I just also got a call from this number. When I tried to call back, it goes straight to voice mail. I was thinking it might be job related, since I am currently unemployed and searching for work.

Its Capital One - likely calling to either solicit or in relationship to your existing card.

They say they are from the News and Observer (newspaper).  They call us everyday!  Sometimes they ask if we have received the paper that day (we don't even subscribe to it)...other times they say nothing and hang up,

I received one too, no message and if you return their call you get a voice mail teling you the mailbox is full.

Thanks to the answer Answer Man posted (true to his name) I called CapitalOne. I have an account with them with a zero balance and cash available is my full credit limit (I knew that going in but I am trying to stave off the arrogant a55holes here that tell everyone to pay their bills).

Anyway, they confirmed it was one of their associated telemarketers (and for those i identified in my earlier paraenthesis, they also confirmed my aaccout was in good standing)

Based on that I am going to ignore their calls in the future.

Got a phone call, answered, nothing on the line, I tried to call it back and the message said the mailbox was full and could not accept anymore calls??
