becomes clear that the fines levied against even the small shysters can mean big bucks. And we all know what a politician thinks about making money! Hell, they're more blood-thirsty than any deviant in a cubicle.

I received a call from this number and then ignored her information, only to then be contacted by my local police who advised that I had a warrant out for my arrest concerning Fraud, I was advised that the number listed for the Attorney is the number to contact regarding the file which is the same number, I did in fact pay the restitution on the case and therefore was able to have the warrant withdrawn.  I did research and it was in fact a payday loan that I did in fact take out previously and did owe the money for.  Be careful in ignoring the calls before it's too late. I'm fortunate to know someone who works at the local police department and gave me a heads up. Be Careful!

This is another group that claims you have criminal charges pending against you and your social security number. The women said if myself or my lawyer didn't call back they would prosecute me, total crap!!! These are another group of scam artists, do not pay them a thing!!! They make huge threats and tell you will be arrested. Just don't answer the phone or block their calls as I have done. It's very annoying but you have to stop them somehow. And, they must have stolen my information recently because my home number is brand new and unlisted as well as my cell, yet they still managed to get a hold it of it. Nice huh!
