Totally legit call. Our directory for our company's main phone number wasn't working and they were calling me to test my extension.

yes, same here..no one answered after I said "hello" and yet called right back after I hung up..

Just got 3 calls from this number in under 5 minutes, each time I answered with no response given. I do have AT&T Internet but there's nothing unpaid so idk what they could have wanted.

I can confirm that this is an AT&T number.  My company uses AT&T Managed Security services, and this number shows up whenever they call me to report an "event".  It's a legit call for me.

Yes, many companies "spoof" their outgoing number so that when you call back you get some sort of IVR or call-handling center.  I have customers that do this for legitimate reasons: one gov't agency for example is mandated to not accept incoming calls except from the centralized phone system.  So, they make a local call to talk to someone, but their caller ID shows up as an 800 number that is for their centralized call center.

There are just as many bad examples though.  I guess my point is, there is no way to tell what the purpose of the call was, just by looking at the caller ID number.

Also, choosing "Unknown" in my "Call Type" selection, as none of the other types are even close.

I just got two phone calls from 919-474-1000.  The first one he asked if I was someone (forgot the name) and when I said "No" he said, well this was the number given me.  I told him I've had this number for many, many years.  So we hang up.  About an hour later he calls back and starts with "he just wants to verify that this is not that person's number".....   I hung up.

I know with absolute certainty this is the number that shows up when someone from AT&T Managed Services makes an outgoing call.

Am continuing to receive calls from 919-474-1000.I guess the phone companies really have taken over.Why isn't the state or federal gov'ts looking into this crap?

I would not fret too much about getting calls from this number. The location is an AT&T helpdesk that troubleshoots corporate data networks. They make hundreds/thousands of calls daily. Most likely, your number was dialed by mistake (fat finger or they were given the wrong call back number). The number you see on your caller ID is the main number at the facility. When you call the number, you get the reception desk staffed by a hired security firm, not an actual helpdesk agent. That security guard has no understanding of what happens on the inside. He or she is a rent-a-cop.

The 9194741000 is the number distributed by caller ID when one of the AT&T data centers tries to call modems to support their Data customers.  When you call the number back, you reach the security desk for the building.  It's nothing more than a screwed up number in their data base

This number called me in Brussels Belgium, no msg. This person must have a lot of time on their hands!

We kept receiving calls at 2 and 3 am ET from this number.  The same thing.  If we didn't answer it would call back again.  We live in NE TN.  We finally had to change our number.  We have an unlisted number, registered with Do Not Call and filed numerous complaints with FTC and local authorities.  Nothing ever came of it.  The calls were coming in sporadically.  But when they were coming in, they would happen day after day.  Sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.

Have received two "anonymous" calls from (919)474-1000 in the past two weeks.No message,and no info from A.T&T.When I called the number,I was told that it was A.T&T Security Center in Durham,NC.

Strange........especially since I have never been a customer of A.T&T,and have only recently established phone service with a local carrier,and am supposed to have an unpublished number.

Called my work phone; said they were fronm AT&T ckg. line; our firm doesn't use AT&T - weird.

Finally answered once and when I kept saying hello, no one answered.
Called back and a Sgt Wedington and so from AT&T security said he knowns nothing and can't help me but to be available and answer the next time.

I called again today and the guy is saying there is a computer on the 'friz' that keeps dialing in and he wants to take some information from me.  Not sure what that is about.
He took down my first name and telephone number and he said it will be rectified on Tuesday.

I guess I should be ready for when 'they' come to get me.  LOl I was getting a bit concerned as to why it seemed like he was keeping me on the line.  Maybe to 'track me down' lol :)

As someone that does nothing, at all - I'm pretty certain he is correct it is just a computer glich.

The place that you call there is a CALL CENTER.

It is the number outposted when an AT&T employee at their location in North Carolina makes an outbound call. If you call back you'll get the main desk. The company I work for does the same thing. If you've ever opened an AT&T VDNA ticket, you'll receive call backs from this number. If you have no relationship with AT&T, then it's likely that they misdialed the real call back number, as they have a tendancy to get a lot wrong when we open tickets and may have transposed a number when entering the ticket.

They do have a tendancy to call whenever they finally get to the ticket in the queue, and it often is 3am, and they usually have no decent info, and sometimes even have the wrong info.

Called me at my private WORK number, said they were ckg. the line they were with AT&T; our firm doesn't use AT&T; the security desk answering is bogus i think; it's telemarketing. My bills are paid, and if they were a bill collector they would simply ask for money but still is weird. Someone up to something....

It is AT&T support.  if your ISP is AT&T they likely are calling to inform you of a trouble on your lines.

They called twice and left no voicemail at 4am.

I have perfect credit so I don't know why they'd call. And it's my work phone, which I normally give out, instead of my personal line.

When you call back, someone answers as Sgt. so and so with AT&T corporate security or something like that.  When you ask why they are calling he immediately laughs and just says something like I know nothing, but they WILL be calling you back.  When asked why they don't leave a 'real' message, he replies ...I know NOTHING haha , but they will call back...
Bill collector?  I recently tried getting my credit in order which opened a flood gate of creditors purchasing my old debt as they see me as someone who will possibly pay if pressured.  I'm just gonna file as they really don't want me to pay obviously with their outlandish markups.  This is the only thing I can think it could be.  I don't do anything that I would be in trouble for so - maybe it's just a scare tactic or something.
These people are selling their souls to the devil if it's really bill collectors.  

IF IT WERE anything of legitimacy, I would think they would leave a message or at least give you some info when you call them back right?
