Rec'd text from stevenoel10@gmail.com linked to phone number 919-322-9842 - this number is located in the Raleigh, North Carolina area.  Individual is inquiring about a vehicle listed on Craigslist located in Southern California.  Language used in text asks if vehicle is still for sale when ad specifies if post is still active vehicle is available.  Based on a variety of internet resources we suspect this individual is a Craigslist Scammer.

I suppose we are all walking and talking idiots. Hope they catch as many of these scums as possible. They must use the same text messages over and over again on all kinds of items up for sale. Sorry for rambling but I am pissed.

Sent text 10 min after I posted that they wanted to buy my car for his friend. But isn't in town and can pay through PayPal bc it's secure and hell have his agent pick it up. Told him he can have his agent give me the money when he picks it up! Stopped texting me after that.

Scam text for car posted in Phoenix

Just got same txt sounded weird so i googled number and this is what i found thanks!!!!!

got a spam message from this guy same as all the others on 5/20/13 looks like the spam reports don't do anything to stop these guys, reported him to verizon at 7726. do the same if you get a message from this criminal.

This is a scam artist at work. Tried to purchase our car on craigslist Phoenix through pay pal. It looks like he has tried several others. He needs to be stopped before someone innocent is taken advantage of.

I just had the exact same message. within 10 minutes of posting my car on craigslist phoenix I received the following,"I'm seriously interested in buying this item for my brother as a gift. I am out of town and cannot see the car, but I want to surprise my brother with this car as a gift.  What is your last price? blah blah blah....... get back to me with your pay pal e-mail account... I just want to tell you that paypal is the only online best payment method cos they are safe, trustworthy, secured and my pick up agent will come and pick up car from you and title once I have made the payment"  

He gave me the name of "Steven"  

After replying  "cash only" he did not respond.  SCAM SCAM SCAM

Received the same text message wanting to buy our car for his brother, out of town for his work...we told him we could run credit cards...didn't hear back

Got a text message for the 2nd time from an individual using 919-322-9842.  This is a phone number listed in North Carolina that even after mentioning this number is well documented on the web as it belongs to a Craigslist Scammer the person replies back saying "Thanks for your "quick mailed".  I'm seriously "interest" in buying this item for my brother's son as a gift.  What's your last price, condition, yada I'm currently offshore and won't be available to pick up the vehicle etc.  About 5 months go by and I get the exact same text from this number with the same story. Obviously this person isn't the sharpest tool in the box...

I placed a craigslist ad to sell a vehicle and received the exact same text message as most of you on here, word for word, from this same number.

same type of text.  wanted to buy my car for his brother.  big surprise.  needed me to start a pay pal acct to make the deal.  Pfffft...  I googled his (her? I doubt it) number and got this website where a bunch of others got the same text.

Same as all the others. Replied to a post on Craigslist with almost exactly the same wording. Needs to be stopped before he scams innocent people.

The message I got was EXACTLY the same. But it was a car on craigslist.

Wanted to purchase my vehicle from craigslist sent a long message, saying vehicle was to be given to brother. Asked for condition of car and reason for sale. The area code looked ify. Total Scam!

3/12/13 Same text messages as above with the brother. Phoenix craigslist listing. I told him to look up his number on google and said you must be an idiot.

11/10/12 @ 0901 PST - Received another text after informing him I found his number on the web and had documented the phone call.  Considering I'd informed him I was able to find documentation of calls to others, this person text'd back:

"Thanks for your quick mailed, I'm seriously interested in buying this item for my brother's son as a gift.  What is your last price? What's condition of it and why you want to sale it?  I won't be available for pickup myself, moreover, and currently offshore due of my work.  I really want this as a surprise gift for him so I won't let him know anything about this until it get delivered to him."  

So apparently they don't read English.  This has been documented as he has written it so I'm assuming he's from out of the USA and for all we know is using Google Voice for text messages.  Hope this helps others.

Security company Cloudmark created a spam messaging reporting service that nation?s major wireless carriers agreed earlier this year to start using. Now, customers of AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint and others can forward their text spam message to 7726. The mobile phone carrier will ask customers for the phone number that?s linked to the spam message so they and Cloudmark can start investigating.

11/10/12 @ 0845 PST - Received a text message from an individual at 919-322-9842.  Want's to buy my vehicle.  His number is in North Carolina.  Why would he be contacting someone in Los Angeles to buy a vehicle?  I notified him I'd document he contacted me.

same number, i just posted my vehicle for sale.  From Tucson, AZ. No further info.

Just got hit from this same phone number..text msg..inquiring about truck on craigslist.  I replied that it was still available..and they havent replied.  I wondered if they were for real...checked out the #...and I find this string!  gotta be on your toes!  thx for posting these!!
